Fine, go ahead and BLOCK or WITHOLD/WITHELD. There is a small but growing thinking over here to not answer such. Some of us believe that CALL BLOCKING is a sign of criminal intent. I hang up on such before they can do anything.

are jws really all that honest like they like to claim?.
in my personal experience, i don't think so.
i believe they are just like anyone else and don't "stand out" in respect to their honesty, as they like to claim.
I wrote something else earlier, but this jumped out:
From what OUTLAW said, it is obvious that JW's have a VESTED INTEREST IN COVER-UPS. Since the ORGANIZATION IS CLEAN, (per propaganda), they must MAKE IT LOOK CLEAN at ANY COST.
Bottom Line: They are no more honest than the nearest POLITICIAN.

All that I write or utter, is protected by religious freedom under the 1st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as the "free exercise" and "freedom of speech" clauses.
washington (june 17) - the constitution protects the right of missionaries, politicians and others to knock on doors without first getting permission from local authorities, the supreme court ruled monday.. the court struck down a local law that leaders of a small ohio town said was meant to protect elderly residents from being bothered at home - a law challenged by the jehovah's witnesses, whose religion calls for doorstep proselytizing.. with two weeks left in the court term, the justices still have more than a dozen high-profile cases to decide, including legal disputes involving the death penalty and government vouchers for church schools.. in other cases decided monday, the justices:.
- ruled that police who want to look for drugs or evidence of other crimes do not have to first inform public transportation passengers of their legal rights.
the court rejected arguments that passengers, confined to small spaces, might feel coerced.. - decided that the internal revenue service can use estimates of cash tips received by restaurant staff to make sure it is collecting enough social security taxes from their employers.. - rejected arguments that texas redistricting hurt hispanics.
JW's have always maintained that they weren't salesmen; they have fought and held onto that "right" to APPROACH YOUR DOOR. Wonderful, they actually have helped freedom and rights.
But, as D8TA notes, IT ONLY GOES SO FAR. What they have done is held onto the RIGHT TO A FIRST APPROACH. They cannot do anything about your RIGHT TO REFUSAL (FIRST, LAST OR ALWAYS).
This includes a RIGHT OF EASEMENT; RIGHT OF EASEMENT allows anybody to go straight to your door and knock on it. (NO detours allowed.)
However, a RIGHT OF EASEMENT can be REVOKED!!!
So, if JW's ARE a significant problem in your neighborhood, a sign that specifically mentions them will STOP THEM COLD. It's that simple.
You have already suffered the FIRST APPROACH; you deem them PERSONA NON GRATA. You now have the RIGHT TO REVOKE the JW's RIGHT OF EASEMENT. They CAN'T ABRIDGE THAT RIGHT!!!
Sorry, Stratton, Ohio, nice try; get out the sign posts & paint.

i had a visit this morning from a couple of older sisters from a local congregation that i'm not terribly familiar with (i don't live in the territory for the congregation that i was raised in).
anyway, i didn't have the balls or energy to question them about the usual things (recent dateline, etc.
) because they were these sweet little old black sisters that really reminded me of the witnesses at the beginning of "friday".
The last one that came to my door sang it out LOUD & CLEAR... Although I had equally clearly told it to LEAVE.

of course, as we knew would happen, the supreme court voted in favor of the dubs.
just off fox news live.
they can go door to door without getting a permit.
"Just remember that free speech and such can also benefit us as well."
Well, it does. This is especially so if you started your own religion, although you could consider yourself a RELIGION OF ONE.
Oh, and your RELIGION can have IT's OWN TRIBUNAL's which would declare their TRIBUNAL invalid. Then, if you get into a religious dispute (catfight) with another religion, the SECULAR COURTS have already declared themselves OUT OF IT. Wow, let God settle it!!!
"Those people in Ohio thinking they could stiffel religious freedom wasted a lot of money on court costs." "These silly towns that try to stop them ..." didn't bother to check for about 60+ years worth of precedents. I was hauled in and spit out of the Police Station several times 40 years ago by smarter towns than those.
OK, they put a slightly new twist on it. Not good enough.
"I say we start going door-to-door also." There are more efficient methods.

this is the response that an attorney, practicing in the state of ca, responded to my question if minors are bound the verbal contract (questions 1, 2 given after the baptism talk).
"nice to hear from you.
in response to your question, although i am not a contracts attorney (i have some knowledge in the area), in my opionion, i don't believe that you can contract with a minor and force a minor to perform under the contract.
Interesting, OC,
But we would still need some clue as to the particular strategy and line of reasoning that he is following.
Particularly, what principles is he using to overcome the several obstacles presented here???

i'm sorry that due to "technical difficulties', last weekend's poll did not appear, but thanks to all those who enquired about why it was not posted.
glad you're enjoying them!
so, time to put your feet up, so to speak, and have some fun with this weekend's poll.
Having been almost 30 years "out of it", I was struck with the thought that things must have changed by now. Although avoiding the Dub minions as much as possible, I thought an interesting thing to ask would be "what has changed in the last twenty years"?
Things are too hectic with family battles when I talk to old acquaintances, so other matters are discussed.
In fact, I have the policy of "I don't do DOCTRINE" in those instances.
I got the chance to ask this in Asia when I met a JW that I knew I would never see again and who didn't have a clue who I was. Unfortunately, it was before the "generation" bombshell.
Overall, I like Perry's thoughts on this and I prefer reading about it here.

Hmmm... mulling this over.... RIGHT!!!
In negotiating with the owners of the stadiums or whatever, the COST OF CLEANING inevitably comes up:
1950:
Joe Assembly Overseer:
Well, Mr. Stadium Owner, there is no need for that 20K$ charge, why we CAN DO IT OURSELVES!!!
Mr. Stadium Owner:
OK, but see that you do.
Joe Assembly Overseer:
Quick, make up some talks on CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS. And start a CLEANING DEPARTMENT. Oh, and encourage brothers to be Janitors & Window Washers...
Accounting Department:
The receipts are up. And we talked a brother into donating all the brooms, mops & cleaning supplies.
1951:
Mr. Stadium Owner: Well, you did a good job on the cleaning, as you said. Welcome back.
Joe Assembly Overseer:
Hey, get that over to Public Relations. The Stadium Owner said we were
great on the cleaning. Get that out to the papers. Hey, you got those figures on how many Janitors & Window washers we have added since those talks last year??? Oh, set up a Cafeteria, we can make money on that.
Quick get some talks that include how wonderful a job being a SHORT ORDER COOK is.
Accounting Department:
Hey, great idea on the Cafeteria; we made money & got lots of brothers to donate everything you can imagine.
and so on, ad nauseum

Still could be a 'close one to call', Guest. That is especially so with the tendency of the Dubs to 'shoot from the hip'. 'JW justice' gives new meaning to the term 'trumped up charges'.
What I thought was great was that the Insurance Underwriter didnt even blink. "We have a specialist for that. One moment, Ill put you through."
