New Light on the United Nations (U.N.) (Scarlet Beast)

there appears to be "new light" in the latest watchtower magazine (june 1st 2003 issue).

several watchtower publications for the last 50+ years have said that the united nations (u.n.) organization ("the scarlet-colored wild beast" of revelation) would definitely be the organization that will carry out jehovah's judgment on "babylon the great" (false religion), and then, under satan's [gog of magog's] direction, the united nations organization would become "greedy", and try to attack the remaining remnant of the "anointed" jehovah's witnesses and their companions, the "great crowd" of "other sheep", and then jehovah and jesus would destroy the united nations organization, along with everyone else who was not a jehovah's witness.

Lots to ponder & I’m still going back over this one.

But yes, I agree; having "grown up" reading/studying the "Your Will" book, this topic is interesting to me.

About 3 or 4 Memorials ago, somebody I used to study with sent me a copy of the current "Daniel book" WITH a copy of a "Book Study" schedule for its "proper use". (We weren’t that hosed when I was "in".) This was a serious hint to "get back to the KH".

I spent two nights reading the new book (not 6 months!!! ), comparing it to the old one and eyeballing the changes. Basically, they amounted to a watered-down ending in the closing chapter(s).

The result: the same as in the above quote from Proplog!!!!

Quite so!!! Responsibility is called for here. Of course, disagreeing with the "rush to judgment" crowd usually gets one branded as a "JW apologist". Sorry to disappoint that crowd. It is more important not to have to become a "‘POSTATE APOLOGIST".

And as has been shown in the recent war, "first reports" are frequently in error. This site, by rights, probably has a higher per-capita density of critics than any other site on the Web. The "town-crier" for questionable reporting can only expect to be "stoned".

i have to say that at one time i wouldn't even consider reading material at a discussion group like this one.

but in the last two years, discussion groups like this one have been indispensable to my dealing with a very personal crisis of faith, and i want to thank the brave and loving persons who sponsor sites like this, and the brave and loving persons who participate in them.

like many here, i was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses and never questioned the validity of the wbts view.

After having congratulated myself for convincing her that the masks were not the answer, I still found myself talked into sending her some. So, 50+ N95 NIOSH 42CFR84 Standard Surgical masks are winging there way to Asia. I threw in some from an Industrial supplier, as well. Those people are OUT OF THEM over there!!!

BTW, that specification is NOT based on medical requirements. It is an Industrial spec, having to do with PARTICULATE FILTRATION. The Surgical version specifically states that IT IS NOT EFFECTIVE AGAINST GERMS on the carton!!!

Industrial versions are used by carpenters, sanders, painters, gardeners and you name it.

And in some locations the authorities are REQUIRING incoming passengers to wear the masks!!!!

The only value that I can see of the masks is that they may instill better habits of the wearer, such as not rubbing the eyes and nose by forcing you to stop, think and "scrub".

And the aggravation here is that while the causative agent has been confirmed, the transmission path(s)/method(s) have not been verified. So, there may still be some outstanding "vector"!!!!

Oh well, my next trip keeps sliding out there into the future.

Another Frustrating Phone Conversation

Boy, this is just so "on the money" that it hurts!!! My condolences.

Calling out the "concerned" question/interrogation is great!!! That "mirrors" or reverses the "guilt trip" crap (that you can see coming) right back onto them.

BTW, turning the tables and "hitting her up" for charity was a stroke of genius.

I just got a letter from my father. He has been harassing me with the "end is near", "go back to the KH" & "you won't get life" for 30 years. So, I told him off and quit talking to him.

Now, the letter has a opening page of PREACHING & PRYING; that is 2 of his 3 P's.

The second page tells me 1) how old he is, 2) about his property holdings, 3) I want to share this with you & 4) ta da!!!!: IF YOU TREAT ME RIGHT. That is the 3rd of his P's: PUSHING my buttons/me around.

