I may get a visit from the P.O. :(
by crownboy ini think i may have a potential problem on my hand.
over the last year or so, i've been attempting to go the slow fade route with the jw religion.
for the most part i've succeded, as my significant decrease in jw related activities has been greeted only by brief "pep talks" by my parents at worse.

Everybody has had good thoughts (one in particular, later).
However, be careful NOT to have these conversations with TWO of the blackbirds in suits. Get real sick or something if that happens. Leave RIGHT NOW IF TWO OF THEM CONFRONT YOU.
SAY NOTHING or as little as possible: I did that, after quitting pIONEERING for years. I just listened, shrugged, nodded and SAID NOTHING!!!! You can do that until they dont know what to do.
"Anyway, do NOT tell them what you really think. Either try the above, or just sit there and say "yes sir, no sir, three bags full"....and just continue on the way you are. In two years you'll be out of there and that'll be that." I did it for longer than two years.
(I was actually threatened by a rough, soon-to-be Elder. I just shrugged, "took it in stride" and left town about a year later. I "got rid of" them!!!)
Work "works" wonders. I went on NIGHT SHIFT!!! Gee, you might as well take me off the TMS. I had just moved several thousand miles. I moved again after going on night shift

Along those lines:
The "Ive been stumbled" routine is a good thought. Ive wondered about doing that one. Tell him that its "too dangerous to reveal anything, it will get someone in trouble" and that "everybody in authority is just plain vindictive and all are afraid of them". If he pushes it, tell him its one of the Elders. Then clam up tight!! If he really gets on your case, tell him its him!!! That could be interesting.
I have thought in recent years (been 30 years since I went through what you are doing) about answering them with something totally off the subject and never going back to their conversation train. I do really technical stuff, so I would ask them how to design a "switch mode regulator", for instance. (Make sure your inquisitor IS a wINDOW wASHER and not a Design Engineer, for instance.) Be sure to talk about something they have no clue about. They will eventually give up on you, but perhaps write you off as LOONY Just do NOT GIVE THEM A STRAIGHT ANSWER.
"I need a new stereo; how about a loan"? I think this one is under used. So, you endure the lecture on materialism. "OK, got it. Now about that loan..."

laser surgery
by finnrot ini just got back from newport beach, where i had laser surgery on my eyes.
since the 5th grade, i have had to wear glasses.
each year my eyes have have needed a new prescription for stronger glasses into my 30's.

That's our rich set for you. Newport has a wonderful Xmas parade of boats all decked out with light-shows. Worth seeing.
After my surgery (different from yours, but they're both miraculous for my money; uhh, insurance got mine: I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT COST!!!) I really could SEE (pun accepted) the possibility of the BIONIC age!!

The cataract surgery didnt seem so bad from where I was: strapped down on the Operating Table!!!
Actually the first one was trouble and had to have additional stitches on a second emergency pass. The second one was like: when is it going to hurt?? Hey, we're DONE!!!!
And like Laser Surgery (so I hear; I can't have that done) it IS A MIRACLE!!!
Finnrot: I had mine done at a good CATHOLIC HOSPITAL about 10 miles from yours.

Hmmm....
The FDS doesn't have as much "bandwidth", so that must be the "narrow & cramped path" as compared to the Internet, which is "broad & spacious".

I recently was talking to my "stepmother"; she was considering a SEPARATION from my father.
I said talk to someone who knows DIVORCE law & procedures, so she got a lawyers advice: do it the way you plan & you lose your rights!!!
"Well, thats what I gotta do for the organization!!!
What are you going to do for yourself??? OK, talk to someone local who is familiar with divorce procedure. OH, DOH!!! NONE of these people know diddly about that!!! Oops.

i prided myself on my politeness as the door was slammed shut right almost into his nose.
this same elder was stood there looking like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, the next door neighbour though told me a story about him recently and her threat to knock him off his ladder.
