  after reading coc and isocf i cried, i was in shock, disillusioned, angry, and afraid... anyone wants to share their experience?.

  i would like to see what you think about these questions when compared with your account.. why people from different backgrounds feel similar reactions?

  I read CoC in the mid '80's. I have never read In Search of Christian Freedom. At the time I read the book, I had already been out for about 5 years. It was eye-opening anyway. I hadn't realized the part about Christ not being mediator for the "great crowd." That is so stupid; but if I had stayed with the dubs, I probably would have gone along with it.

  Because I was married to an elder, I had already seen some of the underside of the borg. Still, it was enlightening to find out it still worked the same way at the very top.

  I am grateful for Ray Franz and his work. I am sure he saved a lot of people from lives of misery.

  Topic About Psychological Gene (Hereditary) Patterns

  anyone recall (tried to locate/failed) a very interesting topic within past 6 mos about latest research determining hereditary patterns in individuals but more than the usual that had been determined thru mental/brain studies previously - or something?

  I wish I could find it for you. You might try googling something like "brain research and genetics" or something similar. I googled it and got links to a lot of scholarly papers.

  This topic is fascinating! I have read several stories about twins, and once about triplets, who were adopted by different families at birth. The triplets all went through a period of being very troublesome in their teens at the same time. One set of twins used the same obscure brand of toothpaste, and both had married a woman named Debbie, divorced, and then both married a woman named Linda!

  The anti-JW comments (for want of a better term) are being hidden because of low ratings. Those JW's are on the internet, those rascals, trying to make us look bad. I think we should return the favor, and give low ratings to their posts. Two or more can play this game!

  Do You Regard President Obama In The Same Way As You Did BEFORE The Election?

  lately, even late night comedians are starting to make fun of the president.. i hear more negatives about the president than ever before---even from his own voters.. (i had high hopes for him when he beat mccain but since then, i believe the president has been a huge disappointment)..

  As far as I know (and I remember Presidents back to Eisenhower) every president has turned out to be a disappointment in some respect.

  Obama has not stood his ground. He wants to be fair to all sides, but this openness on his part has worked against him.

  Mitch McConnell has led an effort to discredit the President in whatever way possible. He planned from the very beginning to make Obama fail. Ironically, it did not affect his re-election. Suck it, Mitch! Mitch's name rhymes with a word women are called if we don't like them. I say we adopt "Mitch" as the male equivalent.

  This country is still very racist, and Obama has put up with it in a very classy manner.

  i know i have been rambling alot (feel free to delete my threads if so), but it appeas i am getting to the point where i see no use in the bible.

  i feel very bad about this right now.

  There are a lot of good Bible commentaries written by Biblical scholars. If you want to understand the Bible, I recommend some of these. One of the best is Peake's Commentary on the Bible. You might want to read Werner Keller's The Bible as History. John Calvin wrote some good commentaries. There are many others, too numerous to mention.

  Reading other "holy" books might also be enlightening. My favorite is the Tao te Ching. It is short and quick to read, but pausing to contemplate each verse can be very calming and centering.

  Personally, I believe religion was invented to control other people, particularly women. I don't know why religious men ascribe so much power and danger to women, but it's clear they think we need to be monitored closely.

  Fading fast children are starting to ask questions, need help.

  ok i have been fading fast, missed a lot of meetings over the past couple of months and the kids think its mostly do to my being busy with work.

  this morning was probably the first sunday that i was home and could go but did not.

  so my 8 year old asked me if i was going and why when i said no.

  Be sure your kids have some fun. They have to go to meetings, but you can counterbalance that by taking them to the park or other activities kids like. The next time you don't go to KH on a Sunday morning, while the family is at the meeting, pack a picnic lunch or go to a sandwich shop or fried chickien place and buy one. Then when everybody gets home, take them to the park, then play some games, then go for ice cream or whatever they like. You might invite some of their friends to go along, too. It might have to be school friends if the dubs won't let their kids come around you.

  Don't get dragged down by panic or the seriousness of the situation. Show your kids that you have their best interests at heart. Ask them if they need help with their homework. Teach them things like how to use a compass by hiding a "treasure" and using the compass to find it. Get them some music they like and dance with them.

  Keep it light and fun. Show your kids that life is not all serious or doom and gloom.

  What is the WT's definition of an Apostate...

  i don't mean the 'unruly men who cook up wicked reasoning and season their brew with poisonous lies that deceive minds' definition.... i mean - who are they actually referring to when they are doing these awful talks at the conventions about the mentally diseased apostates etc.. specifically - is an 'apostate' someone who was actually baptised (baptized for you american's ) ?

  or can someone who was simply raised in "the truth" but left and was never baptised be classified as this lying, deceiving, mentally diseased apostate also?

  or am i considered to be an apostate - even though i wasn't raised in the cult, never went to a meeting etc.

  Bottom line: anyone who thinks for him/herself, who uses the brain G-d gave them.

  I'm sure, from their perspective, many active JW's are "apostates in sheep's clothing."

  i want to thank you kind folk for caring about me!!!!.

  apologies for not checking in sooner, i have been so busy with the new job, and by the time evening comes i am so exhausted to log in from my laptop (that is sooooooooooooo slow).

  update: job is going well - i'm back in sales and with the community newspapers known as the fever.
