  When I was young, one could be arrested for vagrancy, but I think that is no longer the case.

  We who have a support system and/or a caring family forget how lucky we are. Most Americans are a paycheck or two away from the street.

  how do you cope with the stress of fading?

  i'm really struggling with it.

  i've been learning the ttatt for the past 6 months now and i've been inadvertantly fading - either one of us or the children have had coughs/colds/flu/chicken pox/stress over the past 3 months which has meant we've missed a lot of meetings and field service with good reason.

  we've only been out in service twice this year, so far no ones mentioned it to us but i'm waiting for our group overseer to bring it up anytime soon.

  You may need the services of a professional at some point. I know it makes you crazy, not because of what you're doing or not doing, but from all of the pressure and hounding you get.

  Personally, I moved to the other end of the country, and that made it so much easier.

  Will AAWA Become another cult?

  please sorry for english, i have only been learning for 18 months.

  everyone please think about it, and beware of any initiative designed to solve "a community problem".

  becasue russel also started his own cult on a similar premise like this , claiming to have all the answers to issues whose solutions seems obscured to the majority in his days, and here we are today, constantly bashing our fingers on the keyboard in a bid to finding comfort from the mess he had put all of us into.

  When I was in college, I remember my Amerian History professor telling us that charities (which I consider AAWA to be, at least in part) end up like government agencies, steeped in bureaucracy and rules, and rarely helping anyone.

  My daughter found an essay once that stated that all organizations should set a date to dissolve at the outset because organizations which start out with noble aims at some point become focused on keeping the organization going and lose sight of the ideals they started with.

  With the above caveats in mind, I hope AAWS won't fall into either of those organizational traps. At this point, I have full faith in their mission and ideals. If they get to the point that they have reached their goals, then I hope they will make a decision to dissolve. I don't think anyone is participating out of greed or to get attention or be prominent in the ex-JW community, but if they are, I hope they will be dealt with. I believe the AAWA intends to be democratic, and anyone can have their say and bring it to the attention of the membership or directors if anyone is behaving in a manner inconsistent with its ideals.

  It is too early in the process to start worrying. It is better to see what happens before warning that "the sky is falling."

  Pressure needs to be applied to the GB to allow JW's to have normal lives. AAWA was started to do that. We can now also present a "united front." The difference is that we tolerate dissent and have no Thought Police.

  So off we go . . .

  P.S. I am having trouble downloading the volunteer form. I would like to be a writer/editor and presenter. I am going to get help from family members and submit my volunteer application ASAP.

  Gambling, booze and whores - that's Nevada.

  How many ways....

  ... can you name that the wts hurts people?.

  two big ones for me:.

  it pushes people to the edge and when they commit suicide they say: "well he wasn't really a jw anyways soit has nothing to do with us".. it pushes people so much to do more and more and more that they get depressed, and physically sick.

  It induces paranoia and fear. One is afraid to do something normal, such as seeing a movie or being seen in a social situation with a "worldly person." Spies are everywhere, and ready to report you.

  It destroys your authenticity. The way you dress, what you eat, your level of education, your personality, and every other everyday matter become everybody else's business. If you're an introvert, you'd like to just run away and hide someplace. Even being an introvert is "wrong." I remember an article in one of the publications instructing JW's to be "happy, loving extroverts." I am an introvert and I can be just as happy and loving as anyone else, and it's none of their *%^@ business if I like to spend a lot of time alone, reading and relaxing.

  That's enough for now. I have to watch my blood pressure.

  They gotta be kidding!

  okay... soooooooooo... after 23 years my hardcore jw sister admits her 23 years old daughter may be the product of an adulterous relationship with another jw brother and is doing dna testing ... when this issue came up 23 years ago, she dismissed it as a rumor/gossip from her non-jw husband's family which happened to be source that told my brother in law about my sister's infidelity ... the reputation of this poor non-jws was just blasted to the floor as just another sign of how wicked wordly people are .... this happened in another country, so now she told the elders in her congo here in usa about this so now the only "privilege" she will have is to go door to door preaching ... i was like what ... this hypocrite has been going door to door all of this time pretending she is better than billions of human beings all the while knowing what she has done in the past ... she has played the martyr for sooooo long and she is allow to continue "going door to door" ... for me it is like they only care about bringing money/donations ... for me she should be allow to participate in the meetings and do whatever inside their kh and cult but avoid going to the public pretending she is better than the rest of human kind that will be destroyed in armageddon ... wow!.

  i am sure she is not repentant, she is either going after some money - really - or now that she is divorced is trying to connect with this man again somehow ... i already made bets with my other non-jw sister ... lol ... we think she is going for both ... lol.

  Why Is Stealing From Local Municipalities Not A Sin To JWs? Construction For Example?

  when i begin to think about jehovah's witnesses and stealing from cesar my mind begin's to spin.

  last year while walking through a very popular elder's house he showed me how he had doubled the house from the original blue print plans.. .

  the inspectors of the county are incompetent or received a bribe, how can you add 1500 sq ft without the building inspector catching the error?

  JW's are masters of self-deception. This is just one more example. I remember a brother saying, 'way back when I was a JW in the '70's that honesty went so far as to require us to correct anyone if they said something that was wrong. More doublethink, doublespeak.

  I used to work in a municipal Community Development / Building Department. The county regularly took aerial photos and could determine when someone had put on an addition without a permit. The city or town where your JW associate lives must be behind the times or apathetic.

  recently i had someone contact me on facebook, thanking me for helping her awaken from indoctrination.. i am always interested in finding out the mechanisms behind people "awakening," so i asked her what i had done to make a difference.

  it turned out i had left a complimentary remark on one of her youtube videos (she was singing a kingdom song) and she learned ttatt after clicking on my name and seeing the so-called apostate videos on my channel.. i don't think it was any of my own videos she ended up watching - from what she described it sounded like someone else's video that i had "liked.

  " nonetheless, it was enough for her to become inquisitive and start exploring, and before she knew it she was free from mind control.. the moral of the story?

  I remember many of the "worldly" people who were nice to me when I was going door to door. It's never a waste of time to say a kind word. Many people are starving for kindness.

  Your native language is not English, right? I would not recommend a JW husband to anyone, even another JW. Are you prepared to be the least important person in his life, to meet many demands, to be criticized if you reach out to help someone, to live on practically nothing, to be told you're materialistic if you want something new (unless he initiates the purchase), to be ordered to buy a particular brand of bread even if you don't like it, etc., etc., etc. I could go on forever.

  The person you marry, especially if you're a JW female, has the potential to create a lot of misery in your life. Be careful. Please.
