after i got home from work i looked in my mailbox and lo and behold what do i find.......the very last magazine from the now discontinued subscription of the awake and wt.
no more will these magazines stack up on our kitchen table unread by my wife who claims to believe but almost never go to meetings.
no more will these magazines stack up on the bottom of the bookcase in our study.

Re Van Morrison - I must admit, I certainly wondered about him when I found out he'd recorded a song called "Kingdom Hall"...

Of course, like so many of the "don'ts" of Witness life, there'll be a lot of it happening on the QT...my 30+ yr. JW mother certainly didn't seem to have any qualms about coming to a charity stall I was helping to run and buying a strip of tickets for the tombola...but then, she thankfully has enough of her own mind to maintain a good relationship with me, even though the rest of the family have decided to shun me as an apostate (and me not even baptised - oy!)

i would like to say to all who care, i am leaving this thread for good.
the bible talks about the unbeliever and those are the true apostates.
even though there are many here who truly love the lord as i do and have shared and taught an awful lot of helpful information to help me fight the battle against false religion, i thank you and pray for each of you.

yesterday i brought you part of a current court case in which a man called palfrey is up on a charge of burglary.
Nice one, Expat! Though I think he might be guilty of rehashing one of Spike Milligan's ideas - remember his pacifist "Jehovah's Boxer"?
One other example of the genre that I just had to mention that tickled me when I saw it...a cartoon - two middle aged men in drag with briefcases on the doorstep, woman answering the door; the caption - "Good evening, madam - we're J. Edgar Hoover's Witnesses..."

i thought it might be a good idea to find out at what age or after how long we descided to leave the watchtower.. prehaps we my find a patern in it which we could use .. i think what we need to know are ,.
1.age you left the watchtower.
(or age you found out it was wrong).
1. 28/29 - Started having doubts somewhere in mid-20s, then a major personal crisis meant I started 'fading out' from meetings etc. at about 27, but the final decision to mentally 'divorce' from the WT took a while...
2. Never got dunked (so no DF/DA - a small mercy )
3. Brought up in it.

i have a question.
according to the beliefs of the jw's do the unborn babies take part in the resurection after the "great day"??
i need to have some reference in the wt literature.
The WT rails against abortion as being in contravention of the sanctity of human life and God's law against murder (including in that statement the use of the 'morning-after pill'), and yet sees no inconsistency:
(a) in deeming a baby dying naturally before full term as being a human life of somehow lesser value, i.e. not worth a resurrection, and, far more reprehensibly,
(b) being willing, in principle, to sanction the death of an unborn baby (and its mother) through their unscriptural blood doctrine - and I was that baby...so you might appreciate how words cannot describe my utter contempt for the GB

how did lactose tolerence/in-tolerence came about?.
also a high pertengage(sic)of people in asia have a severe reaction.
when drank whereas europeans are tolerent of wine/alcohol?.
Re the Asian (more specifically Oriental) alcohol intolerance issue: not sure whether your question was rhetorical, but as far as I'm aware, the problem is a genetic one - in the case of the Oriental races, the liver fails to produce an enzyme (alcohol dehydrogenase) which eliminates the toxic byproducts of the breakdown of alcohol; FYI, the drug disulfiram (Antabuse) works by suppressing the production of this enzyme, thus producing its unpleasant aversionary side-effects by allowing these toxins to be released into the bloodstream.
