i dont know how blondie is going to react to this weeks study, but i was really frustrated, like i was being dragged in a direction i do not want to go.

I agree with this.

Every person that was used by God in the scriptures HAD PROOF to back up thier claim.
Why is it so dificult for JWs to demand proof from the WTS that it too is being used by God?

Every time the WTS talks about being loyal and obedient to God they also state that the JW must be loyal to the orginization as that equals being loyal to God.

Nowhere in the scriptures does God state a person must belong to an orginization that constantly gets thier teachings wrong, and has put themselves in place of Jesus in order to be protected in the great trib.

The WTS has taken it upon themselves to be in that spot.
Just like many other religions.
Do they really think because they say it is so, that God will say: ok if you guys want it to be so,then I'll make it that way?

No. I don't believe the scriptures say this.

The Watchtower Plot Against Us

the watchtower organisation has been guilty of major coverups and blatant lies.. it does not want ex jws telling others what they know.. does it ever occur to you that the watchtower have people who post on this board, gathering information about us?

they could use it against us at any time....they could keep a record of what we say on our posts and establish who we really are.. e.g.

people who i hardly ever speak to on this board suddenly seem to know details about me.

do not give out any information about yourself.

He is right.

They are ONLY a small cult.
They say 6 million members?!?

I don't really believe that number.
I think the WTS wanted to come up with a large number of publishers to show that they were growing.
To give a boost to the r&f to make them think that they really are reaching people with thier version of 'good news'.

But that's just my thought on the matter.
I don't want to hijack your post by going in a diferent direction with this.

Going back to your concern about info being found out by the WTS.
Your concern does have merit.
I'm sure there are many people that are still attending meetings and posting on this board.
So just don't release any personal info. that you feel could lead someone to find out your identity.

What are You all Doing Here?

a friend of mine recommended i peruse this forum because he is of the impression i would find it rewarding.

the basis of his recommendation was due to a very long friendship and not due to any association (that i do not have) with jehovahs witnesses.

he considers me his superior in intellect and wants an appraisal of this sight but to be honest i have neither the incliniation nor the time to get in deep enough to comment.

I'll refrain fron throwing any insults around seeing as I don't know you or the reason you're really here.

But just like what everyone has said, there is not one person here that could be considered a cornerstone to this site accept for the sites owner and his lovely wife. Mrs co-owner.

So I'll just take a gander at your question to us.

Well I can't speak for anyone else but for me, this site serves as a place to discuss something that has had a major efect on my life with people that have also been afected by the same thing.

And it doesn't always have to be about serious matters.

There is also joking, story telling, laughter,ect...

Kind of like a neiborhood pub.

Accept we've got a large neiborhood here.

Including many people from diferent countries thruout this little old world of ours.

So that's my answer.
I know. It's not too exciting but what the heck.
It's all I got.

i've just joined up to silentlambs.

basically i still consider myself a jw, although i'm no longer active.

i do frequent the odd sunday meeting tho, as i still consider 95% of it to be the truth.

I apreciate you thinking enough of my post to take it apart.

But I think you are mistaken about something I said.

I didn't say they weren't Gods org. because they were not performing miracles.

I said that those in the scriptures that God used had proof to back up thier claims.
ie: miracles, prophecies that came true.

I stand by what I said.
The WTS has NO proof to back up thier claim.
There is plenty of proof showing the WTS is NOT being used by God.

You said the extent of the preaching work proves that the HOLY Spirit is with the WTS.
There is still a very large part of the earth that has never heard of Jehovahs-Witnesses.
And the parts of the earth JWs are in now, are also filled with worshippers of other Christian denominations.
Shall we say that the Holy Spirt must be with these other groups too?

And what about the 'good news' being preached by the WTS?
Jesus came invisibly in 1914.
Jesus chose a group of Bible students back then to be His orginization.
(You do realize that most things being taught then have been abandoned right?)
That God is going to destroy the worlds inhabitants, except JWs.
And that's not even a definate thing because you MUST be at ALL 5 meetings per week and you MUST be out in field service distributing magazines.
Or you WILL be destroyed at Armageddon.

Do you really think Gods Holy Spirit is behind this 'good news'?

And IF the Holy Spirt was behind the WTS, why do they have to keep changing thier teachings over and over again?
Don't you think God would know how to have the WTS teach the REAL truth in the first place?

And what about thier unChristian behaviour?

Thier being at ALL the meetings and getting out in field service placing mags. IS the extent of thier Christian works.
What about feeding the poor, helping the hopeless, taking care of the elderly, ect...?

The WTS does not view these things as important.

In the parable that Jesus gave about the good Samaritan, Which did Jesus condemn?
Was it the good Samaritan who stopped to help his fellow man or was it the pharicies?
Which one is the WTS like?

And as far as the control aspect, the WTS when they are first trying to get converts tells the potential candidates to check up on the teachings and the history of thier current religion.
But once a person becomes a JW they are comanded NOT to check up on the teachings and history of the WTS.

My statement stands.
The WTS has NO proof that they are being used by God.
Only proof that they are NOT being used by Him.

The same argument can be used discussing other religions.
Could it not?

There are other religions that really do try to live up to Christs' teachings.
ie: fruits of the spirit, being good samaritans, caring for thier fellow man,
having genuin love for each other, ect....

Now if you feel that God is using the WTS, shouldn't there be some proof?

Looking back in the Bible, the ones that God was using had proof to back up thier claims.
Miracles were performed, prophecies came true.

With the WTS what do we see?

False prophecies, no miracles, unChristian behavior, false teachings, teachings that are changed over and over again.
Stating thier teachings come from God when they have to constantly be changed
is something that made my eyes open to what the WTS is all about.

Let's not forget what they instill in thier followers.
A person MUST be part of the WTS....A person MUST be at the meetings and be out distributing thier litterature or face eternal destruction at Armagedon.

That is not a teaching that was taught in the Bible.

You state the WTS has some things right but you know what?
So do other religions.

I have a question for you.
What is the 'good news' the WTS teaches?

What is the 'good news' that is found in the scriptures?

BTW. Welcome to the board.
Even tho you may not find that everyone agrees with your thoughts on matters, at least you can discuss them.
That is definately not something that is ALLOWED by the WTS.
