What about Witnesses who don't pursue higher education and have to work two jobs and long hours to support their families because they never learned any marketable skills and are now too busy to linger in prayer to Jehovah, too exhausted to enjoy bible discussions with others, and too tired to prepare well for the meetings? There also those who never went to college who are too busy looking for work, too exhausted from getting turned down at job interviews, and too mentally frustrated and disenchanted to bother with the meetings. There are also the millions of baptized Witnesses who never went to college who don't find time to pray, don't go to meetings, yet show up once a year for the Memorial. Targeting higher education is an apostate teaching. The bible directly and indirectly encourages people to learn about science, numbers, deep thinking, nature and humanity -- all things taught in college. The bible condemns ignorance.

Jehovahs Witness n Retention rates !!! Check this out.
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara ina study of religious retention rates–that is, what percentage of people raised in a particular church or religion stay with it when they are grown–is quite interesting.
https://www.patheos.com/blogs/geneveith/2012/07/religious-retention-rates/.

It may only seem like a higher percentage of Mormon's are leaving their faith because there are twice as many of them as JWs. There are only about 8 million Witnesses in the world, but there are well over 16 million Mormons. And in the U.S. there are a little over 1.2 million JWs, but over 6.5 million Mormons. So while they are both losing a lot of members, percentage-wise the Witnesses are losing at a higher rate.

Gay ex-JWs who were in special full-time service
by matt2414 inare there any gay ex-witnesses on here who were in special full-time service such as circuit work, bethelite, mts, or missionary work?
when and what country?
i was always told there were a lot gays in full-time service but it always felt very lonely.

It's easier to be young and gay in the organization because you are indoctrinated with the idea that everyone else feels the same way and that it's all a "choice." But as you mature and become wiser the feelings never leave and your eyes open. Especially if you've served on a judicial committee "judging" individuals who have same-sex feelings. I know the problem exists, but I wonder how many have found the way out and, perhaps, websites like this. I'll probably try Reddit as suggested by Confusedandangry.

Watchtower Now Considers Elders to Be Clergy Class
by Roger Kirkpatrick inmy father's uncle and spiritual mentor, benjamin ray kent, had been a deacon (ministerial servant) in watchtower founder c. t. russell's home ecclesia (congregation) in brooklyn, and also served as russell's personal secretary at brooklyn bethel.
after attending university my father served a 5-year prison term during world war ii, supposedly for his loyalty to god.
while his mother's proud and patriotic family disowned my father for his decision, it was his uncle ray who regularly visited him in prison.. that is the culture in which i was raised, and for much of my life, i took great pride in the belief that my father was a man of integrity to god.

This isn't surprising when you consider the Governing Body now claims the organization is a hierarchy and not a brotherhood of equals, as Christ said. Wikipedia even has the article "Organizational structure of Jehovah's Witnesses" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organizational_structure_of_Jehovah%27s_Witnesses#cite_ref-1), with the first footnote pointing to the Cobb v. Brede court case wherein the Watchtower lawyer admitted, "We are a hierarchical religion structured just like the Catholic Church."

Defend Jehovah's Witnesses.. False claim from opposers of JW's--Creative Day..

James Mixon -How do they get around this "So the evening and the morning were the 1st day and etc".
They used to teach that the "evening" referred to the beginning of the creative process when things would be unclear to outside observers such as the angels. "Morning" referred to the end of the process when it would become clear what God had created. They claimed the process of each "day" was 7,000 years. Of course this is merely supposition considering there are no eyewitnesses around from that time period to declare otherwise.

I remember a few years ago a fellow Bethelite at WT Farms was waiting for her Bible student to show up and take the tour. When she arrived she was dressed like the Statue of Liberty, wearing a robe and crown and holding a torch. The Bethelite was so embarrassed she tried to take her student to isolated places around the farm so no one would see her. I just laugh when I think about it now. -

Bethelities, GB field service?
by James Mixon inthe time they actually spend knocking on doors and cart work??
?

I remember Bethel elders used to count time giving public talks, talks on assemblies, informal witnessing and maybe a Bible study with an inactive person to get their 8-10 hours a month. It wasn't very substantial for "minister" in "full-time" service. -

Are baptisms under the age of 18 valid? Can one baptised/dedicated prior actually be dfed according to law?
by EndofMysteries inin a business law class i've been learning all about contracts.
i wonder if for all of those who were baptized prior to the age of 18, if the wt/elders could be forced on our insistence that our dedication/baptism as a minor was made without proper mental capacity and that it be declared invalid, henceforth having never been baptized then family, etc, would be free in wt's eyes to treat as any non-jw vs shunning as an ex-jw.

"Even so, you went along with it all this time. Your actions since show you are in agreement."
It's ironic. When the Governing Body knowingly covers up the actions of thousands of pedophiles worldwide over several years, don't their actions also show they are in agreement? Hmmm, you can't have it both ways.
Psalms 50: 18, 21-22
"When you see a thief, you approve of him, and you keep company with adulterers. ... When you did these things, I remained silent, so you thought that I would be just like you. But now I will reprove you, and I will state my case against you. Please consider this, you who forget God, so that I may not tear you to pieces with no one to rescue you."

Impressions of the Governing Body; who's smart, who ain't?
by Room 215 inbased on what we've seen, it seems to me that of the seven, splane and jackson are the smartest; herd, lett and morris the least intelligent; and sanderson and losch somewhere in the middle.
.
what's your impression?.

Isn't Geoffrey Jackson the GB member who struggled to come up with coherent and reasonable answers in August when he was questioned by the Royal Commission that was investigating the Australian Branch's massive cover-up of over one thousand pedophiles? He came off looking like an idiot, incapable of explaining a few Bible texts and unable to defend the Watchtower's twisted interpretation of scripture.
