Actually I started a post on this a while back.
My wife, (a totally in JW sister) uses it as do several in our local congregation.
We are in California where it's been legal medically and now available recreation-ally.
We had a local needs talk on it a couple of years ago and basically it's up to your own conscience.
A brother wouldn't be eligible for extra privileges if he smokes it however.
We've even grown our own the past couple of years :-)

Special Public Talk - 2017
by Nicholaus Kopernicus induring yesterday's public talk, i noted the speaker did not make a full reference to the first outline point following the second reference to romans 12:21 - "but keep conquering the evil with the good".this first outline point as i call it, is as follows: "be willing to forgive others whenever there is a basis for doing so".
interesting conditionality i thought!
it references the aw of june 8th 1995 page 10 paras 6-7. in part it says there... "what though, if others sin against us in a more serious way, deeply injuring us?
-
NikL
What about us? Insight on the Scriptures says: "Christians ae not required to forgive those who practice willful sin with no repentance. Such become God's enemies."
That never ceases to piss me off when they quote their own book as some sort of authority to argue their point.

Our speaker did use the full point "Be willing to forgive others whenever there is a basis for doing so".
I was struck by that conditionality.
I failed to recall any scripture that makes such a distinction.

Proper understanding of the Mediator & New Covenant
by Crazyguy inmediator and the new covenant.
the society has taught that only the 144,000 are to par-take of the emblems and jesus only mediates and died for them.
"he is the mediator between his heavenly father, jehovah god, and the nation of spiritual israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.

As I was reading through your lengthy and well researched post I was struck by a thought that kept running through my head over and over again Namely, how can it be so freaking complicated?
Surely God and Jesus didn't intend for the message to be that way. The apostles were uneducated for the most part. This mumbo jumbo of the WT society requires mental gymnastics of Olympic proportions!
When you simply read gods word the bible, you get a completely different message. No matter what the evil slave in New York says.
Jesus died for all men to believe and be saved.
The message is so clear really.

1 Timothy 2 says to "Pray for Kings and those in high postitons". Why don't JWs do that?
by NikL insurely the jaydubs have read these scriptures.. it seems pretty plain even in their own bible.. 2 first of all, then, i urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made concerning all sorts of men, 2 concerning kings and all those who are in high positions, so that we may go on leading a calm and quiet life with complete godly devotion and seriousness.+ 3 this is fine and acceptable in the sight of our savior, god,+ 4 whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved+ and come to an accurate knowledge of truth.
5 for there is one god,+ and one mediator+ between god and men,+ a man, christ jesus,+ 6 who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all —this is what is to be witnessed to in its own due time.. .
i looked up the word "intercession" and it is defined as.... intercession or intercessory prayer is the act of praying to a deity on behalf of others.. i looked for reference to this passage in the jw library and the article i found put the emphasis on "living a quiet calm life with seriousness and godly devotion".

I think you nailed it once again Outlaw.
Blondie...thanks for the links.
They pretty much prove my point. JWs don't pray or make intercessions for anyone unless it's for the good of the congregation only.
Surely NOT hat Paul had in mind!

I can't recall EVER hearing a prayer asking for Jehovah blessing and guidance to be upon the president, prime minister king or anything else. Well, maybe the slave.
