  My daughter got her A Levels yesterday and is off to university in September

  she took english, maths and physics and acheived a* a* and a. .

  it is the best thing possible for me, even better than seeing her opening birthday presents or the day she won the halloween fancy dress prize at school.. her dad died five years ago but she has coped and done so well at school.

  it has shown me that despite what happens in life you can still do well and reach your goals, especially if you take a cult upbringing out of the equation!

  hi, i'm newly awakened and just needing reassurance that the wt is indeed a mind-control cult.

  i have two lovely children (under 5) and a husband who is currently asleep..

  You're very smart, Oogie. I didn't want to leave the cult, but I had to get away from my JW elder husband for mental health reasons. It took me two years to realize that they're just another religion, and not special at all except for their mind control techniques and many false predictions of "the end."

  Tread softly, and take your time. Start making friends and participating in activities you enjoy that are not cult-centered.

  No Natural Affection...

  my latest encounter with my mom has me furious and i needed a place to vent:.

  i don't post alot but for anyone who has read any of my posts knows that while i have been struggling for some time, i am still an active jw working towards leaving.. anyway, i got into a car accident yesterday.

  fortunately i am well enough to type this up so for that i am greatful.

  I'm sorry about the physical and emotional pain you are suffering.

  I used to work for a personal injury attorney, so I want to advise you that if the accident was not your fault, you probably need to get an attorney to ensure that your medical bills will be paid and you will come out with some cash to help you get back on your feet financially.

  i usually dismiss the "drinking the kool aid" scenarios that are posted from time to time, but the latest wt has another bit of fearmongering.

  the quote from page 20, para 17. elders who are reading this article can draw some useful conclusions from the account we have just considered: (1) the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.

  (2) when the assyrian attacks, the elders must be absolutely convinced that jehovah will deliver us.

  A few years ago, I was acquainted with a lady who grew up in Germany during World War II. She's not Jewish. Some children, including herself, were staying at a convent for protection from whatever might happen at their homes. Once when bombs were dropping all around, the children in her convent were herded to the basement and told not to go outside under any circumstances.

  My friend, about 8 years old at the time, of course, could think of nothing but going outside, so she did, contrary to orders. While she was outside, a bomb hit the convent, killing all of the children and nuns inside.

  Disobedience is not always the wrong course.

  if one were to poll present day jehovah's witnesses, what kind of a timeframe do you think they have for armageddon?.

  do they still discourage higher education despite the fact they've been wrong so many times?.

  one more thing about armageddon...how do they think it's going to start?

  well i do not post here very much and usually what i have to say........well...isn't that important!

  but......i am the proud grandmother of twin girls as of august 10!

  i am so proud of my daughter, who is 25, just gave birth to twin girls.........no painkillers........nothing!

  Living well is the best revenge. Figure out what you want to do, do it, and don't look back.

  Forget, to the extent possible, the JW experience, but don't forget what you learned from it.

  Christmas

  was raised a jw, started fading out about 3 and a half years ago.

  i recently had a child, and my in laws are baptist.

  they love christmas.

  Christmas is a time for families to be together and show the spirit of love and caring. I was not a JW child, and I loved Christmas! I still do.

  I understand your frustration with it because of all the work and preparation a lot of people get into. All of that is not necessary. If you don't want a tree and don't want to decorate it, there's nothing wrong with that. Just tell the family you are inexperienced and don't know how.

  Gifts do not have to be extravagant either. I usually give homemade gifts. People always will need food, so food is a great gift. I read an article about a woman who cooked dinner for the entire family as her gift. I do not spend a lot of money on gifts if I buy them. I find things on sale all year round and put them in a box, and start wrapping in November.

  Relax and enjoy the holiday. If you don't want to attach religious significance to it, that is certainly acceptable as well. Make it fun and not stressful.

  I hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays, whether or not you do anything special to celebrate.

  Lecithin

  i have been taking lecithin 1200 mg daily but i am wondering if i should take blood test to find out how much i can take lecithin safely daily?

  i am not sure where to go for blood test.

  any suggestions?.

  I used to take 1200 mg of lecithin daily. There were no ill effects. When I was taking the lecithin, my body was better proportioned. It emulsifies fat.
