Is Watchtower now loosening the bedroom rules?

i was at my assembly when this was discussed last week.

of course i hadn't prepared and i heard "no rules about limits", or at least i thought i did.. here's the direct quote from the watchtower study article.. "although the bible does not provide specific rules about the kinds and limits of love play that might be associated with natural sexual intimacy, it mentions displays of affection.

the watchtower (study edition) august 2016 : making christian marriage a success, paragraph 8.. what say you?.

YUP!!! Not just for this - how may other things were BAD until they were ok - and as you said no undisfellowshiping

Didn't they use to counsel.......to pray before sex?

In that - you should pray as a couple when going to bed.

Extreme rules on Dating – is this for all congregations?

just found out that in the congregation we used to attend there are two young brothers, both are sons of elders and recently engaged to girls in neighboring congregations.

instructions are that they may not sit together at assemblies or meetings.

but get this….they can’t even ride in the same car even if their parents are also in the car.

There was a congregation near me (elders were like nazis) who from the platform an elder told a dating ADULT couple that one of them should move their seat.

No not at all a cult.

Are Jehovah`s Witnesses of today, aware, or even care about their early history of the 1800`s ?

in the 1960`s when i was a new convert , a 20 year old , i devoured the book "jehovahs witnesses in the divine purpose" outlining the early history of the restoration of true christianity in the world.it helped to convince me then that this was indeed the true religion......not that i remember much of the details it contained nowadays .. i understand there was a poor attempt to mimic it with the " proclaimers " book a much sanitized version of the early history of the jw religion.

what reputable organization in the world ,secular ,religious or otherwise ,doctors their own early history/ beginnings unless they have something to hide or are ashamed of.. how many jw`s today would know that they were formed as the " international bible students association" in the late 1800`s , or that their first president of that association was none other than w.h.conley ,and not c.t.russell.. does it even matter ?

does anybody really care ?.

Appealing a DF decision

i always found it interesting that one could appeal a disfellowshipping....if jehovah doesn't make mistakes, then there wouldnt be a need to "appeal" anything to begin with right?.

Something that most JWs dont know is that if you Appeal your DFing and they uphold it - you can then Appeal to the Branch.

Its so sad, what kind of jerk is that guy?

Imagine what kind of a GUY would want to catch an important sport event?
Really after washing the dishes he should devote himself to prayer.

And it is hard to imagine what was going through that dear sisters mind.

Sure she lives in a mansion - sure she seems to have lived her live wanting for nothing - sure her parents probably have multiple cars that match the type of lifestyle their home depicts (Mercedes), but let's get real - what kind of young man is interested in cars and soccer and basketball? I have never met one, have you?

Surely Jesus didnt watch soccer nor look online for a cool BMW.

She was right to dump him and wait for someone who is only going to be devoted to an imaginary god.

Life will be so great for her now!

It was SOOOO BALANCED for the brother to let us know that we should not expect PERFECTION in a marriage mate. So True!

Elder asking for help

this is my first time posting on here so i’m not sure where to start.

i’m trying to keep it as short as possible since i could expand much more.

i’ve been in the process of waking up in the last year and a half.

One thing to do is to openly talk about all the BS and what must be the case in all Elder Bodies - horrible dumb decisions - disagreements - and stupidity.

Also talk about the things the really bother you as an elder - the lack of love - the opposite of what jesus would do with helping people - how you feel like a cop and not a shepherd - how really the is NO training on how to really help people - just to strong arm them.

Talk about the policies that now shift the Legal Burden on elders and shield the GB - talk about how the Sex Abuse rules are stupid - and the 2 witness rule is crap.

Talk about how you are frustrated as an elder - and how it should not be this way - and how its TOP DOWN that creates this.

If nothing else happens - she will understand why you want to "Resign" as an elder in time.

So seeds of doubt at this level is a better first step than just hitting doctrine.
