  do the jw's still have a belief in headship?

  i'm talking about where the male is the head of the house.

  his word is law, his wife is in subjection to him, his children are meant to sit and listen in awe to his every pronouncement.

  I had a discussion with my Mother about this yesterday.
  I told her that the thruth was an excuse for overbearing men to control their
  wives and children and that a womans opinion was worth nothing.
  She tried to deny it but pretty much gave up when I pressed the point with
  a few examples of people I knew.
  I've lost count of the number of times I have seen the Mini Hitlers striding
  round a convention or assembly with their cowed wives and children in tow.
  Turned my stomach every time.

  Have you ever wondered why they always stand up to give talks at the kingdumb hall? It's because if they were sitting down their voice would be so muffled nobody could hear them!

  Why do men "play" dumb?

  so i am here this morning with my octopus arms, making the kids breakfast with one hand, getting them dressed with the other, doing their hair with another hand brushing their teeth with another hand, etc.

  you get the picture... while my husband sits at the table reading the newspaper.

  both kids are complaining of sore throat and have some sort of summer cold, so i asked hime could you please get the medicine and give them some medicine, and what does he do?

  one day a lady came to my door she did not say she was a jehovah witness and she was all on her own.. she seemed very nice and started talking about having accurate knowledge and such like.

  i didn't have my bible at the moment.

  i said to her yes but the verse below that says that this knowledge is found in jesus i asked her what immanuel meant and she looked at me very strangly as if i had two heads.

  i dont have much time to watch a lot of tv b/c im so busy w/ work and school but i am obsessed with monk and i have to watch it every friday night.

  i even hate making plans friday nights cuz i dont like to miss it...what a dork, i know.

  i also like family guy on cartoon network...so hilarious.

  I have to agree with Frenchie, Father Ted has to be one of the funniest comedy series ever broadcast, unless you are a devout catholic of course :). It's on my Wish List at Amazon and I will be buying the dvds before the end of the year. I downloaded the 'Kick Bishop Brennan up The Arse' episode and watch it when I need a good laugh.

  This wasn't at the KH I went to but my friend told me of a Congregation he visited where it was the rule that any brother giving a talk HAD to wear a white shirt. They had a selection of white shirts in various sizes in the cloakroom for brothers to change into. They were brought down to earth by a CO who was rather colourful and wore suits and shirts that were defo non standard. Apparently when he gave the first talk of his first visit wearing a yellow shirt some super-righteous brothers were close to fainting (ok slight exageration) :)

  i just installed one here and am not sure what to expect as far as operation is concerned.

  it has been going on and off for an hour now.
