No sympathy...but maybe a little support!
by joeshmoe ini'm heading down a path i think alot of you have gone down... and i'm certainly not looking for any sympathy here.
i've read some experiences here and at other sites that shows me that alot of folks have gone through alot worse than i am.... basically, a year ago i left brooklyn bethel after a five year stint.
already sick of structured man-worship, i struggled for while to pretend, but my heart wasn't in it.

I'd keep it on the down-low Just don't go to meetings, leave that part of your life behind. If called on it by non-family just smile appretiativly and say "thanks for your concren, I'm doing just fine right now".
You are right with the parents it will be tougher, but just play the doubting JW with them. They probably won't 'turn you in' - they want to keep a relationship with you too (at least I would hope). So just be prepared to answer them, but not too much detail. Everyone else (elders, etc) just side-step the questions. They don't have any right/need to know what you are thinking.

Sexual Abuse of wives in the Borg
by Lady Lee inand justly so.
when it came out, the elders and my mother chose to put me in foster care and keep the abuser in the home and congregation - supposedly to keep me safe.. i believed that at the time.
my step-father who had abused me was no longer around so it was "safe" for me to come home from the foster home (more than 500 km away).

Yes, this is quite common not only among JWs, but many religions - since the bible is quite clear on "man's" superior place. So what a perfect place for some badass full of himself jerkoff to find a meek little women who will perform for him. I've seen this WAY to often. And close to home too.
There's only one way to fix these men - castration. That should do the trick.
And to those who have never seen this in action, there is no way to describe the effect that emotional abuse can have on a person. When a women goes to the elders for help and they tell her to 'give her marital due' and that she must be supportive of her husband 'who is doing such hard work for the congo' what is she supposed to do? I'll tell you what's expected - she should shut up and work harder!

California, USA Circuit Being Dissolved
by AMNESIAN inaccording to the cos service talk this week to a local congregation, a southern california circuit is being disbanded, its congregations dispersed to other circuits.
as i was not there and did not hear his comments first-hand, i have no further information.
i doubt, however, that being there wouldve yielded much more in the way of info as i am told that, naturally, he gave no reason(s) and simply reported that this circuit would be acquiring two additional congregations while a currently-assigned one would be moving to another circuit.. while shuffling congregations among circuits is not an extraordinary occurrence here, dissolving one altogether that draws from its many urban communities is.

They don't pay cause they're not there anymore!
However, why should the WTBTS care how many assembly halls they build, they certainly don't pay for them. They can and do however sell them for a nice and tidy profit! What a nice scam. Remind me to start a cult someday ...

What a slick peice of BullShit. They dance around the question, showing OLD watchtowers (notice how old the one that you can read the title "Child Abuse" is?) but NEVER once actually address the question of what that policy is!! Once again they flap their mouths without saying anything of substance.
This will fly with JWs, because all they need to hear is the WTBTS say "Nuh-un, we DO have a good policy" and they will but it hook, line, and sinker. But the public at large will see right through this type of BS.

Did Satan prove God wrong? a possible bibical flaw
by Leander inmost people are familiar with the account of job where satan makes the claim that the only reason humans serve god is because of selfish reasons.
god allowed satan to test this theory on job, so job was beset by numerous trials but he refused to give up on god or blame him in anyway.. it would appear that satan was proved wrong in this particular bible account but was he really?
would the majority of mankind follow jobs example if they were faced with similar trials?

If Satan is a 29 year old black guy waiting to get off of work in the next 5 minutes then that would be me.

It sure does sounds as if his desires are to be 'normal' and live his life not in strict accordance with JW requirements. Be careful though, as a JW's 'conscience' can kick in with a moments notice, and they can do an about face, dropping all 'bad' habits along with a full confession to the elders. This would spell a probable end to your relationship as well.
Just be careful, be aware that you are playing with fire. I would leave marrage and especially children out of this picture until you have a very well spoken agreement about how the two of you will handle the religion issue. For example, will the children be able to celibrate their birthdays? Christmas? Will they have to attend JW meetings and service? A few points to consider. You might want to broach the issue of how strongly he beleives that JWs are 'the truth', would he consider info that shows they may not be all he's been taught to be?
Sadly, you are being put in a bad situation. Many JWs are loney people, and he's found you. But if his love of the religion is more than his love for you, you are the one who will suffer for it. And often it has been the case that a long-time JW will 'play' with a 'wordly' person just because they want to live out their natural desires - but later they feel bad and drop the 'bad' things. Just be careful - you're putting yourself in a place where you can easily get hurt.

I blew off a 25 min. service meeting part tonite
by Leander ini told the presiding overseer that i'd probably be late getting home from work.
but i actually spent my time driving around and enjoying the spring weather.. in other news i'll be going in for a job interview tomorrow within the company.
i'm really hoping i land this job, because as soon as i can secure a new position (my old one is being phased out) i'll be exiting the stage of the jw comedy of errors.. .

Yes, blowing off the meetings was one of the more joyfull times of my exit process! Nothing quite like the feeling of doing what you want knowing that the rest of the JWs are silently suffering through YABM - Yet Another Boring Meeting(TM)

Will WTBTS cut back donations?
by VioletAnai inif there are people leaving in the multitudes...do the wtbts still need so many funds..... i mean printing would go down...kingdom hall costs etc....do they need as much money?
.
so do you think they will eva make an announcement asking that donations be kept to a minimum....seeing as they have said in the past that jehovah provides them with enough to keep the ministry going and nothing more so it cannot be used and abused in other ways...... or.....

Not to mention that they drive away sucessful (read more well to do) people in the western world, so even in the 'rich' countries they tend to draw the dregs of society. Yep, $$$$ are not coming in like they used to, though I bet they are still not hurting yet - they are just (like any other company) reducing costs to increase profits. Or is that increased prophets?

Oh, they never dropped the word 'generation' just made it meaningless. I suppose they could now imply that the generation is 70 years from 1935 - 2005 (and stretch it just like the last one to 2015-2020). I doubt they'll do more than imply though. That seems to be the tone of this article.
