  Pseudo history in Watchtower today 😂

  gorby went to the kh for family reasons today.. and landed right away middle in a pseudo history watchtower article.

  just that aspect of the jw belief he is so sensative about.. so 1918 and 1919 are changed with one mark of a pencil.

  the argument of change was in the past the argument of the doctrine.

  Some quotes from the study that stood out in my mind...

  Many who thirsted for Bible truth fled to countries where the influence of the church was less pervasive. They wanted to read and study and converse with one another without being told what to think.

  Brother Russell’s goal was to ascertain which of the prevailing religions was teaching the truth. He had carefully compared the teachings of many different religions, even non-Christian religions, with what the Bible says.

  Both of which reeks of apostasy!

  Which leads to the following...
  

  Men and women were condemned for heresy because they rejected teachings of the church...The church handed down the death sentence...The goal was to discourage people from reading the Bible and questioning the church

  Substitute "church with JW.org and you see the conditions today.

  Brother Hitting on Df'd Brothers Wife at KH

  interesting story i have a friend who is df but his wife still faithfully goes to meetings.

  there's a single brother in the cong that is always flirting with his wife.

  well at a recent meeting my df friend decided to show up to check this brother out.

  This is one of the reasons I went from faded to going with my wife to KH.

  She is still active and regular at meetings. She told me about a couple of instances where some brothers kind of creeped her out. I felt I needed to be there to protect her even if the meetings were coma inducing.

  in it he points out that in the reference bible used by jws they admit that jesus and jehovah are the same thing.. so i looked it up online on jw.org.

  yep it's there.. 1 peter 3:15. but sanctify the christ as lord* in your hearts,+ always ready to make a defense+ before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper+ and deep respect.*.

  Thanks for the input Saename and TheWonderOfYou...it's as clear as mud to me now ;-)

  I assume a textural variant is basically a different version of the same text as the name implys?

  So that would mean that one of the texts was in error no?
  

  If that is the case, than it would be up to the reader to figure out which one makes more sense in line with the rest of scripture.

  This is to say that when the JW Bible with references has "Jehovah God" in the footnote, it does not refer to Jesus.

  Okay...Not sure I get what you are saying.

  The footnote says ...

  “The Christ as Lord,” אABC; TR, “the Lord God”; J7,8,11-14,16,17,24, “Jehovah God.”

  when referring to proclaiming "Christ as Lord". So it is saying Jesus Christ is "Jehovah God" no?

  Maybe I am not reading the format of the footnote correctly?

  Click the asterisk by lord and this comes up...

  Do you see what I see?

  Check some of Searchers threads if you really want your mind blown. Literally dozens of scriptures that all apply to Jesus, while all along you thought they were about the other big J

  I have a list of scriptures I am slowly going through and meditating on that I got from Searcher. He is THE MAN (or woman I dunno) but they have their stuff together that's for certain.

  This scripture just struck me because they (The JWs) harp and harp about bearing witness to the big J (as LostGeneration put it) But this is so plain and simple...no mental gymnastics to jump through, no complicated theology to learn.

  Either Jah has blinded me and I am just mentally diseased or Jesus has opened my eyes.

  Maybe it's a little of both. I guess time will reveal.

  we all know that one of the major advantages the society now has with everything being on its official website, is the ability to quickly change content when they desire.. so older articles that show them to have made mistakes, are simply re-written or edited...or even just deleted!

  simple!

  Now that the WT can "update" their library on CD at will we will see more of this undoubtedly.