So, I'm about to let him (and his friends/cronies/JW's buddies/accomplices) know that 1) I am fed up with this happy BS, 2) I have visited a few STALKING SUPPORT GROUPS, 3) he has crossed the line and violated California State Penal Codes, 4) if he is going to bequeath money, he or his estate should do it and SHUT UP, 5) if I owe him Money, he or his estate should sue me or SHUT UP and 6) if neither 4 or 5 apply, he should go away and SHUT UP.

Mutter, mutter, grumble, grumble...

So, I relate and commiserate, too. Go ahead and vent!!!

Can you eat blood now?

i have no trouble with transfusions to save peoples lives but recently we went to a wedding and one of my little lads had been up to the buffet and come back with a plate of food, on it was little circles of black pudding (blood sausage), he didnt know what it was (i have never brought it home so he hasnt seen it before) but just threw it on his plate anyway.

while he wasnt looking i took it off and threw it away!

couldnt bring myself to let him eat it and i still couldnt eat it because of the background in jws.

Nope, I'm not kidding; but I only did one. It was crunchy; shells you know. And, honest to God, one of the shrimp JUMPED out of the bowl and into the plate of the kid sitting beside me!!!

Chinese hosts seem to take great pride in a combination of one-upmanship and running a "gross-out" contest. From here on out, I'll take my "culinary career" on the quiet side, thanks.

And I'm not going to another Chinese Christmas party without a DUCK CALL!!!!!

I was offered it in China: like Dubla said, the "gag factor" won out. I quickly told my girlfriend 'absolutely not', but tell our hosts it is a religious prohibtion. That was accepted.

I gulped the "drunken shrimp" (live shrimp swimming in chili sauce) down with a glass of beer; the fried snake was not bad; the chicken feet reminded me of that rubberized coating the miltary puts on binoculars; the duck skull was mama-fufu (so-so).

This will get a "fast-blast" of the Mustang story

As I started the "slow fade", I went to some night school at the local Community College. I piled on the Computer Science courses, while doing "Hardware oriented" Technical work.

And I did get the proverbial SHEPHERDING CALLs for "pursuing higher education". So did 2 other "brothers"; one had been told by his JW boss to get some Accounting training for his secular job

The "guilt trip" card was played to the hilt. So, I back slid on finishing school.

I moved away from my home state and got a job in the Aerospace industry. My heavy Electronics experience got me past the "you didn't finish school" syndrome. The Computer Sci classes really kicked in at the right time. The normal "Hardware" work I was assigned suddenly had to have Computer Interfaces: I became a Hardware/Software "crossover", a real "double threat".

Now I was totally on my own, thousands of miles from "home" and struggling, so the job became foremost. But, I took what school was directly related to the job at hand. I advanced quite nicely.

I also had carried out the "slow fade" after 1 long distance move, 3 local moves and the master stroke of GOING ONTO NIGHT SHIFT FOR MORE MONEY!!!!!

Later, I moved once again to another state. This really screwed all the local connections to the JW's up; that is, except for my father, who tried to reestablish them, against my wishes.

Anyway, by now I had achieved the title of ENGINEER, even though I was non-degreed. It got harder and harder to go back to school (lost momentum) and I was advancing successfully without having finished, anyway.

So, here I am: a Senior Engineer, with partial school, making a decent to excellent wage and DOING SOMETHING THAT I REALLY WANT TO DO. All of this is NO THANKS TO JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES and with little help or encouragement FROM FAMILY OR FRIENDS.

So what is the Mustang story/name all about???

I discovered a bit of military trivia: historically, in the USMC (United States Marine Corp) an Enlisted Man who advanced to Officer status WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE FORMAL CHANNELS was known as a MUSTANG!!!

How I view the Watchtower religion

i've just come to realise how much this religion reminds me of those book and music clubs.

you know the ones, buy 1 get 5 free etc.

like the clubs it seems like a good deal to begin with until you read the small print.
