I remember a few years back a day out I had with some JW 'friends' in Colchester. We were walking through the centre of town when out of the corner of my eye I noticed a disabled girl in a wheelchair collecting money for charity. I stopped, turned around and put some money in the collecting tin. When I made to rejoin the group they were standing there with their mouths open. I was asked "why did you give her money???". I replied that it was the right thing to do and bugger anyone else who was too mean to cough up for those who need help. As you can imagine there were a few raised eyebrows.

What ISP do you use?
by Gadget inbroadband has just been made available in my area and i want to sign up for it(dial-up is driving me mad....), but i don't know which broadband isp is the best one to use.
i can get a good deal with aol, but i've been warned against using them.
i would have used freeserve, but i've got a dial up connection with them now and its real real bad.

I had NTL 150k 'broadband' :) installed a couple of months back and I am pleased with the service. I'd go for the faster 600k or 1mbit if I had the money though. The only downside is that the upstream on NTL's service is half what you get with BT, Blueyonder etc. I only chose NTL because I have the Cable and Phone with them too (plus it's only £17 a month).

I got a sore big Toe, what do to make it better?
by Singing Man ini know this may sound kind of dum to talk about but its been a pain for a long time now.
my big toe on my left leg has been hurting i think it to be caused by a ingrown nail but i don't see anything and i cut the nail stright accross.
the side of mmy nail is inflamed and if i really get mad at it and squeeze hard on my toe pus will come out i soak it in salt water at night and put neosporen on it and wear shoes that have room for my toe, though its just been the last few weeks that i have wised up and got a pair that fits.

The Over-Commercialization of Christmas

when i was a kid, it was unthinkable to advertise anything about christmas before thanksgiving.. nowadays, these smiley-faced rosy-cheeked actors are hawking their christmas wares to the point where it has become nauseating!
it's easy to read between the lines -- what they're really saying is: (on their knees with hands clasped) "please, please buy our products!

there were the elders who always seemed to be there for my family.
there were the families that were the central figures of the congregation and even the local witness community.

What makes me sad is to see those older couples who swallowed the bull about armageddon being 'just around the corner' and never made any plans for their retirement. instead we are given another talk.
i am of the opinion that it was discontinued because too many far out answers were being given for one question--and it may have prompted discussion after the meeting that would result in speculation and/or leanings toward apostate teachings.

for me it was the trs-80 model 1. i bought it for $10 at a second hand store when i was 10 years old.
took me forever to find info on the thing, an manual, and a patchcord to hook up a cassette deck.
