When You Were Sitting During The Meetings What Were You Really Thinkng About?
by minimus ini used to listen to all the stupid comments and wonder if i could sneak out of there and scram!
even after i resigned as an elder, i went for a while and eventually began missing more and more meetings.
but while i was there, i'd listen to comments, chuckle to myself how dumb it all was and then go home with the knowledge that my days were numbered there..

Min I do the same thing, I never stay for the WT study
During the meetings I think about what I will eat when I get home, sometimes I will go to the bathroom and go on my iPhone and play temple run. Also if there are any sisters wearing tight, short skirts, and there always are, I try to make out what type of underwear that they're wearing based on the outline's in the skirt. Much easier in the summer ,no pantyhose.

Do JWs Still Feel The Need To Understand Their Teachings Or Have They Pretty Much Abandoned That Idea?
by minimus ini think most jws do not know how to explain their religious beliefs.
i don't think they could explain their views of 607 b.c.e.
, 1914, any prophetic bible books, the old vs. the new fds understanding, the blood fraction reasoning, etc.. do you think the average witness is able to explain from the bible why they believe things as they do?.

I think that the vast majority of witnesses really don't give a shit about their doctrines. There are still a few fanaticals in every congregation who are "armageddon mongers" and keep crying "the time of the end is close, look at the terrible weather we are having, earthquakes, etc. etc." But even these fanatics most likely wouldn't be able to explain the beliefs accurately.
I mean the whole F&DS slave crap, seriously!

Quick question, did you feel lonely at the meetings even though you were part of the action?
by Theocratic Sedition injust curious, something i've noticed only lately.
i'm in the mix within the congregation, stay late after the meeting is over, converse with quite a few people afterwards, make plans for saturday and sometimes sunday service and yet i feel so awfully alone walking to my car afterwards.
i feel lonely when i'm talking and laughing with people after the meeting.

It works well on a portable, touch-screen environment. Such as a full Windows 8 tablet (not Windows RT)

People just need to keep all this in the proper context. Carribean has what, few million people if that. The east coast of the U.S. has 50 times that many people or more. More people are being affected by this storm. Also its important to note that storms such as this are rare on the east coast. Additionally, the way life is structured here in the U.S we depend on all these things that people in other countries scoff at. Easy to purchase Gasoline, Grocery stores, etc. In other words you can not directly compare the eastern United States to the countries in the carribean.
Complain about America all you want but a disaster is a disaster period. Please lets keep prespective and realize that there are indivduals suffering this isnt about the government, or what country you live in.

The same month I lost my faith in God was when I was appointed an elder
by Most Noble inmy appointment came just when i started having mixed feelings about the existence of god and wt's legitimacy.
isn't it ironic?.

I am still an elder and I have been posting here for a decade. Holy spirit? lol.... are you fracking kidding. Sure they pretend to base it on the scriptural requirements but if you want to be an elder then really it boils down to:
- Who you know- especially if you have a relative on the body already
- Who's ass you kiss- CO's, CBOE's (yes they are still in charge despite what the letters and literature says) if you charm the COBOE and his core voting group on the body then you are in
- How willing you are to do shit - so many brothers nowdays especially have no interest in being responsible for anyone or anything..lazy
Did I miss anything?

Are The Governing Body Being Set Up To Take A Fall?
by DT inthe governing body's decision to declare themselves the faithful and discreet slave appears pretty arrogant and presumptuous.
since most of us regard the governing body as arrogant and presumptuous, it's easy to conclude that is the reason that they did this.. what if something else is going on?.
remember when steven unthank was able to get the faithful and discreet slave charged in australia for failing to comply with the working with children act?

Interesting idea but the WTBTS is very calculated, I am sure there is a specific reason why this was done. I think the October 1 BOE is also a calculated response to the conti case. More will be revealed with time I am sure. These people do nothing without legal consultation. I tend to agree with Rubadub, it seems that they are moving the doctrinal responsibility back to the GB/FDS to isolate the corporation i.e. $$$$ from the policy makers. I have never heard of anyone suing the College of Cardinals.
