  Need a Game Plan

  i'm not sure what is going on at the convention, but i just got a desperate call from a friend wanting me to attend sunday's morning session.

  last weekend, my mom invited me too.instead of saying something like, "i'm sorry, but i have no intention of going back," and having them completely freak out - i agreed to go to the sunday morning session.

  any recommendations?

  Will you be sitting with your friend (I assume you will). You can take your cell phone and ask people to call you at certain times so you will have an excuse to go somewhere to take the "private" phone call. If you don't want to stay, make up some "crisis" that is "forcing" you to leave. Be polite and kind (which I'm sure you would anyway) so your friend won't have any reason to believe you're "demonized" or unduly "under the influence of 'Satan.'" I understand your feeling that you "must" go, and that's okay. Judt don't take anything seriously. AND don't let your friends sense of panic draw you in.

  If you're having trouble making friends, take a class or join a club (Toastmasters would be great!) so you meet new people. Look in the newspaper or online for events in your town you might like to attend. There are many ways to meet people besides going back to the Kingdom Hall. There are some great people out there you'll relate to. Have you ever attended an Apostafest?

  GB guilty of the ultimate spiritual crimes. How can JW's believe this stuff?

  the gb is guilty of the ultimate spiritual crimes.

  blasphemy against god by claiming they "speak for jehovah".

  they said it again recently in an article..that they speak the words of jehovah and we should listen to those words.

  Fading Or Disassociating Keeping Family By Playing A Game

  i have a cousin who claims to have disassociated from the faith over 10 years ago.

  recently he told me that our family has never learned about this.

  honestly i dont see how he has continued to keep this up.

  A very long time ago, there was a family in our congregation whose sister/daughter lived in another state. It was in the days when we were doing those tract distribution campaigns, for those who remember, in the '70's. A special day was set aside for distributing tracts for all Jdubs everywhere. After one day, it was back to business as usual.

  A member of the family told me that the out-of-state family member told her mom that her congregation had already got their tracts distributed. Caught in a lie! There are reasons why cults change their terminology and their ways of doing things. One of them is that it makes pretenders trip up from time to time.

  If this guy has been masquerading for 10 years, he has somehow been keeping up on what they're doing in his absence.

  I was a JW in the 1960's, under the regime of Nathan Knorr, but I never saw a picture of his wife.

  i checked jw.org earlier today.

  the october 1 wt was up, but the pdf function did not work-still you could read the articles.

  the october g was up too, no pdf but you could read the articles.. oddly, after the article on belize it had an item about not missing the upcoming 2014 memorial of jesus' death.

  Can one get disfellowshipped for computer semi-literacy which causes him to screw up the online magazine? Maybe reproof will be sufficient if this is the first offense. The WT encouraged computer illiteracy for so long that maybe it's payback time. How many high tech gurus want to work for the publishing corporation that doesn't pay anyway?

  Sole CHANNEL of communication?

  has the gb ever explained exactly how they supposedly communicate with god and get new light or other "inspiration" for their "spiritual dog food"?.

  do they all sit in a room together and hold hands and join one conciousness??.

  do they fall asleep and go to the dream world and talk to jehovah there like the movie inception or something??.

  Didn't Ray Franz talk about this in C of C? I think they take a vote, and any "idea" that two-thirds of them agree with is "new light."

  We are an Evil Aposta-Family

  in the last 6 months my family and i have stopped attending cold turkey.

  it is incredible to me to see how our so called friends have dropped us like we were a snake covered in spiders.

  we actually havent really said anything to anybody about why we stopped.

  Congratulations! Welcome to freedom!

  Your children can find friends at the Boys' and Girls' Clubs and YMCA/YWCA where you live. In most places, there are summer school and vacation Bible school activities for kids as well. Help them forget those snooty smug, self-righteous JW's!

  Shouldn't the WTBTS have more than 7 million followers after 140 years of preaching?

  after 140 years of preaching and millions of books, magazines, and tracts, all the wtbts has to show is a measly 7 million members.

  the mormons, baptists, pentecostals and many other religions have more members without the preaching work.. in your opinion, is 7 million members way too many for all the odd beliefs, doctrines and practices ?

  or, should be more members since they have had over 140 years of being in the religion business?.

  They would have lots more than that if not for their bizarre predictions that sow doubt in the mind of anyone who can think AND if they didn't disfellowship anybody who looks at them cross-eyed. They might want to keep the numbers small because it's easier to control a limited number than a vast number.
