I agree with you 100%
No idea why I would get 2 negatives? I was an elder for 2 decades, I think my opinion on this isn't crazy.
someone said on forum they knew someone df for not going to assigned meeting in old days .

august 11, 2017 to all bodies of elders re: 2018 memorial invitations and date of special talk .
fyi:.
the 2018 memorial will be held on saturday, march 31, 2018.. the 2019 memorial will be held on friday, april 19, 2019..
I look at this from a different point of view.
This talk is for The IN. Not for those invited by the campaign or RVs.
It was one of the hardest things EVER to get a call or study to come to Memorial.
We had VERY VERY few "interested ones" show up each year.
Believers Family and Faders would be the ones you would see - not anyone from the Campaign work.
I think this is directed at fanning the flames of the BASE.
everything really is up for grabs.. our sense of "absolutes" is always under fire.
we are taught to invest all of our belief in the very idea of something being true and absolute and constant.but--is that illusory?.
examine how this works: jesus was tortured and murdered by hanging him on a cross.
TerryWalstrom10 hours ago10 hours ago10 hours ago10 hours agoThe statue had a clear dedication: The pillar is engraved, "In memory of the boys who wore gray."
And what were the Boys In Grey fighting for?
This is like having a Monument for the Brownshirts in Berlin.

There are pretty clear guidelines for DFing - and most elders do not want to DF people.
COs and the Branch review DFings - so things that the WT does not consider valid don't really happen.
If someone says they got DFed for masturbating or going to a club - they are probably not telling you the whole story.

The Confederate Flag has undergone a similar 180 in the South by becoming a benign symbol of the South itself and its spirit of good ole boy rambunctiousness.
I have to disagree strongly on this one.
From experience - the only people I have ever seen that like the Confederate Flag are - frankly bigots.
could the teaching that jesus is michael the archangel, be soon to be discarded?
first of all, watchtower is big on image and this is one of those teachings that paint the jw religion as being rather kooky and heretical.
secondly, this teaching is not an original watchtower teaching but one they inherited from their second adventist ancestry.
That isn't even in the top 100 baseless things they spew out that they would think about changing.
on video "benefits of divine education" william samuelsson makes totally appalling comment.. starting from 3:05 he refers to "an effort" that was made in past to see how society's curriculum corresponds with normal - worldly - universities.. then he claims that following question was asked (to university representative) "how we in five months can teach the same that for them takes two years"?.
according to w samuelsson the representative of a university replied something like this: "your students are motivated, they have come to learn where as our students have been send to university by their parents and might have something else than learning in their mind".
this is to crystallize what he said.
There was an elder in my hall - that could bearly speak English - who would always comment how Jahs Edumacation is = to a Harvard degree.
People would eat it up.
The irony that he being in the org for 40 years - in the school that whole time - could not write a decently constructed sentence - pronounce simple words wrong like NORTH (he would say NORF) or even really understand what he was saying himself.
Now it's not his fault he never finished High School - but to say you got better than a Harvard Degree - delusional!

Yea - how many times did we hear proudly - "this is a school you never graduate from"
Why? Is public speaking harder than Astrophysics (which you do graduate from)?
It was just a mechanism to control your life - with the same refrain - You can NEVER do or BE ENOUGH!
i hate to say this, but given my own experience as a jw for almost 3 decades, i am beginning to believe the average jw will continue to look to and be guided by the gb regardless of whether they are right or wrong.. despite all the scandals and negative media attention the watchtower organisation is receiving, life seems to go on as normal in jw land.
it's truly bizarre!!.
clearly, the gbs tactic of mostly hiding away from the media is clearly working for them.
Thats why it is a CULT!
in my area i know of four congregations dissolved in one circuit, so that leaves eight weeks a year empty for that circuit overseer's calendar.
dissolving congregations is happening more than in my area, so i believe we can assume other c.o.s have open time.
it appears that c.o.s are visiting with a companion c.o.
