shunning and jw funerals

when a jw from your area dies, do you attend the visitation or funeral ?.

since i have da'ed myself, several people that i have known for years have died, and i have attended both the visitation, and or funeral.. but everytime, i have been treated like i don't even exist.

just trying to follow normal human emotions, by attending and showing my feelings to the surviving family has been alot like running into a brick wall.

I was born-in to a hardcore JW family, but never bought into it, and never considered baptism. I hated every minute of my time there. Yet, I have gone to several JW funerals for family friends, and I have never been shunned or mistreated in any way.

The funerals, if you can call them that, really suck. They spend so little time talking about the life of the deceased, and so much time on pushing their beliefs on those in attendance. I think it's horrible that they shun at funerals. Although it hasn't happened to me, I've seen it happen at JW funerals, to others, including one family that shunned their son, on the occasion of his father's funeral, because he is gay. He was shunned by all in attendance, except me. I felt their disapproval as I spoke to their son and tried to comfort him, and they didn't have the courage to look me in the eye when I glared at them in disgust.

when i was a dub i was petrified of displeasing the trademark imaginary god that the wbt$ had invented.

i feared that kind of death.. the thought of being unconscious totally forevermore seems so weird.. now that i know the wbt$ was lying (as usual), and i realise there can't possibly be a god as described in religion i am now faced with the reality that i'll be dead and gone with nothing to carry me on after in a conscious way.

just because i don't want this to happen doesn't mean it won't.. oh, darn!

years ago, i didn't care for roger ebert.

i thought he was kind of a snooty film critic.. after watching films as sort of a hobby, i came to really appreciate his opinions on film.

mainly, what was the film trying to do.

Based on your posts, it appears that you either have legal background or legal knowledge, so I'm surprised that you made the comment above. It's important to remember that the interview wasn't a deposition. Candace answered the questions in accordance with her lawyer's advice, and such advice was given with the understanding that if the WT is successful on its appeal, the case may have to be retried. I see nothing suspicious about her response and nothing about it that supports in any way the WTBTS' position in this case.

others will walk on their knees bleeding, holding candles, saying prayers.

in thousands of churches around the world the mel gibsonish scene of a pulverized jesus will pull at the emotions of christians.. as jws we always saw this rather bloodless sanitary nordic looking jesus to deal with but within the catholic and protestant churches this is their week to go full on corporal.. what do you suppose the fascination is with the crucifixion..

Your post above is clearly insulting and intended to provoke hostilities with Designs. Guideline 10 asks users to please avoid "posting an off-topic comment." Your post above is not on topic; rather it is an ugly personal attack that has no relation to the topic.

In addition to violating the posting guidelines, your post above is mean-spirited and unwarranted. Nothing Designs posted warranted your ugly response.

I think you owe Designs an apology.

It's hard to estimate without seeing the brief. My guess is that it's at least $50,000.

Without seeing the brief, your question cannot be answered. However, it is common for joint defendants to submit a joint brief, which is probably what has occurred in this case. That brief cost the WTBTS a lot of $$$$$

The speaker at the memorial I attended claimed that 12,000 partook of the emblems at last year's memorial. I'm wondering if that number is dependent on which congregation is making the claim? Did anyone else hear at their memorial a statement of how many partakers there were last year? If so, how many did they claim?

Mindlblown: The designation of Rule 8.25(b)(3) means that the brief was filed on time, although not received by the court by the due date. The rule provides that the date of mailing or depositing with FedEX, UPS, etc. is the date the brief is deemed by the court to have been filed. Since the actual filing date is 3/27, the court had to note the reason why it is being accepted.
