So many of those... one in my cong now actually sent a younger MS, friend of his, to ask me why he wasnt appointed yet. Since I am still a "closet" apostate I told him "he isnt one for things like this, sending you to ask instead of asking himself" He ran back w. his tail between his legs. Idiots!

PIONEERING DON'T CROSS THE ELDER BODY
In most congs this is really about it...though Blondies answer of having an elder father, grandfather, etc doesnt hurt either. However your elder family member must be liked by the rest of the elders too

Be Honest: Did You ACTUALLY Report Accurate Field Service Time?
by minimus ini bet most people did not.
i think nearly everyone counted time spent on breaks.
or sitting in the car for an hour and a half while the elders did a "shepherding" call.

I'd say up until around 2001 I did... then ironically, when I became the Cong. Secretary, I started putting fake hrs in. What pushed me over the edge was not that I was the Sec. it was a conversation I had with a pioneer elder about a brother in his Bookstudy who only put in like 8 hrs or so every month... I say ONLY because this elder proceeds to tell me that if you subtract the 4 hrs he spent studying with his kids every month (which by the way he doubted also) then he was really only out in the field about 4 hrs a month.
I couldnt believe the disgusting, judgemental attitude and from then on I just put in a range of hrs... anywhere from 8-14 or so. Since I also have kids I figured well hell they are judging me anyway so who gives a crap right!?!?!? Ray Franz in his book describes nicely how unscriptural and unchristian it is to "count your time" in service to god. The whole system is full of shit.

Are high gas prices affecting Pioneers?
by truthseeker in.
gas prices have finally broken through the $3 mark.. i have heard a few complaints about the cost of gas having an impact on people's budgets - especially if they pioneer.. it gets worse for those pioneers who drive an suv.. have you heard similar comments?
could the pioneer numbers be affected by the price of gas?

Not in my congregation since the majority of the pioneers are quite well off. In my cong its apparently ok to be materialistic as long as you pioneer.

Disgusting comment regarding the baptism at the DC
by under_believer inat the service meeting the other day the "friends" were given an opportunity to discuss the district convention (portland, or, june 30-july 2).
) people baptized at that convention.
a bigger number than i remember for at least a decade.

I always wondered how they can claim that baptism is a more serious step than marriage and yet at 11,12,13 if you go to the elders and want to get dunked they say yes. This same person 5+ yrs later wants to date and get married and they advise him or her to wait until they are older and can make a more reasonable "mature" decision. Yeah that makes perfect sense...IDIOTS!

Yes ... I was one of those people that had the pleasure (barf!) of seeing him in his speedos on the roof of the office complex.
I think, I may have been up there that day with you and heard you toss your creamed beef!!

FROM the source about downsizing
by Pistoff ini toured wallkill in the last month; the tour guide stated, in very clear terms, that the wt leadership is "sending home" many older couples and older ones, and replacing them with younger ones as they need to.
he did say it was because their experience was of more use in the field.
(snicker.

It makes financial sense to filter out the old and sick and replace them with younger, healthier workers.
It made financial sense to some in Jesus day to sell sacrificial animals at the temple as well. He kicked them out on their arses...maybe he needs to do a re-inspection of the WT besides the one he suposedly did in 1919. Christian love at work?!?!?!

WT desparate: Aug 15 WT- In Our Next Issue: When A Loved One Leaves Jehovah
by truthseeker inno, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.
it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".
of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.

Believe me, if inactive JWs will officially be considered having DA'd, the elders would be told first in a letter from the WTS; the first notice will not be in an article in a WT
Yup and so far there has been to communique from HQ alluding to such a thing, just some recent thing that I glossed over about a special campaign (I think this has been mentioned here already). One of the elders in my hall is convinced that the big A is coming soon here are his lines of reasoning: 1) Dlieverance at Hand DC 2) We will study "Revelation its Grand Climax at Hand" in January 3) The campaign's straightforward theme I think it was something about False Religions end 4) the times are so bad. I just stared at him, nodded, and brought something else up. So deluded these people.

Update on my friend - the PO called
by fullofdoubtnow inmy friend marion has just arrived at my home, and she certainly has had an interesting few days!
she hasn't been attending meetings lately, and on saturday the po from her hall phoned to ask why.
actually, he had phoned several times before, and left messages, but she hasn't been replying and, in his own words, he is very concerned as to what, if anything, is wrong.. she remembers the conversation fairly well (pity she couldn't record it), and it went like this:.

If this PO falls into the rare "actually cares" category of elder he really may just want to see how she is doing. If he is a company man obsessed with his posotion and prominence then I think he is suspicious and wants to determine what "issues" she is referring to. Rest assured that he has at least called her bookstudy overseer and/or the Congregation Service Committee to get input on how to proceed.
Good for her for not lying and saying she hasnt been feeling well, an excuse I often use lately to stay home from meetings. Tell her to stick to her guns and give them no reason to pry any further unless she is ready to DA since there has to be at least 1 elder on that body who enjoys sniffing out doubters and "apostates"

by Joker10 inthe march service report shows 1,010,868 publishers.
