i know this sounds like a ridiculous question but i was talking with my mom in the car today and of course we got on the topic of getting babtized again.

she told me that jehovah holds me accountable for my sins regardless of wether i am babtized or not so i have no reason to be holding back because it won't change anything.

my parents are the type of super strict jw who will shun you just for not being a witness.

while i'm politely sitting during the meeting today, restraining myself from rolling my eyes as the brother drones on about how "having an independent spirit is devilish in nature" and "independence from gods organization only results in pain and strife", i only have one thought going through my mind over and over.

"what would happen if i pulled out a gun and blew my brains out in this kingdom hall?".

would anyone notice or care?

MarkofCane You said it! I do think that the meetings and the information in them has really gone downhill in the last 5 years or so.

As an elder for a long time I tried to give parts that were practical, and realistic. Love and mercy were always the points I wanted to talk about, not the crap we are so used to hearing now.

i stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.

my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.

from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

SORRY! No one can!!!! When someone dies - the can't be revived! The fact that they did NOT die - means the did NOT die! Because your heart stops, or your vitals drop to 0 is NOT death. Death is more complex than just that. Those are not the FINAL signs of death. When an organism is dead, nothing can change that, not even the great dog Jeehooberr.

And by the way, the aspects of these Not Dead Experiences can all be explained!

Midweek meeting

almost two months into the change in format of the mid week meeting from the school and service meeting format to the christian life and ministry (clam) format.

in my congregation, seems attendance is down 10-15% over the normally low attendance for the mid week meeting before the change.

some indicate that the meeting under the clam format is very "intense"...you really need to study and research to be able to participate or get anything out of the meetings.

People graduate from Astrophysics, and Quantum Mechanics, and Neurosurgery!

But us poor JW saps can not be taught well enough after years to find an interesting article in a 3rd grade reading level magazine and introduce it to someone at the door?

Nor did the school help anyone enough to graduate to the level where they could take one of the JW basic books, and just go over paragraphs and ask the questions with a "Bible Study".

And we as you say - proudly say its a school you never graduate from. WTF!
