I love to cook. I like the creativity and the end results. I like chopping and I love the smell of garlic and onions cooking in olive oil. I love the sizzle of a steak on the grill and the thrill of doing a meal well.

Why do you HATE to cook?
by GentlyFeral inme, i love cooking.
hearing someone say "i hate to cook" is like hearing "i hate being literate," or "i hate being able to walk.
" i just don't get it.. but there must be reasons - enlighten me, ok?.

Field Service Antics ...
by writetoknow indo you remember all the munipulation and antics witnesses use to get out of actually going to the door and talking to people about the bible?.
i only bring this up because in another thread i posted someone made the assertion that if witnesses voted as a group they would change the election.
it like saying the witnesses go to every door in the world with the good news and their the only group doing the work!.

I remember as a kid going out in service with my father who was an elder. After we met for service our family would do a short magazine route and then go grocery shopping.

Remember when assemblies were fun?
by Aphrodite ini just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.

Taking the food away changed the dynamics of the assembly. Food service was where brothers and sisters could socialize. The ability to socialize was especially important to young people.

Service is all about counting time.
Service requires a whole new language related to time
"Starting your time" and "keeping your time going" only means anything to a group that is measured by how many hours they write on a month end report.

Things You HATED About Being a JW
by minimus inthere were a few things that i hated about being a witness.. i love music and live concerts.
quite often i'd have to play my music privately or hide an album cover for fear it might "stumble" someone.
i hated worrying whether someone was going to somehow get "stumbled.. regarding going to concerts, it seemed that certain artists only came to town on a meeting night and i'd miss the shows.. what did you hate about being a jehovah's witness?.

Everything. I hated being a jw.
I hated having to explain why I couldn't celibrate birthdays, christmas, Halloween, and so on. I hated having to explain why I could not contribute to the United Way. I hated explaining why I could not sign the boss' birthday card. I hated the fear I had about meeting someone I knew in service. I hated the guilt I had for having all this hate.

It has been a while since I experienced a blush.
But, I am willing to try. FlyinghighNow, can you do something outrageous that will make me blush? We will see what happens.

Since you asked what I did on Sat I will tell you that as well as what is on the agenda today:
I taught an accounting class in the morning, came home and took a nap. I watched three Law & Order episodes and cooked dinner.
Today I will exercise, go to a few open houses and otherwise relax. I will not go to the meeting, pray, do anything religious. Other than post on JWD. But I don't consider posting on JWD a religious experience.

NEW SCROLLS ANNOUNCED
by tula inso that this will be no surprise to you, and so you will not be swayed in your firm stand of holy spirit truth, i give you this.. .
in the coming months expect to hear this in the kh and the mags..... "for those of you who have heard of the association of the wts and the un and have patiently and faithfully waited on jehovah, we can now tell you our reasons for doing this.
it has all been under the direction of the fds.. this library card was necessary because..... there are very old manuscripts that have never been deciphered and they have been housed within that library.. through much prayer and careful consideration, jah directed for our team of translators, which are the best and most accurate in the world, to be a part of this great uncovering of the new scrolls.".

I live within a block of the UN. I can see the UN from my window.
If you want me to walk over and pick up these scrolls, I would be more than happy to do that. But first I need a library card. Ho do I do that?

Do you still pray?
by Layla33 ini was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.

I don't talk to god and he doesn't talk to me. We both seem to be doing just fine. Thank you very much.
Next time you talk to him tell him I said what's up?

Have you found Jesus?
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land ina man is stumbling through the woods, totally drunk, when he comes upon a preacher baptizing people in the river.
he proceeds to walk into the water and subsequently bumps into the preacher.
the preacher turns around and is almost overcome by the smell of alcohol, whereupon he asks the drunk, "are you ready to find jesus?

When I read the topic heading I was really offended. Then I realized it was a joke.
No I have not found Jesus. I did not realized I should be looking for him. When did he become lost?
