How Long Have You Been Viewing Thiis Site? Does It Serve Its Purpose For You?
by minimus ini've been here forever.... this site still gives us some of the most up to date info about jws .
it keeps evolving.
sometimes it is the place to be and i think that's especially true for newbies.

Do you have a favourite scripture?
by Ucantnome ini have two.. luke 4.
16 he went to nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.
he stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet isaiah was handed to him.

i read somewhere that lightning strikes the earth so many times a second. some times this causes forest fires and loss of life. animals die.
i also saw a programme about elephants and how the young miss their mothers when she is killed. so maybe God as a loving creator needs to adjust a few things.
A new heavens and a new earth maybe.

Cofty to make yourself more moral than God would u stop all natural disasters before they happen to save lives and would this include all life or just humans?

What Drew You To The Witnesses?
by minimus ini did believe for the first 30 years of my life that they had been picked by jehovah god to dispense the truth as best as imperfect humans could.
then, everything became questionable.
i had read anti jw books in the past but franz's books really got to me but not immediately.

although i was raised as a witness and always felt i would never have joined if my parents hadn't. ( i felt lucky they had) when i was baptised it was because i wanted too and not because of my parents. i was about 13. i like God
joining the theocratic ministry school was different that was my father.i would have been quite happy to be nothing at the hall no answering no carrying the microphone no demostrations no reading the watchtower no prayers no leading the field service arrangement no opening the service meeting. absolutely nothing. just come in sit there and leave.
i pioneered and some still remember it. lol.

The END did NOT come in their lifetime!!
by DATA-DOG ini don't know about the rest of you, but i have seen my fair share of death.
both sets of grandparents, aunts and uncles, older jws that were pillars in the community.
i even knew the first missionary in missouri, a brother named gerald golf.

i know someone who left the witnesses years ago they are now old and they still believe the end is imminent. we once had a discussion about how important it was to keep on the watch and what it means. i didn't agree with their views.
for me leaving the witnesses was about serving God and not telling people something i wasn't convinced of. i think everyone who has beer a witness had the same spiritual food as i did.
one witness i spoke with a few months back asked me a question regarding if i was concerned about the nearness of the tribulation and when i answered they turned away and wouldn't talk. i've had one who wouldn't read the publication i show them. another one who told me apostates wrote some of it. another one i grew up with had no interest in what has been taught in the past. the list is long of the indifference to what i have said caused me to leave and that is fine.

What does 2014 mean to you
by NewYork44M insometime in the early 1990s i made a commitment to myself that if the end did not come in 2014 i was going to walk away.
then i started thinking - if i waited until 2014 i would be 57 years old with very few options.
that is when i realized that i needed to make changes to get my life back.
