It doesn't really matter who's on the Governing Body, as was mentioned numerous times already on this forum they are just another body of elders thats all. Complete with all the politics, backstabbing, murmuring, complaining, etc. Here's a question: Do you think the members of the GB go on shepherding calls regularly to ones in their assigned congregation?

Governing Body Replacement Question???
by Lady Liberty ini was wondering, why the governing body is being replaced with the other sheep when they die??
why don't they just call in more of the anointed from around the world to fill in their shoes??
has anyone else wondered about this before??

Do you think the real reason why Elders don't make shepherding visits is...
by XJW4EVR inthat they can't count the hours?

Most of them dont have the time to do them. The WT treadmill keeps them busy enough, if I had a choice I would rather spend time with my family than visit people who probably dont care anyway. This only proves this scripture to me:
(Ephesians 4:11) 11
And he gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelizers, some as shepherds and teachers. . .
Not every single elder is qualified to do it all but the WTS tries to force them to do it. Yet another unscriptural arrangement from "gods channel" on earth.

Field Service
by XBEHERE inquestion for those of you still going out: do you actually still pretend to preach to people?
pretend interest in the latest mags so they will take them?
for me its easy since territory is so apathetic anyway i just dont bother overcoming any of their "conversation stoppers" my calls i am slowly, methodically telling them i wont be coming around anymore.

opr83 that is one take on it. I do happen to agree to an extent as right now I still tend to believe in a christian way of living.

That you need 2 witnesses to child molestation.... idiots. What happened in the scriptures when circumstances were so unique that not abiding by a law or rule was allowed? The showbread incident with David and his men comes to mind... The pharisee's denouncing Jesus' apostles for eating wheat on the sabbath... the WT should have obeyed the 2 greatest commandments when it came to pedophiles: Love god and neighbor. Instead they stuck to that stupid 2 witness rule and showed absolutely no love for the poor victims. Sick bastards.

The death of the Watchtower pre-study
by slimboyfat inwho is old enough to remember when witnesses used eagerly to meet on a friday or saturday night to "pre-study" the watchtower in groups: reading paragraphs, underlining, reading scriptures (sometimes)?.
what happened to that, does anyone still do it anywhere?
i think witnesses are just not as enthusiastic about the "truth" as they used to be.

This friction between pioneer™ and Elder™ has always fascinated me. Pioneers are the 'blue eyed boys' of Watchtower land wereas Elders are always a bit sus. District and Circuit Overseers™ are much tougher on Elders™ than Pioneers™.
Unclebruce this is so true... pioneers are put on pedestals by the CO's especially. Our body always gets our a** reamed by CO for not working with the pioneers in service enough. If you are an elder and a pioneer you are all but guaranteed a part on the assembly. One other thing I noticed, its ok to be materialistic if you are a pioneer. At least in my area the pioneers have new, nice cars and dress to impress but nobody ever accuses them of being materialistic. F*cking double standards!!!

Hate CO Visit
by thepackage inour cong.
recently had its co visit, and i realized how fake people can be when the co is around.
elders take time off of work to go out on service during the week, ms's that want to be elders kiss butt to the co. taking the co and his wife out to lunch become a competition.

Much ado about nothing those CO visits... now that I can step back and watch the goings on free from the cloud of lies that WT has taught us I can clearly see the obvious signs of "creature worship" taking place. All of the comments are typical of almost every congregation...the elders going out in mid week service when they aren't there otherwise, arriving early to meetings just when CO is here. etc, etc. So stupid isnt it? At least its a good chance for the CO to get his pole greased by some of the power hungry elders while he is there.

To all Active JW's on the board
by UNCLEAR inas you are all aware i am new to the board, this is my third topic post.
since i have come online and expressed some concerns regarding docturnal issues, i have been pm'd by several active jw's on the board pretending to have concerns also but then sending pm's to "trust in the congregation and jevovah", "talk to the elders about your concerns" and "stick close to the congregation".
i would like to make this known loud and clear -

Unclear welcome to the board. There are many individuals participating here that have gone through similiar things so you have the help and encouragement here. I am still an active JW, at least for appearances sake and I can tell you that what you are experiencing is common. Lack of love, mis treatment, etc. I think being a JW produces an incredible amount of stress for individuals and eventually they will reach a breaking point. Some end up leaving, some stay and develop mental illness, others lash out at people close to them or others in the congregation. I agree with some of the posts here, leave for yours and your son's sake. I know its easier said than done though. Keep your head up and feel confident that leaving this "religion" would not be the end of the world.

Awake! response showing holidays are ok and conscience matter - Inside!!
by WingCommander ini forget where i got this, but this scan is from the july 2004 awake!
magazine, and as you can see it responds to a reader asking about the obviously pagan pinata tradition.
but that isn't the story or the shocker here, it is the society's response to the article.

It will never be ok to celebrate B-days, christmas, or any other holidays in JWland because that would make them more like christendom. This is the main reason that Rutherford ditched all the holidays, it wasnt for scriptural reasons. I mean can you seriously justify not celebrating thanksgiving using the bible?? Seriously...
