i went and saw spiderman 3 this last weekend and wondered what others thought of it.
i liked it, but felt there was a lot less storyline covered, which seems to be the problem with all of marvels third installments (x3).
i wished it could have had more time with venom, and not the quick battle at the end, that ended all to quick.
Sandman becomes an invincible sand monster, he just stops fighting the police and then comes up and apologizes to Spidey. WTF??? "Oh, I'm sorry bro, here, let's hug."
I agree with the above assessment...it was like the superfriends at the end. Everyone was crying and forgiving.
*** ssb song 105 hail jehovahs firstborn!
1. lets hail jehovahs firstborn.
made known jehovahs worth.. .
*** Ssb song 105 Hail Jehovah’s Firstborn! ***
1. Let’s hail Jehovah’s Firstborn
—God’s Heir he has been made—
Who since he was created,
His Father’s voice obeyed.
He made all things existing
In heaven and on earth,
And he, as God’s own Spokesman,
made known Jehovah’s worth.
"He made all things existing.." This is obviously taken from this verse:
(Colossians 1:16) 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him.
So why is the [other] left out in the song book? Harder to sing I guess?? By the way the brackets mean that they added that, it wasnt in the original writings.
can brothers buy their way to stardom (eldership) .
have you known anyone who got to being an elder because of his financial status or by having a broker working for him.. i knew a brother who had been out of the borg for many years, who on his return purchased a carpet for the kingdom hall.. this must have prompted the elders to see his spiritual qualities, because soon after he progressed up the so called ladder, to arrive at a "glorious elder".. have you come across this sort of thing?.

When appointments come around they like to promote friends
I find this to be more important than money in many cases. The elders will try not to promote someone they feel will not tow the company line or agree with the particular mood of that body. It is true friends are often made via money or flaunting of their lifestyle...i.e. hosting gatherings where classy food and drink run aplenty where elders are always invited, but that person still may not be appointed if the PO and other prominent elders dont see eye to eye with him. Unless of course the CO likes him then he'll be shoved down the elders throats and likely be made PO or Secretary or SO eventually.

It happens I'm sure but I still wouldn't call it the norm since there are some dillusional elders who still think its a spirit directed appointment. In other words the men that qualify must still go out in service on both Sat and Sun and go to all the meetings and have an "exemplary" family if he has one.
Men mostly get "promoted" in the WT via kissing influnetial elders and CO's asses on a regular basis. With the CO I'm fairly certain that money is involved
most persons that i knew used either sickness or work as an excuse.......what about you??
?
I use working late quite often. Instead of working I'd play Age of Empires III with co-workers. So much fun! Its spring so I suspect a lot of allergy issues coming up too.
ray franz states that, according to governing body decisions on matters of faith, fault found with certain of a religion's teachings makes said faith, in its totality, unacceptable to god.
therefore one's association in that religion renders one unclean.
as a consequence, a jehovah's witness would be disfellowshiped for joining the y.m.c.a.
I think that Ray Franz sincerely thought that changes could be made in the organization.
Pahpa this is what I meant by technically in while disagreeing with the WTS. My point was people think he championed the great apostasy and left the org but in reality he was thrown out! I guess he eventually would've left on his own but he did not leave he was DF. Some who post here have had much more dramatic exits. I read both Ray's books and his low key exit from Bethel fits with the humble, quiet, non resentful attitude he showed in the books.

He doesn't expect JWs to stay in the Borg and wait on God...his example is proof of that.
I am not in any way critisizing Raymond Franz but Blondie said the above. However, Isn't it true though that he did not leave the org but was basically spyed upon by the GB and dismissed from Bethel, then disfellowshipped for eating with his boss? Who's to say how long he would have been "technically" a JW while still having feelings that the org is wrong.
i remember one windy summer day, after a meeting on sunday morning, i walked out of the hall behind a sister who was part of the church congregation with her two teenage children.
her husband did not attend.
the wind caught her dress unexpectedly and blew it up a'la marilyn monroe and revealed that she was wearing (shock, horror) french knickers...... there were a few murmers behind me which i at the time put down to things like "oh poor girl, so embarrassing".
Star Wars promotes the occult (the Force and whatnot).
What blasphemy.... that elder should've been taken out and shot in the back of the head for that comment.
i drove by the kingdom hall tonight and saw only 12 cars parked in the lot.
five years ago there would have been at least 30.
I would imagine that it depends on the area of the U.S. or other country you are in but here my area of the U.S. the young ones are leaving in droves...not getting baptized, getting df or just simply moving to a cheaper area and disappearing off the JW radar.
The other english congregation that meets with us in the same hall is suffering severely, their TMS and Service meeting looks like a bookstudy. From what old timers in my cong say before the 2 split about 20 yrs ago the attendance used to be over 150 every single meeting and some sundays almost 200. Watchtower's waters are drying up particularly in the english speaking field here in the U.S.
