Some great observations Nosferatu. I also think that Watchtower has become more radicalized over the past twenty years or so. Even a JW relative of mine labeled the new Sparlock film "disgusting."

the 2014/2015 international conventions have been announced, and will be held in the following cities.... melbourne, australia october 2014london, england august 2014quito, ecuador january 2015frankfurt, germany july 2014athens, greece june 2014seoul, korea september 2014mexico city, mexico november 2014harare, zimbabwe august 2014as always there is a long list of requirements for those wealthy enough to attend - including the requirement to keep your "exemplary status" right up to the day of departure or lose all your money.. there is also a curious paragraph that seems to indicate an element of subterfuge.... special rooming: confidentially, we will be asking the host branch office to poll local brothers to determine if some might be able to provide limited rooming provisions in private homes.
this information is not to be made known to the applicants in general.
however, if the elders are aware of a longtime, faithful servant, perhaps with many years of full-time service, who is not able to fully finance such a trip, he could be encouraged to apply and the secretary can check the box on the electronic jw.org application that this delegate qualifies for the special rooming provision, if available.. basically, watchtower is admitting that it is possible to attend an international convention even if you can't afford the hotel, but they don't want everyone to know because they want as many full-paying delegates as possible.. my article on this can be found on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/watchtower-announces-new-international-conventions-while-downsizing-district-conventions-for-2014.
I've updated my article regarding wheelchair users having found the following in the "Applicant Instructions" document...
"All applicants should be in good health and not in need of the assistance of someone else, nor dependent on a wheelchair, an auxiliary oxygen supply, or similar health-related devices."
Apparently God is not as impartial as we are led to believe.

Hi everyone
The 2014/2015 international conventions have been announced, and will be held in the following cities...
As always there is a long list of requirements for those wealthy enough to attend - including the requirement to keep your "exemplary status" right up to the day of departure or lose all your money.
There is also a curious paragraph that seems to indicate an element of subterfuge...
“Special rooming: Confidentially, we will be asking the host branch office to poll local brothers to determine if some might be able to provide limited rooming provisions in private homes. This information is not to be made known to the applicants in general. Basically, Watchtower is admitting that it IS possible to attend an international convention even if you can't afford the hotel, but they don't want everyone to know because they want as many full-paying delegates as possible.

and two weeks ago i highlighted another video where sparlock helped an ex-mormon.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmesmlhydru.
though it still depresses me to think of all the young ones (including my own relatives) falling under the influence of this dangerous piece of propaganda, it's at least some small comfort that the sparlock video is backfiring so dramatically among thinking non-jws.. .
i can remember some people on here talking about this, but i can seem to find the post?
any other weird articles from the 20's?.
Clayton J. Woodworth, who co-wrote the Finished Mystery, was responsible for most of the crazy stuff printed in the Golden Age during the 1920s, including the bizarre crusade against aluminium.
Pre-Freddie Franz, Woodworth was Watchtower's "go to" crazy guy for printed nonsense.
[edit post: VM44: "The article was "Negative Gravitation" written by M.L. Adams and published in the March 24th, 1926 issue of The Golden Age." ....although we apparently can't pin this on him!]

whatever your thoughts on the shouting, displaying a simple web address is an extremely effective and non-confrontational way of getting the message across - and in this case it looks like hundreds if not thousands of witnesses saw it.. .

Welcome to the forum Johnny!

for years the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses has held a regional convention in the tri-cities, attracting about 16,000 of the faithful who spend an estimated $8.6 million while in town.. .
but they won't be coming in 2014.. "what they told me is the decision has been made nationally to downsize the number of conventions from 400 to 100. they're simply consolidating," said kris watkins, president and ceo of the tri-cities visitor & convention bureau in kennewick.. .

Also, designs, Crisis of Conscience and In Search Of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz were both written from a religious perspective, yet nobody can deny their usefulness in helping JWs realise the flaws in their organization. Why should a different rule apply when talking to people?
I'm not defending those who are simply out to convert people to their way of thinking or belief system, but I don't think that is what we necessarily see here.
