  we all have known it's true, but now you have the wt, who put it in everyone's head that you can be anointed.

  FYI - there are only 35,000 publishers in ALL banned countries.

  That is NOT a lot, especially if you add their population together.

  It makes the 1 in 7000 ratio in Uganda look stellar!

  Is this a site controlled by atheists?

  under the exterior of being an ex- witness site, is this site simply converting atheism?.

  i pose the question, because many come here in distress and insecurity with the realization that the w.t is wrong but still retain a belief in god.

  my personal opinion is the threads on god are not challenged by an atheists personal animosity to believers, they are challenged and become confrontational because the atheist wants an elaboration and factual proof to a believers faith.. is this unreasonable?

  I just think that a lot of JWs who have had their eyes opened have opened them fully.

  I think JWs who spent their lives scrutinizing the most innocuous passages of the bible and coming up with deep meaning, and also getting explanations for the most blatant contradictions.

  As JWs, we have spent our lives studying the bible.

  Each book and verse were examined for deep meaning, and prophetic significance.

  Year after year we were given "explanations" of who the most idiotic stuff fit into scientific truth.

  Year after year, the most blatant contradictions were either causally explained away, or some over arching future structure was added to it so it would make sense when god explained the details.

  We had it pounded in that we are the ONLY true religion, and many people would "ironically" express "if this isn't the truth then there isn't one"

  After all that and more, its hard to come to the conclusion, "oh we got the trinity wrong, but all the other stuff is still ok", if you know what I am saying.

  I am into precision of speech:) Lots when you are an organization of 8 million is tens of thousands. If you don't put your statements into context like "I knew 10 who went in the last 4 years" then "lots" can mean something different to different people.

  I have been around forever in a very populated area and I don't know anyone who went to china to preach.

  No lots are not. Maybe a few here and there may be. There are so many reasons that make any kind of campaign there not viable it's not worth mentioning.

  
  

  You have 1.35 billion people there, and a handful of nuts going there to preach?

  Preach to a society that is completely conditioned to distrust outsiders, who often have to report on each other for any unusual behavior, and are not interested in christianity at all?
  

  
  

  Any who try have have to deal with being watched, bugged, followed, or deported for preaching, as this is a constant threat.

  
  

  By the way the have 200 dialects, making communication from outsiders not very easy.

  
  Anyone who tells you of the great work going on in china is delusional.

  I don't believe any of that for a moment. Why would wealthy Chinese be more interested than poor ones? And how is the money being collected and what's happening with it. There are no Donation boxes, and no easy way to hide it nor move it out of the country.

  Ex COs and Ex DOs - hogwash - just like all the hogwash you hear every few years about the work opening up in China. Never ever ever gonna happen.

  I know someone who went to South Korea, and they talked about China, the few that are there are ULTRA careful. Nothing is happening in China.

  in my old congregation, everyone seems clean.

  mostly chaste courtship, kingdom hall wedding, blah blah.. well there are lots of cases of fondling but they were soon forgotton.

  when my husband and i confessed to sex before marriage, the elders were disgusted.

  Well I thought it was very rare. I knew so many "spiritual couples" who didn't have an blots on their record. But over the decades of being an Elder, and after, I found out different.

  So I think that the majority couples fool around in some way prior to marriage, and most of those never "confess".
  And good for them.

  Money....

  i believe all our worst nightmare are believing money will make our life's complete.

  i am not talking about money providing life's comforts, but i am mortified that contentment and happiness always requires " more money"..ummm i need a window cleaner, a flashy car and a 50inch t.v screen to be happy.

  money...well in my opinion we need money integrity to be happy, but it seems such a waste of life to search for the making of money more than ....well what i mean "hey" most of us have more money than most, and would the making or having more money really make you happier?.

  FYI on that - generally people who win the lottery are people who were NEVER prepared for dealing with having lots of money, nor are the circle of family and friends part of a group of people who have money and are not looking to benefit from the pot of gold in their reach.

  Think of being a guy who is running a local print shop getting promoted to the CEO of Staples. He will not do well. It's not the position that is bad, its the person's lack of ability to handle the responsibility.

  Splane "Bible writer's not logical"

  bethelite asked splane since mt 25 is set in the great trib because half way through mt 24 events turn to the great trib, does that not mean the generation starts when the great tribulation starts and has nothing to do with 1914. splane replied the bible writers were not logical they would pick a topic then randomly go back to another topic.
