I think on one of the threads that focus started there was a swear word used ( i could be wrong as i can't find the thread to check) by someone, which i think goes against the posting guidelines. I think swearing should be avoided.

The Ravings of Trolls Distracts FOCUS From Real Watchtower Scandals
by cofty inmy thread was inspired by gentledawn's insightful comment about the effect the events in wales had on her jw husband.... hope any lurkers out there can filter out the signal (storys and experiences like this) to noise (the current trolls running amok on the forums) ratios.
this the problem with those who focus on outrageous fantasies about the watchtower.
it distracts from the real issues that need to be highlighted.. what happened in wales was for real.

When lurkers read threads comparing all elders to rapists or suggesting that Jesus was a child molestor it does nothing for anybody's credibility
When i was leaving the Watchtower if I'd come here and seen how the name Jehovah or Jesus is misused or how they are referred to i wouldn't have trusted this site especially if the comments were from former elders.

What was your out of control, sobbing moment with this stupid religion?
by ctrwtf ini have often laughed at public outpourings of emotion.
just google mike schmidt"s retirement speech in which he loses it and blithers on about his career.
completely douche chilling.. but to be honest, i had a moment recently when i literally balled my eyes out.

"Responsible child rearing in the time of the end" was the title of a talk at the 1986 District Convention.
I remember the talk. One of the few assemblies I attended. Fortunately we had kids after this. Maybe it was due to living through 1975 and knowing how that turned out.

Jw's dont really care about doctrine do they?
by marriedtoajw init seems to me that jw's really don't care about doctrine.
ephesians chapter 4 verse 11 "and he gave some as apostles others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry for the building up of the body of christ until we attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the son of god to mature manhood to the extent of the full stature of christ so that we may no longer be in infants tost by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery from their cunning in the interest of deceitful scheming".
is it just me or does this verse totally annihilate the doctrine or belief in new light.

When i was init i had little interest in the deeper things. I didn't feel i understood it i was probably right. I was happy to accept the slave knew and go along with them as they had been appointed. So why worry what they said as long as i could reasonably go along with it. If it was wrong Jehovah would sort it out. The bible was, especially the nt, written for them. Maybe others felt similar. I even felt we were sort of post bible since 1914 and more watchtower.

Thoughts of summer and ummmmm
by new hope and happiness inmaybe i still have the j.w mentality, but i am seriouse....why on hot summer days do the youngsters wear such gloomy colors?
it makes little sence,.. o.k maybe they are rebelling, and there hearts are in the right place, but why can't they rebel in cheerful bright orage tea-shirts, especially during the summer months.
but there you go ugggg beautiful girls in such dark and gloomy colors ...its summer girls make an old man feel glad.. .
