When i was init i had little interest in the deeper things. I didn't feel i understood it i was probably right. I was happy to accept the slave knew and go along with them as they had been appointed. So why worry what they said as long as i could reasonably go along with it. If it was wrong Jehovah would sort it out. The bible was, especially the nt, written for them. Maybe others felt similar. I even felt we were sort of post bible since 1914 and more watchtower.

Jw's dont really care about doctrine do they?
by marriedtoajw init seems to me that jw's really don't care about doctrine.
ephesians chapter 4 verse 11 "and he gave some as apostles others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry for the building up of the body of christ until we attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the son of god to mature manhood to the extent of the full stature of christ so that we may no longer be in infants tost by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery from their cunning in the interest of deceitful scheming".
is it just me or does this verse totally annihilate the doctrine or belief in new light.

Thoughts of summer and ummmmm
by new hope and happiness inmaybe i still have the j.w mentality, but i am seriouse....why on hot summer days do the youngsters wear such gloomy colors?
it makes little sence,.. o.k maybe they are rebelling, and there hearts are in the right place, but why can't they rebel in cheerful bright orage tea-shirts, especially during the summer months.
but there you go ugggg beautiful girls in such dark and gloomy colors ...its summer girls make an old man feel glad.. .

How We Come Across On The Board
by minimus inmost people here have never met you.
we converse, discuss, argue, laugh, agree, question, share our lives..... quite often, you kind of get to know what a person is like.
some people, we tend to gravitate to and others, we shy away from.. how do you think you come across to other people?

How do you think you come across to other people? Are you, in "real life" just like you are here?
I don't know. I'm close with my kids. I have more in the way of friendship with women than men. I think it's probably like listening to yourself on a tape you sound different from what you thinkyou sound like.
Are you easy to get along with?
Well I think so but I've never had a lot of dinner invitations.

What is the JW Mindset?
by losingit inis it based on gullibility, naivete, the ability to suspend all logic and reason in order to hold onto fantasized "realities" of a paradise earth where all humanity will be perfect, where all wars and violence will cease?
is it a personal preponderance to the extreme-- whether it be in judgmentalism, cruelty, rigidity, negativity, and/ or righteousness that lends itself to extreme closemindedness and shortsightedness?.
how do you define it for yourself?

How do you define it for yourself?
I don't.
I'm not sure that there is one specific to being a JW. However I do think that I have found being honest was difficult. To honestly say how I felt about the assembly or the talk or the publication or how I felt about christmas or sex.
What characteristics are you working hard to let go of in order to overcome your JW past?
I'm not.
When i was a witness I was pretty relaxed about things and after I left home I was much more me. I felt at times there was hypocrisy and this would bother me especially if I felt it was on the part of the elder body.
