I’m pretty sure the awkward ‘Life Everlasting’ title is directly from a NWT wording of a Bible verse. The NWT was so badly worded that it often made no sense.

Does Society Receive State Funding in Norway?
by Band on the Run ini periodically check the talk page of the jw wikipedia page.
when i entered the search terms, i noticed jw in norway, which aroused my curiosity.
according to the article on religion in norway, norway funds most religious groups.

I just recently learned about this in Norway. Apparently all religions, including JWs, historically have received funding from the government. Just this year, though, the JWs lost that funding and are appealing the decision, as DJW has referenced. I watched a video about it that had been discussed on this site a couple of months ago.
Edited to add: I didn't notice that this thread is 10 years old and DJW was adding the update.
Here is a video interview related to this:

I Found Some Extremely Rare Rutherford Recordings
by Nosferatu ini was blown away when i found these watchtower records with rutherford on them.
these aren't the ones that were used door to door.
these are 16 inch records that were sent to radio stations to broadcast rutherford over the airwaves.

I'd like to hear one, just to get an idea of what they were saying back then.
When I was a kid in the '70s, there were some recordings (not Rutherford) that the WT produced that were played on the radio. They were short conversations between two individuals, one asking questions about soul, hellfire, etc with simplistic answers and then some type of contact information. I'm not sure when that stopped, but it must have been '71 or '72 that I remember.

JeffT, a frequent poster here, asked me to review his recent book published in 2021:
--- Armageddon's Disciples, When Prophecy Fails --- by Jeff Thomas
I found it very interesting and well worth the time to read. I was the first reader to leave a review on Amazon.
The paperback is $13.95, but there is a Kindle version if you are into that.
At its most basic level it is a murder mystery, a whodunit with multiple possible culprits, solved by a tenacious police investigator. What comes as a bit of a surprise is that it is based on a high-control religious group with cultlike characteristics which will make any JW blush... just a bit too close for comfort. Jeff is careful to keep it in the world of fiction, but the point becomes clear as the tale progresses. Escapees from other, non-JW cultish groups will also find it insightful.
I received no compensation other than an evaluation copy of the book in paperback.
Viewers may recall that Jeff put out a call for readers and reviewers a few weeks ago on this site:

Lol, Columbia sounds like they wanted to have no part of it. It says ‘this record was pressed but not recorded by Columbia phonograph’.

New JW.Watch Website - Plans, Ideas & Submissions
by Simon ini want to create a new site to help people leaving the wts.. the idea is that it will be curated content of articles and videos on specific subjects such as how to fade, how to handle family, personal experiences of leaving, mistakes to avoid, plus practical life matters impacted by the wts such as how to create or rebuild a career, planning for retirement, getting counselling, making friends etc.... the idea is that it should be lots of voices to share the love and promote lots of people's channels so it becomes a more effective resource (hopefully there will always be something informative and appealing to the people visiting).. if you have a youtube channel that you would like featured, or maybe have some specific video or series that would suit, i'd be happy to include them.. likewise, if you have a subject you'd like to write about and can share some practical knowledge and guidance on, or have a life-story you'd like to share because your experience could benefit others, please let me know.. i bought a domain and setup some placeholder content:.
https://jw.watch.
please message me or post here if you have any questions or ideas..

Don't reenforce the belief that the WTS is in control
This is why I don’t believe in writing a disassociation letter. The WT has no right to ask for one, and I have no obligation to write one. Screw them.

My only suggestion is that it be mobile friendly. If it were possible to have a phone app with an easy to navigate interface it would go over well.

An offer in exchange for some help.
by JeffT inas some of you might recall, i self-published a novel last fall.
i hoped “armageddon’s disciples” would be successful as my previous works (an alternate history trilogy) had done well.
not so with “disciples.” i’ve sold a total of nine copies.

When did JWs stop reciting the Lord’s Prayer together?
by slimboyfat indoes anyone know what year?

Thanks, I was totally unaware of this, though I was attending as a child since the early sixties and I thought I had heard of everything.
I suggest they dropped the practice about the time the NWT supplanted the KJ and ASV in JW use. The NWT really butchered the poetic cadence, I doubt they would have wanted to recite 'let your name be sanctified' in unison.
