Another probe of the Governing Body theory
by QC innote the activity topology of spiritually "gifted" faithful religiously pure network of individual christians sustaining the therapeia (qerapeiavhousehold for spiritual cure) lu 12:42under the leadership of jesus in heaven.
all accomplished by autonomous ecclesia without central control from jerusalem.
this is the model antecedent for today's class of individual "faithful discreet" slaves.

You can take charge of your thoughts and emotions. I recommend that you read Dr. Wayne Dyer's first book, entitled Your Erroneous Zones. This book deals with emotions such as anger, guilt, and worry and gives you strategies for coping with and/or eliminating them. When your thoughts are out of control, read something that will persuade you to think differently.
When it comes to family, Dr. Dyer makes it clear that your self-worth has nothing to do with how others view you. If your mother does not love you, it is her issue, not yours, unless you make it so. Don't give your family or your feelings permission to rule over you. Write down a list of your goals as a free individual. Then make a list of strategies you need to implement to reach those goals. I guarantee that none of them will be worrying about what your family or anyone else thinks of you.
Take baby steps. Tomorrow, give yourself one hour to be just yourself regardless of what anyone thinks about it. Then add a half hour a day until you are completely free.
Wishing you the best,
SandraC

December 15 Watchtower --- A New Low in WT Anti-Intellectualism
by Room 215 ini wonder whether any of you took note of the article in the 12/15 study edition wt "the simplified watchtower .. why introduced" i couldn't believe they actually had the temerity to put such tripe into print and onto the record.. i was flat-out astonished with its put-down of vocabulary building and self-improvement:.
one egregious example: " the time spent looking up words and explaining expressions (ostensibly from the "smart people's" watchtower) is now spent gaining an understanding of the scriptures and how they fit into the lesson.".
one jw cited in the article actually blames her college education for causing her to fall into the bad habit of "speaking and thinking a way that was more complicated than necessary.

How are they supposed to "understand the scriptures" if they are not supposed to learn the meanings of the words? More doublespeak.

Of course not. I left in 1979, so do I want to waste my time on that nonsense at this point? I don't know any JW's here, and I wouldn't want any of them to recognize me when I venture out, but I have to admit it would be fun to recognize one of them at a slot machine or table game gambling.
BTW, OM, your status seems to have changed significantly since I last posted here several years ago. Your family is out now? Did you guys read Watership Down, a book I recommended to you back then. How did you like it?

When I was 7 years old, in th 1950's, I spent 9 months in the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children in Lexington, Kentucky. When I tell people this, they often say something like, "Awwwww." But I say, "Yippee!" Pat Boone was in the area making a movie called April Love. He, Shirley Jones, and two other actors, came to the hospital and spent some time with us kids. Shirley Jones sang "Oh, what a Beautiful Morning," and Pat Boone sang a verse of "Love Letters in the Mud," a parody of his hit "Love Letters in the Sand." I have an autographed picture to commemorate that exciting day. Two years later, I was in the same hospital for about three months, and Fess Parker came to visit. He kissed me on the forehead! Life in the hospital was one of the best parts of my childhood. I was an East Tennessee/Eastern Kentucky hillbilly, and I was experiencing indoor plumbing and "exotic" foods (i.e., not fresh from the garden or the smokehouse, not beans and potatoes either). A new hospital was built during my first stay, and I was chosen to be the first child to enter the new hospital. My picture was in the paper, my 15 minutes of fame.
In 2002, my daughter and I went to Brooklyn and participated in the Silentlambs march. My daughter had never been to NY before, and fell in love with it!
In 2003, I went to London (England, not Kentucky) where I met up with dungbeetle, who used to post here. She and I went to the Watchtower headquarters there and left a couple of lambs. The English JW's were excruciatingly polite. We also took the Chunnel train to Paris.

At what point do the individuals in the ORG need to take responsibility for their actions?
by vajeni82 inso, i'm sitting here, being pissed about my family.
both of my parents and my only sister are jws.
i haven't had a relationship with them since they i left in 2002.

We are all responsible for our own behavior. People often do things contrary to their nature out of fear. The JW's are steeped in fear. They think it's fear of a bloodthirsty god, but it is actually fear of the elders and their fellow witnesses. They are in a high control group with an all-or-nothing mentality. It is very frustrating to deal with people like that, and frustration naturally leads to anger.
I hope you are building a happy and fulfilling life for yourself. You need to build your own support group independent of your family. Take care of yourself, and don't let them make you bitter.

One day those grandchildren are likely to start asking questions about why they never see their grandmother.
My daughter and I were estranged for a time, but there came a day when she needed me. There's no substitute for Mom. Take it one day at a time. Be patient, be loving, and be there for them.

Deteriorating content of the WT
by His Excellency inhas anyone noticed the recent deterioration in the quality of wt's contents lately?..
the spiritual food seems to be getting more and more shitty these days.
i have given a thought to what could really be going wrong, and if it is likely that some on the wiriting committee is consciously dishing out those nonsense to facilitate more poeple seeing ttat.
