Personnally, I learned how to use a manual transmission when I got my first car and now I wouldn't do without it anymore. There's too much fun with the feeling that you can completly control the car. Also, I found out quickly how to use the compression when I need to stop. This prevent my brake from wearing out so I change them less often.

question for all
by bonnzo inmost of you are ex-dubs, so what if world events proved that the jw's were right.
for instance, governments turning on religion, matthew 24th chapt events really increasing at an alarming rate, enough to make you think: " maybe they were right?
" if that happened, and the wts left the "door on the ark", so to speak, open for a little while, would you go back to the wts?

I'd rather die than live with an organisation like the Watchtower.

Hard Evidence of Life After Death, is there any?
by Blueblades in.
are you a blind believer or do you have evidence of a continued existence beyond physical death either personal in nature or from scientifically valid sources?.

I tend to agree with Sadie. If there's something like a soul that can survive our death, I haven't seen any proofs of it yet. Houdini who was a famous magician once said that even the death would not be able to stop him. He told a secret code to his wife and he told her he would come back after his death to proove that he's still here by showing the secret code to his wife.

UFOs - secret military projects from planet EARTH?!?!
by zagor injust finished watching this discovery program, that makes convincing case that ufo are nothing but very advanced military projects that have been going on for years.
in fact, it all started in nazi germany, and the company that was commissioned to produce them was none other than skoda , car company from czechoslovakia.
interesting indeed.

I just fail to see why it would be more credible just because it has been aired on Discovery Channel? My philosophy teacher would call it an "appeal to the authority". You can't say that something is true just because someone or an organisation with a high level of authority said it was true.

The Watchtower Says 1 In 4 Persons Likely To Have A Mental Illness!
by minimus inthat's on their website....do you believe this?
-
Nicolas
Personnally, I think that nobody is 100% sane. Everyone has some sort of "mental illness". It's just a matter of drawing the line between what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

Two paragraphs -- how sad!
by Schizm inthe following are quotes of 2 paragraphs from an article posted on the wts's website.
it's sad how many flaws there are in just these 2 paragraphs alone.

I just don't care if these facts are true or false. Anyway, you could argue during hours about what is in the Bible. As Euclide said in the antiquity: what can be claimed without proof can also be denied without proof.

What have you discovered on the journey?
by dh in.
the journey being life, what have you discovered that you never expected to... could be a musician, actor, a movie, a type of food, a thought, a realisation, a religion, a thing about your personality or an emotion, a particular song... it could be anything really.... what have you discovered?

I realized that life doesn't need to have a fixed goal like the one we were taugh in the WBTS. We can still enjoy life even if there's no precise meaning to it. After my escape from the borg, I consider myself as an atheist, but if you really want to know if a believe in something, I will say that I believe in life as it is. The simple facts of life like enjoying the return of the summer and seeing the nature coming back to life after a long winter. In Quebec, it's almost like a phoenix coming from back from its ash with the long and cold winter that we have. ;-)

Super Volcanoes and How They can Change the World
by hawkaw inhowdy folks.
as i geoscienists i am also interested in these old large scale eruptions such as the toba eruption that occurred some 74,000 years ago.
below geologists discuss the potential for an eruption at yellowstone, another site where we had a super eruption.

I the WBTS read this, they'll probably try to use it as a way to convert new people. The always use their old fear technique. Even if what I read is true, I won't get back to the WBTS because they are liars.

I don't know if you are still here AloneinOh (I hope so). If you can read me, I want you to know that even if life suck sometime, it always gets better as time goes on. We're all human here and we all have our bad time but the sun always come after the rain. When I was around 19 years old, I was contemplating suicide msyelf, but I got some help with a psychologist and now, it gets better everyday. All you need is some help. Asking help doesn't mean that you are coward.

One saturday, when I was around 10 years old, my father decided to visit my uncle. My uncle and his family was in org just like our family. When we arrived at my uncle's home, my cousin who has the same age than me was really impressed to see me. He told me that during the morning, he was bored and he decided to pray Jehovah because he wanted me to come to his house. During this period, we were both really good friend. Anyway, it's probably the biggest coincidence I've seen in my life. It's sad that I've lost contact with this cousin, someone told me that he's now out of the org so maybe, I'll try to talk to him someday.
