My JW friend just read Crisis of Conscience!!
by fullofdoubtnow ini have recently been in fairly regular contact with a long - time jw friend who, despite my da status, decided to put our 25 - year long friendship before the shunning doctrine.
she has visited me, discreetly of course, several times, and has read on jwd and other sites when she has been here.
she recently watched some of the child abuse videos on silentlambs, and all she has seen has caused her to doubt the truth of the wts, after 45 years as a baptised jw, with many of those years spent regular pioneering.. it was the local dc a couple of weeks ago, and she only went for half a day, and missed the rest of the sessions, and she hasn't been attending all of the meetings lately either.

by metatron inis the watchtower organization filled with child molesters?
maybe not - but the cano incident should make us think about an allied problem,.
namely, general corruption and rot.. many years ago, it was not unknown to find strange photos and other materials in a bethel brother's room, after he died unexpectedly.. that doesn't prove that there is a massive problem with child molestation.

Awesome news, I read that same book as well as In Search of Christian Freedom (I reccomend that one too) in just under 3 wks very recently. I couldnt put them down either. I am 100% convinced now that this "religion" is a false one, before that I was maybe 90-95%. Tell your friend to sign into this forum as soon as she is ready as I am curious to hear her thoughts too.

Nope. The catholic church is still going strong and there were literally 100's of priest's uncovered who were perverts. The WT will never shutdown completely but I believe stuff like this will push it into being at least a little more "mainstream" in the future.

i find my wife's comment heartening, since it implies that she knows that elders are not necessarily spirit-directed.

The news item was shown on CBS affilaites in the NYC area but its possible that up to 10 million people are aware of this, depending on how many watch the news on a given day but it was shown in Northern NJ, NYC Metro area, parts of eastern Pennsylvania and Connecticut. They can't hide this one, too many JWs living in the areas mentioned.

My mom is stepping up her not-so-subtle mind games with kids.
by ithinkisee inmy mom and her new husband (robo-elder with gb connections) have been trying to undermine us as parents so i have been on the offensive stopping it.
we recently left to another state to get away from the jws.
she has been sending letters to my oldest daughter about the assembly.

I found out after the fact (he had moved already) about another elder who on my body who had a porn/masturbation problem. The CO knew about it and chose, for whatever reason, to cover it up.
Let see.....another elder who paid his employees off the books and never paid any workers comp for them, in the U.S. this is illegal and not owing the govt its due.
I cant think of anymore specifics now but there are more, there are charlatains in all groups of people, the elders are no different.

I have said this to many a JW before on this site and I will say it to you. Contact the elders in your congregation and see if they will calmly and in a loving way allow you to explain why you read and post on this site. Forget all the dating and prophecy crap and lets see if these JWs will apply Jesus law of love with you, giving you the benefit of doubt without suspicion. Let us know how it all works out for you.

Being an elder, about power not faith.

personally, i have served in positions of power at several stages in my life.

The ones who allow them to be that way afraid of losing their position (for the sake of peace and unity on the body)
The ones who try to counter-balance the power-mad ones (but get worn down and eventually leave)
I fall somewhere between these 2 categories, never was about the power for me. I despise the ones in category 1 above in Blondies post. After reading Crisis of Conscience and now half way through In Search of Christian Freedom I see now that its a top down effect... the bodies of elders are behaving like min- GB's. I bet these GB memebers seldom if ever go on shepherding calls themselves, hypocrites!

The thing is that they can not prove it in scripture. They claim that the New Testament (Greek Scriptures) was written for the annointed only but where does it actually say that? It doesnt in the bible and they are just covering up the fact that all are in union with Christ. If you are still a Christian it is blasphemy.
