Since leaving the JW Organization, who is believing?

i left the jw organization last year during summer.

maybe some of you can relate.

who of you are agnostic or an atheist?

I don't believe in any god.
Would I be happy if there was something, and there was some type of afterlife.. SURE!

But there is no indication in any way there is anything out there.

Just because we tiny microbes in a vast universe cant explain where life came from, where the universe came from, does in no way give evidence that there is a god.

Sadly, after almost 5 decades of being sure there was a loving god, that ship sailed and sank.

As a JW you were well taught how to find inconsistencies and holes in other religion (while not looking at your own), so I think its hard for an XJW to move to another false religion.

Will the Watchtower Corporation continue to lie and deceive just to sustain itself into the future ?

the wts has been selling and promoting christ's return and the end times since the late 1800's, right through all of the 20th century and still continues today on the same core doctrinal premise.. 1914 was set as a year of christ taking position upon his heavenly throne followed by choosing the wts as his earthly guided organization in 1919 according to the wts.

leaders at that time.. the actual truth is that the wts is a publishing house and it was inherently pressed to make up doctrines which would gravitate attention to its published goods, accurate and honest bible interpretation was a second lesser concern.. the original heads of this religious publishing house (c t russell) first proclaimed that christ had returned in 1874 and 1914 was going to be the year jesus was going to cleanse the earth of all wickedness etc.

this was obviously a false doctrine tainted with ignorance and a bit of commercialization in reality.. so the question remains what will the wts do in the future, what will the wts do as far as doctrines to allure the general public at large ?

Apparently, there are still people (on this site even - which makes me very sad) that believe the earth is flat.

There 7 billion people on the very spherical earth, and that means there will be a % of people who will believe anything.

The WT has found its share of that pie, and it will continue to get its slice.

Now it probably will dwindle as time goes on, but as mentioned, there are still people who believe the earth is flat :(

1972 : we started studying with the jehovah's witnesses when my uncle became an elder and put fear into our family that armageddon was close.

1974 : my mom, my brother and i were all baptized after all the convention talks and watchtower magazine articles that 1975 would likely end this system of things.

1999 : being told that the year 2000 was going to mark the 6 thousand years of mans existence and that the 1000 year kingdom in the new paradisewould come in the year 2000.

Fred Franztone - well I was one of those.

I was REALLY good and I was really ALL IN.
Special Talks, Memorials, District Talks, Talks at Elders School.
I got parts no other elders would get.

And looking back, all I was doing was being great at making people believe lies.
I knew "sincerely" how to hook people emotionally, and how to tell stories not read an outline.

I regret being good at that so much:(

I guess it could have been a lot shorter.

so as i'm still pimo and living under my parent's roof, how can i get out of service?

cause i really don't want to go and i feel dirty just knowing i could be influencing someone into this garbage..

Do things like Early Morning Witnessing, or at odd hrs where you can just head to the mall or something and no one will know.

under roman rule, which covered a large part of the civilized world around the mediterranean, to be a trouble maker or a magician or an insurrectionist was a capital offence.. to live back then in a civilised society was a boon.

naturally for the sake of law and order certain compliances had to be met to as part of the social bargain to be a roman citizen.

among them were included the requirement to respect the “genius” or spirit of the emperor, not to be an atheist and to respect the roman gods.

But its all about people feeling they are part of something bigger than them, and that they are sacrificing for the greater good.

Also, there is always a "great reward" your gonna get, (heaven, everlasting life, 40 virgins..)

Did You Go To Meetings in Very Inclement Weather?

living in new england means having lots of snow and cold.

elders were very reluctant to cancel or reschedule a meeting due to the weather.

i lived 3 towns away from the kingdom hall and if it was icy and treacherous my vote would always be to cancel the meeting....and forget about rescheduling!.

As an Elder, I did my best to get meetings canceled when it was bad out.

For a long time, it was because of safety issues, and just the hardship on older ones and ones with kids.

Near the end (when I was PIMPO), it was because I could not STAND being in a KH.

Repeal of Internet Neutrality. How will it affect surfers?

today the fcc voted against internet neutrality..

Having been in the industry for more than 20 years - Yes this is very bad for the average person and for small to midsized companies, and to any new innovation.

Also if you think the effects happen overnight, you are not understanding the situation at all.

And to be clear, the FCC didn't rule against it - the Trump Appointed FCC chair who was put in place to specifically do this pushed it over the falls.
