didnt need to be in any inner sanctum to see who was related to who, and who was engaged/married to elders daughters and on the fast track to advancement.

As a Witness - What did you Notice in How Elders Got Appointed ?
by flipper ini found it amazing being raised in the witnesses to see exactly who got appointed sometimes as an elder.
it seemed that the criteria in my opinion had more to do with getting 10 hours a month in field service, answering at meetings, carrying microphones as a ministerial servant, or handling the magazine or literature counter !
in doing these " functions " and attending meetings on a regular basis - a man was thought to be considered " spiritually strong " and qualify to be an elder and serve on judicial committees judging people's personal problems.

by Quentin indue to health reasons (cost of a pack as well) i've gotta stop smoking....terry suggested smokless cigeretts.
what's a good way to stop?
i have managed to cut down to less than 10 a day, but have got to stop period.

definately the gum quirky, my next door neighbour gave up his cigars on that stuff just as i was moving ten years ago, hes still chewing it now, his missus moans it costs more for his packets of gum than his cigars ever did and at least she could empty the ashtray and be rid, instead of finding blobs of chewed gum stuck to anything and everything.

People Who Refuse to Tip at Restaurants are Embarrassing!
by White Dove inegg and i were treated out to dinner three times last weekend by out of state visiting relatives.
just found out last night that they don't believe in tipping, at all!
we suggested the places to eat and frequent those places ourselves.

EAM if its stated on the menu that theres a service charge then i think you're obliged to pay it as you are deemed aware of it when you order,
if they've just stuck it on the bill (trying their luck) then youre not obliged to pay it.
london is a tourist spot so maybe theyre more likely to do that to hit up the tourists especially as a lot of tourists expect that as standard?
tipping can vary in the uk, its not totally alien for people to round the total up to a note and say 'keep the change' if you've given a good service.
when i was working as a barmaid i would let customers buy me bottled alchopops and put them in a corner to take home later, at £3 a pop i could sometimes earn the pub as much or more than they actually paid me for a shift. (not the easiest feat in some of the pubs i worked in cos some of those ol gits squeaked when they walked)
my boss asked me why i got more drinks bought than her other staff..... i told her when her other staff were ready to pour the next pint as customers hit the last inch or two of their drinks, remember what they were drinking and their rounds,were able to remember the preferred glass shapes with widgets or no widgets,serve in both bars without forgetting the back bar, wipe the bar regularly so their elbows werent sitting in a puddle or sticky patch or leave them sitting behind a pile of used glasses, and still manage to listen to every sob story and engage the customers with a smile instead of a grunt then maybe theyd get bought more too.
so no, we are not obliged to tip here as a rule but if you give or get a good service then it really ups the odds that someone will tip. even the tight bast'ds

she never wore much makeup.

and try and make sure you got lots of light cos what looks great in front of a house mirror can scare the beejebus out of you when you catch a glimps in your rear view mirror as you get in the car in daylight.
