Since I cannot update my bio at this time let me introduce myself. Ex jw of 2 years. Was pimi for 24 and df'd for almost 3 years. Reinstated for almost 3 years and during that time I was pimo. Left shortly after marriage and my wife and most of my remaining jw family followed me. I do think most jw individuals are good people but the org is absolute filth with its treatment and brainwashing. Still a Bible believer but I go to many backgrounds for study in my personal faith such as atheists and Torah followers to name a couple. I joined today because I found a link with some old hard to find publications in them. I've been collecting a huge watchtower library and have quite a few coveted rarities. But as I've scrolled through for about 4 hours now I've found it to be a community I enjoy. I've seen that some members have passed away and I'm sorry I never got to meet them. But I'm glad to be here now and hope you are glad the same..

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

Dueteronomy has in its list of laws written therein not to shave the edges/corners or you beard. Its right next to do not tatto yourselves. So they just cherry pick what rules they want to follow out of the Bible

2034 - A Future History of Jehovah's Witnesses
by slimboyfat ini don't know what i am talking about... read this post at your peril.
back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.
those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

8 Year Old Can Decide If They Are Transgendered
by minimus inso says joe biden.. anybody agree with this?
?.

No. For the same reason no tattoo parlor will ink up anyone under 18. You don't have the life experiance to make the right choice.. you're just young and easily influence at that age and jumping into choices without thought of ramifications. If someone that young is having thoughts like that they need to talk to parents or someone trustworthy along with really thinking about it for a few years so they can make a sound decision that hopefully they won't regret when they are old enough to

Billions to die at Armageddon?
by BoogerMan innot according to this verse:.
(mark 3:28, 29) truly i say to you that all things will be forgiven the sons of men, no matter what sins they commit and what blasphemies they speak.
but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness forever but is guilty of everlasting sin.”.

Don't forget that God doesn't desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain repentance. The fact that many jws revel in the fact that they want "worldly" people to die to me would be gross in the eyes of the most high

I don't think many will physically go back just because of convenience. Since my family no longer attends we just observed a traditional Jewish passover with a traditional sedar and matzah. Enjoyed it thoroughly

How far do we get away from 1914
by PimoElder inhow far do we get away from 1914 before they have a new light and admit it was all wrong?.
they cling to the old theory of the 77 week prophecy from the wrong date that jerusalem was destroyed .
with the overlapping generations nonsense still we are getting too far away from 1914. what will they say if we get to the 2030s and they still cling to 1914?.
-
Judgerussellford
A huge problem with thier interpretation of this prophecy was the date fixed at 607 bce. Even in brother Patons book day dawn (published by watchtower 1880) they used the dates accepted by almost every historian, 536/537 bce. (Hope I remembered that right if I'm wrong please correct me). They used different math in the 1800s to arrive at 1914 but now they use a different interpretation of the 70 weeks and needed a new date. So they shoved 607 in there and its FAR from historically accurate. For this historical truth Carl Olaf Johnson was disfellowshipped but the gb. If I'm remembering anything wrong I accept correction

Can you list the positive points of being a JW as against the negative points of being a JW in your experience ?
by smiddy3 ini was a twenty y/old when i converted to the jw religion and was a problem drinker and i was a chain smoker .when i was baptized at a circuit assembly a year later , my conversion and change in lifestyle was given as an example of the effectiveness of incidental witnessing to the audience.. so i can point to the 2 positives becoming a jw .. 1.i gave up smoking.
2.i gave up drinking for a while ,but because i still had association with my wife`s and my family who were not jw`s ,i learnt to control my social drinking when i started again.. and i have been a responsible drinker ever since ,even though i left the religion 29 years ago.. the negative points of being a jw in my 32 years of being one ?
are far too great to list here .. love to hear your thoughts..

I think that you get forced to be mentally and morally clean. Thats fine and all but you have to be so strict and there's no room for error. In my experiance at least. When I messed up I was reproved (3 months after being reinstated) and threatened with being df'd again. You can be mentally and moral clean and chose a healthy lifestyle without having doctrine shoved down your through and being shamed and shunned when you mess up

What is the harm or downside of being PIMO?
by PimoElder inwhat is the harm or downside of being pimo?.
i get all the good things about being in the cong, good social life lots of invites to bbqs and meals out.
lots of interesting gossip 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

The downside is being fake. I hated it. Pretending to be something I wasn't. I don't have to pretend anymore and its very freeing. But you have to take your journey at a comfortable pace. And if you never fully leave, just teach people truth in discretion
