  my father has told me that if i can disprove the bible on any point he will discontinue beliveing in it.. i will be the first to admit that bible theology is not my strong point so i need any help that i can get.. thanks in advance

  RE the Kingdom Interlinear:

  A relative mentioned that he started a "family study". They just decided to read from the KI(?) and happened to start into it's introduction. He said they encountered (to his son's great surprise) a statement to the effect of "...the name Jehovah really isn't in there, but we feel IT BELONGS THERE..."!!!

  I don't have a copy, so I am unsure of this. Can anybody verify this???

  Elsewhere,

  Can you post the pertinent "ID spec's" on the couple of books you have mentioned? That is ISBN #, author, publisher, publishing dates, edition #'s & so forth. Those books look "juicy" & i'd like to get them for my reference library.

  George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just walked away. He said nothing.

  Later that evening, George, quietly parked his pickup in front of Sarah's house...... AND he left it there all night.

  Does this remind you of anybody you know??? Does this remind you of any organization you have encountered???

  My apologies to any real Sarah's (or George's) present for this exercise of literary license. Resemblance to any real Sarah's or George's (living or dead) is purely coincidental. Source unknown; this came rumbling down the 'Information Superhighway'.

  Congratulations!!!! The "average Joe" would call it "getting your act together"; a "shrink-ologist" might call it "becoming integrated" while a JW can't feature it and would call it something that begins with a capital D!!!

  Regardless, the important thing is YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH.

  Since no one commented on this, I will:

  "... Thinking about opening a Bible is daunting. But we know it will all fall into place in time."

  Your 2nd sentence is a great start.

  Question: what was you NATURAL (removed from JW pressure) feeling/reaction/"need" in regard to the Bible? Just give that time to surface. Let it take all the time it needs. Whatever that was will come "floating" to the surface & you will know it when you see it.

  Personally, I was interested in researching the antiquities, the languages and reviewing passages by comparing various thoughts on them. I found myself collecting various translations, particularly if they were interlinear or bilingual. Then I met a person with a similar background (his father was also a domineering "lifer" Fundy preacher) who had a scholarly bent. We have great religious discussions of a truly sincere nature.

  Whatever of your personal religious side resurfaces, I'm sure you will agree it was something the JW's stifled. Good hunting!!!!

  Any theories why sudden growth in WTS?

  lately is observed some small growth in wts troops.

  any idea what is causing it?

  i've heard that an age of baptized new members has dropped and 9/11 makes an impact.

  Yep; the "15-minutes-a-month rat" with a generous dose of prodding from all the Book Study Conductors or the Secretary, over the phone, if necessary.

  And if those "mirrors" don't work, they'll use Mac's mirrors.

  especially when you were never baptized and have not been an active member in years!

  yesterday i went to my moms to get some of my stuff out of her garage so i could put it in storage.

  i walked right into the snake pit.

  In a similar vein, I talked at length to my non-JW cousin this summer. The occasion was after my Dad had to be hospitalized. She functions as an informal "family historian" and keeps track of everybody for purposes of reunions and such.

  She wanted to know about the effects that the religion had had on my branch of the family. I told her to the nth degree all the sordid details. This included how my father had driven all other members of our immediate family to distraction over "the Troof" (tm). He has also insured the family of being totally dysfunctional in the process, at least in regard to dealing with each other.

  She then proceeded to tell me how these things had affected or been perceived by other branches of the family. Her questions, thoughts and reactions were genuine and sincere; I could feel real empathy, concern and love from her manner.

  (This is unlike my father, who turns questions into interrogations and then lectures and finally demands that you follow the religion. It's always the same pattern.)

  She finally asked if I was happy. I replied that I was very happy. Further, I would be "tickled pink" if my father would SIMPLY LEAVE ME ALONE. (Until I put my foot down, he called every 2 weeks for a session of interrogation, browbeating, preaching and demands.)

  The beauty of this one is that it gets back to Dad, as well as the entire "super set" of the family. And it has always been his project to convert/drag some more of them into the fold. :)

  What a climax to his drama: the entire cluster of about twenty or thirty families getting the message of how messed up JW's are, if they stick to their foolishness.

  Indeed, Why don't JW's just mind their own business?

  Apparently, China went through a period of time (during the late "Mao-era") where people were killing off their enemies by making false accusations against them. Due Process was lax or non-existent and there were sanctioned pro-government vigilante organizations roaming the country.

  The "snitches" were effective and deadly.

  "If this law is passed for issues of child abuse then it's just the beginning of the slippery slope and NOTHING said to a clergyman will be sacred."

  Yeru: You are right. A slippery slope, indeed. WATCH THAT FIRST STEP!!!

  tonight is our last night.

  the family all left yesterday, and we had an extra two days alone.

  it was lonely, and we sure missed everyone.. we get home late tomorrow night, but i will have the computer on until tomorrow morning at least.

  Our inheritance is going to WTS

  just found out yesterday, by way of the grapevine, that my jw husband's inheritance from his parents, is going to the wts.

  i had been trying to tell my husband that the wts is doing this now, and he did not believe me.

  and would u believe it, we heard yesterday, from his his nephew, that it is so, they are not leaving anything to their kids, all to the wts.
