As you point out, "He who takes the minutes of the meeting gets to say what happened at the meeting". Anything that didn't agree with what the authorities wanted to say got branded "a gnostic heresy".
the earliest of the papyrus manuscripts of the new testament can be dated to the second century the latest to the eighth.
papyrus manuscripts are almost always written in the uncial hand.
the earliest of the parchment minuscules can be dated to the ninth century, the latest to the sixteenth.

Gee, I hope you are not teaching this sick shit to your children. If you are, please advise your location as I wouldn't want my kids to play with your kids.

not only can it end diseases but it is also endorsed by god.... numbers 25:8: "then he went after the man of israel into the vaulted tent and pierced both of them through, the man of israel and the woman through her genital parts.
at that the scourge was halted from upon the sons of israel.
That is one hell of a way to deal with an outbreak of "clap". Effective though.
ok yesterday i was talking to my dad (moe's thread reminded me) he said something about how bad satan was...and said, yeah but "wasn't it eve and adam's fault?
i mean yeah satan laid out the sales pitch but they could have said no.
you know gone home, talked it over with god, it wasn't even that high pressured a sales pitch.

The discussion seems to be more about Omniscience rather than Omnipotence. Regardless, it seems to me that you may be overlooking another possibility. That possibility is that none of this is real (read permanent). Have you never had a dream that seemed very, very real? Could it not be that all of this is merely a dream? Could it not be that we are asleep, have never left our home in heaven, and are merely dreaming the dream of separation? A paragraph from the Manual for Teachers in A Course in Miracles puts it this way:
"The world will end in joy, because it is a place of sorrow. When joy has come, the purpose of the world has gone. The world will end in peace, because it is a place of war. When peace has come, what is the purpose of the world? The world will end in laughter, because it is a place of tears. Where there is laughter, who can longer weep? And only complete forgiveness brings all this to bless the world. In blessing it departs, for it will not end as it began. To turn hell into Heaven is the function of God's teachers, for what they teach are lessons in which Heaven is reflected. And now sit down in true humility, and realize that all God would have you do you can do. Do not be arrogant and say you cannot learn His Own curriculum. His Word says otherwise. His Will be done. It cannot be otherwise. And be you thankful it is so."
No one is going to be lost. Joe Alward makes a good point. If God knows it, it must be so. God made us and knows us as perfect, whole, and complete. Nothing can change that although we dream it otherwise.
second kings, we learn that menahem, leader of the israelites, smote all the people who refused to follow him and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up (2 kings 15:16).
later, in hosea, we learn that because the land of samaria rejected god, samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her god: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up (hosea 13:16).
hosea decided to carry out gods vengeance on the people by killing the unborn babies carried by the heathen women.

The flood and Sodom and Gomorrah were natural disasters. In the Hebrew mind, God was the author of all natural disasters and they wrote it that way. That doesn't make it so. Their view of God was very warped. It doesn't mean that ours has to be.
jesus dying for our sins... um, why.. because adam made a mistake?
based upon what?
jehovah's rules?
I must say that I've always had a problem with the "ransom sacrifice" concept. I just can't imagine a God that would require that kind of sacrifice. Perhaps Jesus came to show us that death is not a permanent condition and can be overcome. In that sense, his death was necessary and certainly demonstrated his great love for us. But as a "ransom sacrifice". I don't think so. Perhaps people want to make Jesus special so they don't have to be.

Don't be ridiculous! God had nothing to do with any of that. Those stories are just another version of "the devil made me do it". Those slaughtered by the Hebrews were every bit as much God's children as the Hebrews.

I found your post to be very interesting. I had not realized how much influence the printers/publishers had in determining what was going to be in the canon. I am also glad to know that I am in good company for having doubts about the book of Revelations. I had not realized that Martin Luther did not consider the book as worthy of being in the canon. Most people do not realize how easy it is for errors to reep into the text when copies are being made. It happens even in this modern age when printing is well established. I can imagine how it must have been for some poor scribe doing hand copies on a warm afternoon in an unairconditioned monestary. I would like to reread your post when I have more time and respond again.
observing the interplay going on in live chat the other night, i was reminded of a line from the master's notebook which some of you may know is a book within a book by richard bach called illusions.
"the bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.. rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.".
whether you realize it or not, many of you have become a family.

Whether you realize it or not, many of you have become a family. It is a family with no last names, but only first names, Xenawarrior, Xena, joy2bfree,eyegirl,SaintSatan,dakota red, cowboy, megadude, roo, barry, searcher, animal, lying eyes,Jessica,Yerusalem,William Penwell,Jade, refiners fire and many, many others. I guess Simon is the daddy. If you want to feel a part of the family, you have only to observe the "tidbit" cited above.

I know what you mean about those battleship fire missions. I found myself flying tight formation with about 6 of those projectiles in an AC-130E Gunship. We got no warning of any kind and were damn lucky that we weren't hit. We were under "control" of Alleycat at the time.
