It kind of remind me of the song "Losing my religion" from R.E.M. Anyway, I think you had a good point but at the beginning it is frightening to look at the world and all the opportunity in it when all you had was the Watchtower.

Upsizing your life...
by AuldSoul inevery time you go to a fast food restaurant they ask you a standard question: what size?
now, they are talking about deep-fried transfatty acid sticks and flavored sugar water.. i have noticed a lot of people have had the same struggle i have had: life as a spokesperson for the greatest person in the universe was a pretty big life.
how do i replace that?.

The joy of waking up and then have to get out in the cold to start a car who would hate winter as much as I do if he was alive. At least, there's also the joy of not having to wake up on saturday morning and then go from door to door even in the most freezing weather.

by ButtLight inpictures lol got any ghost pics or pics you find strange?

Even with a polaroid and without Photoshop, it's not so hard to give a ghostly look to an object. You just need to have a fast moving object within a motionless background and then if your shutter is slow enough, you will see a ghost picture of the object.

Anyone have ever seen a ghost (spirit)?
by Nicolas inwhen i was going at the kingdom hall with my father (i was very young), it happened from time to time that the subject of spirits entered in the conversation.
then at this point, it seemed that everyone had their own little story to tell about the spirits of the devils.. .
personnally, i'm always skeptic about these things and i won't believe it until i see it.

Do you consider that every story we hear about haunted house can ben explained by something natural rather than the supernatural? I've never seen one story that couldn't be explained naturally or debunked. By example, it is now known that the Amityville horror story was a hoax (unfortunately, I don't remember at which website I found this information). -

I did basically the samething a few years ago when I discovered all the documentation about the JW on the Internet. I think I was young and with a lack of experience lol. When I saw all the infos that showed the Watchtower was just a big lie, I thought to myself "Why not give this information to my sister who is still in the org". Little did I know that she would immediatly react as if I was a big threat to her while what I was really trying to do was to help her. I haven't talked to my two sisters since this time.
It become hard to understand their reaction when you are on the other side (not a JW anymore) but, you have to remember that when you were yourself a brainwashed JW, you had the same reaction when you heard something negative about the Watchtower.
Now I don't care so much anymore about it and I think that they choose to hurt themselve by doing this shunning. I decided that I shouldn't stop living my life just because they don't accept it. -

Does anybody of you has become an atheist? Personnally, I don't know if jehovah, god or whatever you call it exist but I do know that if he exist, he's really discreet. He's so discreet that I tend to believe that he just doesn't exist.

Hi everyone and happy new year. It's been a long time since I posted here, I've been lurking for a while too but now I would like to share my experience. I would also like to hear your experience. Some of you may be just in the beginning of the recovery process other may have moved on with their life... Personnally, I would say that my recovery is still not completed but as years goes by, it keeps getting better. I began my research about the Watchtower in 2001. Like many of you, I was still a little afraid to search on the Internet, I still had the old fear that the JW organisation taught me when I was younger. And, I didn't know that there were so much people who were going through the same process. At the beginning, you feel really alone and what you learned from the WBTS do not help you to get rid of this loneliness. It's hard to make new friends when you learned that everything from the world (outside of the organisation) is bad. Now, in 2007 I'm working as a graphist, I like my job and I have an offer for a new job in the same company I'm working now but in London. I will be quite happy if I can get this job in London even if it's only for four month as I've never visited Europe. One thing I'm still trying to cope with is my shyness and I will try to get to know as much as possible people in 2007 as a way to get rid of this shyness. Also, when I realized that everything I learned about the wbts was false, I had a lot of questions. I wanted to know if there really was a true god if what was supposed to be only true religion was false. Also, I was wondering what was the purpose of life if everyone die and then nothing happen after (in opposite to the resurrection teaching of the WBTS). But now, I don't care so much about these things, I think that the most important thing is to be happy in the present. In fact, my primary goal for life now is to be happy. As someone said (I think it was Thomas Jefferson): "If you don't agree that hapinness is the purpose of life, than you are choosing something that isn't happiness as your purpose for living".

The new Track has anyone heard?
by ladione5000 inwe are all doomed to death, i think by the end of this year too, so we dont have long .
i heard that the work is going to stop, that would be kindof nice here since it is so cold in the winter and knocking on doors waking people up is really lame in the first place, i often wondered why we had to hit the streets so early and make people so angry?.
well supposely this new track is hitting him where it hurts, they are out right telling people they are going to die at the hands of god if they do not join up with the jws right now.

Wow, if they really asked everyone to stock up for three month of food supply, then they are really desperate to get some attention. I guess the people who were at the Bethel in 1975 are now gone, so the new people didn't see the mess it was.

What the hell? Are they doing once again some sort of prediction about Armageddon coming? I thought, they learned the lesson in the 70's when their prediction came out to be wrong once again. I'm curious about this new tract, are they doing a campaign to distribute as much as possible of these? When I was a kid, I remember that we were told that only god know when Armageddon would come... Are they changing the doctrine once again?

How to brainwash only part of your brain.
by Ingenuous ini was talking to a mental health professional (don't remember her credentials) about jws.
part of what i couldn't get my brain around was how jws (myself included, when i was "in") can seem to function so well in other areas, but so easily and completely give up their minds to others when it comes to the org.
the behavior seems so irrational and deluded, with so many cognitive distortions at work, that healthy functioning in other areas would appear precluded.

It's a lot like what George Orwell describe as "doublethink" in his book "1984"...
"Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. (...) To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies" (Georges Orwell, 1984)
