Congratulations! Freedom is great, isn't it? I have been out since 1979. I am not in touch with any present JW's because I moved far away. I had a pre-JW childhood, so I wasn't so traumatized. My family are not JW's. Believe it or not, both of my parents became JW's after I quit. They are both deceased now, so no JW's are left in my family. When I was a JW, there were no child abuse scandals (as far as I know) or other things that go on now. My big issue was 1975 -- that and an unhappy JW marriage.

Michael Jackson's mom on his disassociation

in 1987, he left the jehovah's witnesses.
there was strong opposition to his "thriller" video on the part of some witnesses.

Interesting. Poor Mrs. Jackson, having a son at the top of the world and being conflicted about having a relationship with him.
My mother became a JW late in life -- after she was no longer "able" to go to meetings or out in service. My daughter claims she never believed it, but the JW's visited her often, so that was her motivation. She did not shun me at all. Our relationship was the same as ever. She lamented the fact that I was no longer a JW (when I was, she was against it), but that's the only indication that she was sincere about the nonsense. She was a very social person, so it meant a lot to her to have the dubs visit, which they did quite often. Some of them spent a lot of time with her. They were "wasting" precious time when they could have been preaching!
In your face, Watchtower!

In the early '70's, shortly before 1975 (the big day was supposed to come), Watchtower was expanding its New York facilities. They purchased the Squibb Building, raising a red flag in the eyes of many. No excuses were offered except that it was "Jehovah's will." There's big money in real estate, apparently even after Armageddon.

Unfortunately, some (many?) who have left still think JW's have "the truth." I thought this myself until I was persuaded to attend an elders' meeting. They convinced me by their attitude that God had nothing to do with any of it, not a loving God anyway. They were horse's asses, but after that meeting I was FREE mentally and otherwise.

Some time ago, JW's (officially anyway) were anti-vaccine IN GENERAL. Maybe not everyone is aware of "new light."

Ukraine and Armageddon
by jhine ini'm going to take a wild stab in the dark here and guess that the watchtower is having a wonderful time over the whole ukraine situation.
is the whole " end of times " thing being pushed again to bring dissidents back into line .
they must be seeing as a gift from above .

When I was young, I strongly believed the Watchtower prediction about 1975. I did not pioneer because I have a physical impairment that makes walking difficult. I suppose I could have been a "car pioneer." Anyway, by 1979, probably even before that year, I was totally disillusioned. It occurred to me that I actually "might" grow old in this "system of things."
So I got a job and left my JW husband. I now have an income, thanks to my "bad decision."

Scandal and infighting has new article on the drawing board
by RULES & REGULATIONS in'brothers, we now have the xjw community on the ropes.
a scandal and infighting among the xjw community has given us new vigor against these ''mentally diseased apostates.
'' due to legal reasons, we will not name the person.

I disagree. The Watchtower description of "mentally diseased" is realizing that you already are "mentally diseased" and getting healthy. But it is very sad about Lloyd.
