Even at the height of my indoctrination with the watchtower, the example of Lot disgusted me. If he was an example of a faithful servant, jehovah was scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The society purposely takes away the childhood of the young ones growing up in the cult. They fill young ones with guilt and other negative emotions and takes away the normal childhood experiences.
I can remember feeling so guilty in Kindergarten because I knew I had to warn my friends of their pending doom at Armageddon, but I was so shy that I could not start the discussion. I knew they were going to die - but I also knew I was going to die because i did not have the courage to warn them.
That is a hell of a lot of guilt placed on a barely-6-year-old. What a fuc*&ng way to live your childhood!
Is it any wonder they lose young ones?

by Pistoff inthis was the theme of a talk at this week's 2nd weekly meeting with the co.. .
if you are a progressive thinker, so went the reasoning, you will accept all of the adjustments coming from the 'faithful and discreet slave'.. .

No, I disagree. I don't want to argue, but this is so disagreeable that I think I will go vomit.

Female Attendants
by Quarterback inthe best thing to come from the regenal convention this summer, is to see women used as attendants at the end of the program.
they were used in distributing the new publications to convention delegates..

My general question is "what it is about this job that requires a penis?" If no penis is required there is no reason for a female to be excluded. Just my opinion. Using this general question it is surprising how little value the penis is.

What was the quote from the Awake?
Also, didn't the Watchtower used to say the snakes had legs? Am I crazy for thinking that?

Most absurd thing I heard at the convention yesterday!
by Batman89 inbrother lett was giving the last talk of the day about what they supposedly accomplished in 100 years.
i was just waking up so im paraphrasing alittle(i was dosing off all day) anyways in his introduction he said.
"there is more evidence to prove gods kingdom on the earth is a reality than wind, electricity and gravity is a reality on the earth".

Just because he says something, does not mean it is true. The problem with a statement like that is it is difficult to prove otherwise to a "true believer." Which is why I don't try.

Assembly Invitations: A Sad, Pathetic Anachronism
by metatron inso, witlesses are handing out assembly invitations locally for their gatherings to invite the public to attend...... .
a meeting that's 50, 100, 150 miles away?
there was an era when placards were put in storefront windows and bombastic sermons were delivered by radio.

It is "busy work" and everyone knows it is "busy work," - but then again it beats knocking on doors.

If you had the audience of the GB, what is your #1 question you would ask them?
by Darth Fader The Sequel inthere are a million of them and mine is by no means the most important question to ask them if i only had one shot at it.
but, i have always wondered what kind of bs excuse they would give as an answer to this question: "brother goober bum, given that there are both male and female partakers here on earth who claim to be of the 'anointed' and plan on being of the 144,000 ruling with christ in heaven for eternity........ why are the female 'anointed' treated as submissive, second class citizens and why is their opinion on doctrinal matters, matters of teaching and reproving, anything at all.... why are they not recognized while here on earth even though you claim that jesus has selected them to become angels to rule with him?
".

I cannot think of anything to ask. These are old men who have no knowledge that I am interested in. I guess I might ask if they thought there were creating a legacy that improves the lot of future generations. But then again, I already know the answer.

Keeping it simple.
by gingerbread inas the convention season is upon many of us, i recall my first assembly that we attended during the very beginning of our questioning if this religion that we were raised in was 'right'.
by really listening to the talks and observing the behavior of the other attendees, we came away that weekend with real focus on uncovering the realities of being one of jehovah's witnesses.. i had, for many years, issues with some basic organizational practices and customs : turning in a time slip, counting hours, re-hashing material over and over, dress and grooming rules, congregational politics/favoritism/discrimination, the 'judicial committee', etc.. at the same time we were researching the history of the watchtower and it's core beliefs : what were the origins of the belief in a paradise earth, the faithful and discreet slave, and (most importantly) the watchtower's chronology/dating that leads to the 1914 conclusion.. to all who are in the beginning of this process, i recommend you keep it simple.
take one topic or issue at a time and prove to yourself that the watchtower's stance is biblical.

What you describe is kind of like how to enter a cold swimming pool. Some take their time, starting with dipping their toe into the water. Others, do one big bellyflop.
It took me 10 years, and I left the borg screaming and kicking. I know others who had an almost overnight transition.
