I always attended expecting to hear something significant. Never did. Always left thinking, "OK, so just what exactly was so 'special' about this talk?" Never once did it sound any different from the normal boring crap spewed from the stage on any other Sunday.

Witness Cruises
by undercover inanother post on another thread about a witness cruise got me to thinking about when the dubs would block whole sections of cabins on cruise ships and have "witness cruises".
i never went on one myself, but i knew a few that did.
i heard some pretty sordid stories.

Aren't Witness Cruises one of Dante's level's of hell?

Does God Overlook WT Doctrine and Examine Hearts?
by stevieb1 inanother thought provoking issue which begs for a few well thought out replies:.
we all know about the ever-changing doctrine of the wtbts and the occasional hypocrisy of some of its members, but does not god see beyond these matters and examine the heart of the vast majority of jw's who believe in christ and try to be christians albeit following the faulty leadership of the wt?
in other words does not the good outweigh the bad?.

What god would you be referring to? If it's the god of the
Old TestamentHebrew Scriptures I would say an emphatic NO. He made it pretty clear that stepping even 1 inch over the line = instant death. The Jesus teachings would indicate that the answer would be YES. Then there are all the other god's to think about too ... . -

The WTBTS and Incipient Creature Worship: Are the Anointed Now Demigods?
by Room 215 ini'm prompted to ask this question as i ponder the troubling picture found on page 260 of my wife's isaiah volume two book.
as farkel noted in a previous thread related to this illustration, there's nothing inadvertant about anything depicted in their literature; illustrations such as these are calculated and group-approved for the imagery and message they convey.
as those of you with access to the book in question are aware, staring back at the reader are four cadaverous faces of recognizable members of the governing body surmounting an array of smaller portraits of a non-descript multi-ethnic and varied age assemblage of ``other sheep.".

Annointed or not has little to do with the worship granted to those 'higher' in the org. It happens at all levels. In the congos, the elders are 'worshipped' (although not very much a lot of times! ). But even more so, C.O.'s, D.O.'s, bethelites, and missionaries are all fawned over whenever they visit local congos. Of course, at the top of the dung heap is the Gov Body, a group of old idiots that probably couldn't even hold down a Wal Mart greeters job if they had to, yet they control the fate of 6 million people, and practically have their *%&$'s sucked wherever they go.
Creature Worship? You BET!

In a JWs mind, the WTBTS is pre-emptively "exonerated" for all wrongdoings.

Two door cars. A demonstration of love?
by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. ini would term it an outright act of selfishness for any witness to own a two door car.
how can that person expect that car to perform as an efficient source of spreading the good news when the fact is that is really disfunctional.
quite acceptable for going to meetings, but what about witnessing in the rurals?

My Dreams Have Been Indefinitely Postponed

he proceeded to tell me that my car was damaged.
i was thinking, "great, someone must've busted out a window or slashed my tires.

Francois- I don't think you understand what I wrote. I owe $12,000, so if they give the finance/loan company $6,000 then I'll still owe $6,000 out of pocket. The car is totaled, so it's not like I can drive it. Also, when they total a car, they take it so that they can get salvage money. If I keep it the car, then I have to pay for the repairs, which would be an incredible amount.
Stinky - reread his post - it's dead on. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT accept the insurance co's attempt to screw you over. It's their business to see how much they can get away with. They will put every screw to you to accept less than you are due. You MUST stand your ground and demand that they replace OR fix your car to it's original condition. That is their responsibility. Do not sign or accept any deal from them until you are satisfied that you can replace or fix your car with it.
To start, find cars like your in the paper or online traders post and begin gathering prices on what it would be to buy a car of your year, make and model. Make sure they pay enough that you could take that $$ and outright buy your car all over again.
You will have the pain of dealing with credit again, since you will have to close your current loan and get a new one. I would start by calling the people you have you loan with now, explain the situation, and see if they would like to keep you as a customer. They just might roll you over to a new loan.

We'd Like to KILL the apostates, but we can't....
by betweenworlds ini read this quote at tom's site (thanks tom!
) and then looked it up for myself on the wt cd.
this is truly disturbing and shows their true mindset....this is from the nov. !5th 1952 question from readers.

Oh and silly me thought that the whole Jesus thing did away with the Mosaic "sacrifice everything that moves" Law thing. But of course the WTBTS wishes it could bring back the old law, then they could complete their metamorphesis into the Pharasies of old.

Hey I used to get the 'you better be glad we aren't in Isreal because we would have to stone you for what you just did' speech all the time when I was a kid. Usually for things like hiding evil demonic cassette tapes (like Depeche Mode, INXS, etc) from them. Or (gasp) watching R rated movies. Them Jehovers seem to have a great desire to stone people, oh if it weren't for those pesky USA laws that forbide parents from killing children.
Boy, I got such warm fuzzys from the love I felt in those statements...

Didn't you hear? Uganda is the new KOTN. They have upgraded to a new self activated, heat seeking, guided spear, and are obviously poised to threaten the Anglo KOTS powers. Beware all you sinners, repent for now that the KOTN has been ID'd, Armageddon will come.
Soon.
Any day now.
Promise.
Maybe.
