Nimrod - the original freethinker?
by Seeker4 inin an earlier discussion on this board about whether the nwt mistranslated the verse in genesis about nimrod being "a might hunter in opposition to jehovah," there was some really interesting research material presented.
as i read it i began to realize that there seems to be a central reason why nimrod has been presented as one of the truly evil men of human history.. the witnesses emphasize that he was the one who started war, becoming a killer and tyrant.
but in one of the quotes, there is a more likely reason for nimrod being vilified and demonized.

How Big is Your Hard Drive?
by teenyuck inthis is serious...i know many of you are serious computer intells...i am a comp user who knows how to set it up and run programs..that is about it.... i am looking to buy a new comp...soon...i have a 400 mhz, pentium ii...it locks up, gets fatal errors and simply will not do many things that newer comps can...it is 4 years old.
my question...what type of computer size is best?
80 gig hard drive, 512 ddr sdram, 1.8 speed?

Oh, and a good choice for some if you are comfortable doing so, is rolling your own PC. It's cost effective IF you already own your operating system and office software. The nice thing about doing this is you can pick quality parts for every peice of the system. These pre-builts ALWAYS cut corners in several places - cheaper video cards, power supplies, etc.
I've even added water-cooling to my system, sure is nice not hearing a thing from the PC. Just a couple of really quiet low-speed fans blowing over the radiator. And to pimp it out a bit of neon showing through a case window Now I just need to quiet down the HD and CD!

I hate to pick - but there is NO consumer level chipset out right now that has an 800MHz bus right now. Let's reveiw the 2 major players ...
Intel - runs a quad pumped 100Mhz front side bus. Effective speed here is 400Mhz, but don't get confused by salesman BS. The 'real' or actual speed is 100Mhz. But info is passed on 4 edges of the signal, so you get an effective speed of 400MHz. Amazing, I think the 800MHz bus speed you are referring to is the speed of the RAMBUS memory, which opperates at 800MHz. But it does not communicate with the front side bus at that speed. A small but important distinction.
Soon (next few months) Intel will release a chipset that will run at 133Mhz, also quad pumped - so effective speed will be 533Mhz.
AMD - Also runs a 133MHz front side bus. It's double pumped, much like the above quad pumped Intel. So effective speed is 266Mhz. Chipsets that support a 166MHz double pumped bus are appearing now, so on them effective speed would be a 333MHz bus. As a side note, some of us have been running 333MHz for awhile now - my 1.33GHz AMD will run up to well over 1.5GHz.
All in all I tend to lean to the AMD side, but either chip is a good choice.
