Worldly Girl is right. You are being set up! Seems like in his mind the marriage is over. Bet his mother is "egging him on". Any chance of getting him into counseling?

He totally blew smoke up my a$$!!
by LovesDubs ini hope you all remember me...a few months back i wrote and said that my husband who is a jw...a very passive agressive jw...told me i was satan's minion and that my literature on the shelf had demons that were attacking his jw literature and he moved all of his literature to our bedroom floor.
he also said that my activities online were going directly against jehovah and that it was destroying our marriage.
being as we have three young kids, and he wasnt going to meetings much anyway...i decided it would be a small thing for me to give up my online persona and remove my literature to save the marriage.

JW contribution to human thought
by Robert_V_Frazier ini think i've discovered one real contribution to human thought, specifically logic, that has been made by the watchtower bible and tract society in general and every single jehovah's witness who has ever debated about the nwt in particular.. .
they've invented a new logical fallacy.. .
i thought it could use a spiffy latin tag, so i've called it the aliquis alicubi fallacy.

Very insightful post. I seem to recall that it was demonstrated in a court case that their primary "translators" were incapable of reading elementary greek.

Can someone please explain
by blacksheep ini've been out of the org so long that my memory is fading as to exactly what their rationale is for not celebrating thanksgiving.. i was speaking to my dad, whose not a jw but a supporter of it (for my mom's sake), and he was for some reason informing me of my mom and his attempts next week to take a relative (for whom they are caretakers) up to visit my aunt and uncle (several 200 miles away) for thanksgiving.
but he made sure to inform me how my mom and he would not eat with them (they'd go somewhere, like a movie, for a while).
again, forgive me, i've been out too long.

I agree with Mysterious. It is a standard cult tactic to keep their members separate and prevent them from associating outside the cult.

Can We Give Words of Support To Simon For This Forum???
by minimus inwe go through cycles every so often here.
we get new posters every week and at times we lose some posters.
when most "newbies" find this site, they are thrilled to be able to express themselves in a way that they could never in a kingdom hall.

What a lovely thing for you to do! Especially considering the shameless way that Simon "groped" you at the Florida Freedom Fest. Don't try to deny it! I was there and saw the whole thing. And in front of Ang, too! The picture was posted for everyone to see. Simon is a wonderful fellow and certainly deserving of your magnanimous forgiveness.

Remember Herbert W. or Garner Ted Armstrong?
by wednesday inrecently i have remembered a man named armstrong and a mag.
he used to publish "the plain truth".
i remember in the 60-70 many people used to get him mixed up with jws.

I remember that my Father used to get the magazine "Plain Truth" and often listened to Garner Ted Armstrong on the radio. He thought highly of him. Of course, Dad was pretty conservative. I worked with one of the followers of Herbert Armstrong. He was a psycho basket case and was disciplined for sexual harrassment and racism. He filed suit against our employer for "religious persecution". Of course he got nothing except a large legal bill.

Just don't understand them...........................
by gti2002 inmy husbands family are jw, my huband threatened to be but has changed his mind.
his mother is absolutely foul to me and has taken every opportunity to try and get in between us and split us up.
if we ever row, she takes his side and starts pointing out what an awful, disgusting (yes she actually said that!

I have been dealing with the witnesses for more than 40 years. Those who have advised you to "kill with kindness" are absolutely right. It confounds the hell out of them and they don't know how to deal with it. Don't issue any ultimatums or force any choices. Demonstrate your love even though you are unwilling to attend the meetings. Unless your husband is incredibly dumb, he will begin to understand that you have the "high ground".

Who do I thank?

he is a very happy secure child.
of course, as the proud father i was beaming.

I'm with Steve on this one. Jesus certainly didn't intend to found a new religion. As Steve says, I think he came to show us how to connect and to demonstrate that death could be overcome. In their desire to make Jesus special and an object of worship, everyone seems to forget that he said, "The things that I do, shall you do also, and greater things shall ye do, etc................" The wonderful thing about expressing gratitude to the Source of All Good is that we open ourselves up to receiving even more good.

Did Daniel predict the Roman Empire?
by City Fan in.
why can i never cut and paste from word without a quarter of the content going missing?.
aaarrgghhhh!.

I agree with you City Fan. The history seems to get more accurate as you approach the time of the writer, namely167 BC. That Antiochus IV Epiphanes was a really bad dude. Unlike the Persians, who left the Jews alone, the Greek conquerors wanted everyone to eat greek, speak greek, worhsip greek, and think greek. By a strict interpretation of the rules for Canon, the book should not have been included in the Old Testament. It wasn't old enough.

Jesus Christ is still a human
by hooberus inthe watchtower teaches that jesus is no longer human since he died, and that he was "resurrected" as a spirit creature.
thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:" psalm 8:4-6 .

Hooberus-You speak of bodies as if there were two, a spiritual body and a flesh body. There is only one body. That body was created in the image and likeness of God and is immortal. It is perfect in every way. The so called "flesh body" is merely our "concept of body". We built it ourselves. Because of our false beliefs, it will malfunction from time to time and will eventually age and die. Jesus was resurrected in his immortal body. However, he had perfect control over it. He could make it appear solid as a "flesh body" or walk through closed dooors as the occassion demanded. He must have been able to alter his appearence as neither the women at the tomb or the apostles walking on the road to Emaeus recognized him right away.
