Reddit post is reporting some work at the site of Russell's missing pyramid:

sometime within the last 2 weeks, someone took a sledgehammer to the pyramid monument in allegheny.
they stole the topstone, smashed the cross and crown emblem and removed the seal.. personally i'm surprised it lasted this long untouched.
although through the years russell's grave has been vandalized, it was always repaired by the bible students..

how do they verify this claim,if they can and how easy do we debunk this claim if we can ?.
what is needed to verify a claim made by anyone or an organization ?.
i`m interested in what you have to say about this ..
Neither organization was chosen by God for anything. The claim a complete fabrication.
a new book on the events of the 1917 schism titled rutherford's coup is officially out on amazon.. authored by rud persson.
description.
raised a baptist, in 1906, joseph franklin rutherford, a provincial missouri attorney with a shrewd and scheming legal mind, became a baptized “bible student.” in 1907, rutherford became the legal counselor for the group's legally chartered corporation, the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania.
Curious, at one time in my life I was really interested in the post 1917 period of WT history, and even toyed with the idea I might write a book on it sometime. Looks like someone beat me to it. Good thing, I don't think I would have done a good job anyway.
I was convinced that a most of the things I really hated about the religion came from that time period and were the result of Rutherford. I collected and read much of the Bible Student literature available at the time. Even had all the Epiphany Studies by PSL Johnson. Reading all that stuff gives context to the rantings of Rutherford. There was definitely a rivalry between Rutherford and the Bible Student leaders for the minds and hearts of the Bible Students. I still believe, for instance, that Rutherford's choice of the name 'Jehovah's Witness' came out of this confrontational environment. He wanted to 1) differentiate the WT-associated Bible Students from the rest of the Bible Student groups, and 2) find a clever way to explain away what the 'Witness' of Jehovah was, since the name previously had been applied only to the Great Pyramid, one of Russell's beliefs which Rutherford rejected (at least he was correct to ditch the Pyramid crazies).
is it possible that jw's would get so worn out by watchtower 's bullshit that they would stand up gather their stuff and walk out of a meeting or a convention.
i can see a small number doing it..
To draw a comparison to the business world ( I worked for an insurance company at one point in my life) a loss of retention occurs over time. People become dissatisfied, because of a price increase or bad customer experience for instance, but they don’t leave immediately. They start to drop out gradually over a period of time (6 months to a year in that industry).
the org has been exposed for abusing dmca laws to hunt down and punish anonymous faders/jw's.. https://pubcit.typepad.com/clpblog/2022/05/watch-tower-drops-its-effort-to-identify-a-dissident-blogger-based-on-spurious-copyright-claims.html.
if you talk to a jw, tell them how wisely the "faithful slave is looking after the masters belongings.

During the hearing, Watch Tower’s counsel made the outrageous statement that Watch Tower’s litigation strategies were confined by a lack of “significant funds,” and that its approach to the litigation was guided by “significant economic motivations." (bottom of page 18 of the transcript). Because Watch Tower’s 990T forms are publicly available as required by law, it is a matter of public knowledge that Watch Tower has more than a billion dollars in assets. Watch Tower is fortunate that it never made this representation about limited resources in a signed document.
An interesting read, the source appears to be a Consumer Advocate blog. The wording is a bit slanted in favor of McFree, but seems factual.
theres a couple of threads re: 1914 on the board right now and it got me thinking.. the jw doctrine of the 1914 generation is a key doctrine , yet it is probably the number one reason most have left over the decades.. 1975- within one generation.. 1995 - new understanding of the word generation.. 2010- overlapping generation first mentioned- some anointed survive armageddon.. 2015- infamous overlapping generations chart featuring david splane.. its obvious the org is changing the goalposts and constantly trying to squeeze as much time as they can before they have to abandon this altogether.
or will they come up with something new?.
does anyone else think this ever changing doctrine is responsible for the biggest loss of members?.
I say that virtually nobody actually believes the overlapping generation thing. They may say they do, but no, it makes no sense to anyone.
i was blown away when i found these watchtower records with rutherford on them.
these aren't the ones that were used door to door.
these are 16 inch records that were sent to radio stations to broadcast rutherford over the airwaves.
Back in the days when there was no TV, and Radio was The source of comedy, drama, and news, Rutherford was somewhat well known across the country (US) based on the radio speeches. He had a rivalry and mutual hatred for Father Coughlin. They were divisive times through the depression leading up to WW2.

background.
I’m pretty sure the awkward ‘Life Everlasting’ title is directly from a NWT wording of a Bible verse. The NWT was so badly worded that it often made no sense.
i periodically check the talk page of the jw wikipedia page.
when i entered the search terms, i noticed jw in norway, which aroused my curiosity.
according to the article on religion in norway, norway funds most religious groups.
I just recently learned about this in Norway. Apparently all religions, including JWs, historically have received funding from the government. Just this year, though, the JWs lost that funding and are appealing the decision, as DJW has referenced. I watched a video about it that had been discussed on this site a couple of months ago.
Edited to add: I didn't notice that this thread is 10 years old and DJW was adding the update.
Here is a video interview related to this:

I'd like to hear one, just to get an idea of what they were saying back then.
When I was a kid in the '70s, there were some recordings (not Rutherford) that the WT produced that were played on the radio. They were short conversations between two individuals, one asking questions about soul, hellfire, etc with simplistic answers and then some type of contact information. I'm not sure when that stopped, but it must have been '71 or '72 that I remember.
