i don't know if anyone here listens to dr. joy but i love her show and most of the time agree with her advice.
well, today i grew some balls and decided to call in and ask her what she thought i should do in my current situation (which is probably the closest i will come to seeking professional advice).
i never mentioned the name of the "religious group" in which my husband was involved, but i informed her about some of the things that they believe and how it was affecting my marriage and family.
Of all the radio psychologists, Dr Joy is my favorite. She is professional that has a grasp of issues that the others (especially Dr. Laura) do not. I have listened to Dr Joy on and off for may years and have actually benefited from listening. I am sure that those in the audience in a similar position understood exactly where you were coming from.

and to top it all, almost all of these people ( like me ) have been affected by the wbts in some way!.
Although I do not contribute much, I visit several times a day. I agree that this is a great site and would like to thank everyone for their contributions.

One time when I was an elder, and barely holding on to my sanity, I made a comment at the meeting and used the phrase "when Eve ate the apple." The next meeting a fellow elder did his duty and explained that it was not an apple but some other fruit. He said that several in the congregation came up to him and was concerned that I thought that Eve ate an apple.
My response was that I just had a lot on my mind and was a slip of the tongue. To this day I don't remember making the comment. I was just on "autopoilot" and must have had a near miss.

Yes I am a big fan of Ayn Rand. I have been meaning to start an Ayn Rand post on this board. Of all the books that helped me "disengage" from the borg, the Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged are on the top of the list. Any comments?

I had arrived at work in midtown NYC. It was a beautiful day, I was looking forward to starting a new project and someone asked why I was smiling. She said that the WTC had been hit by a plane and wondered why I did not hear any about it yet. I tried to get some news from the internet but that was down. Someone turned on a radio and we heard what was going on. Later that morning I walked out and could see the large black cloud and decided to try to get home.
Since the subways were shut down I walked with my wife, who also worked in midtown. It was eirie to see masses of people all walking the same direction, with no traffic going towards lower manhattan.

a friend of mine told me she saw on "law and order" (television program) that a jehovah witness refused a dna test.he was accused of rape.the court said that since it was against his religion that they could not test him.have any of you ever heard of this?

I am a big L&O fan and have seen that episode twice. The context of the dialog was not that he was a jw, only that he did not want a dna test. The officer then said that when an individual claims a religious objection they must discontinue the exam.
last night, i returned from the chess club with my son to find my wife on the phone.
apparently the congregation secretary had phoned to get our time.
not wanting to disappoint him, she put us both down for two hours.. now, none of us have stepped foot in a kingdom hall since april 10, and we haven't been out in service since march/01.
Running, I hope that when you report your time you are counting the time you spend on this board....This is reportable fieldservice time.....isn't it?
