Strollers at DC

if i understand it correctly, strollers are not allowed at us conventions.. in sweden, a letter was written to the congregation, introducing this new rule.

however, quite a few families wrote letters to the society,.

asking if they wanted families with children to attend the assemblies or not... it was stated that they would not go unless strollers were allowed.. the society pulled back, allowing strollers in designated areas.. in norway, they didn t even bother to introduce the rule in the first place... .

The Jehovah's Witness Definition of the Word "Soon"

howdy guys and gals!.

forget the word "generation", the watchtower society has completely spun another word - "soon".. how many times did you (do you) hear jehovah's witnesses tell each other "the end is coming soon"?.

Sometimes I think that they meant to have a "space" in there so it should read "So on" instead of Soon.

You know like the comma that was put in the wrong spot when Jesus told the criminal next to him that "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise" It was just a typo.

A JW book stand just started near my work

a jw brother has setup a bookstand in a shopping mall area (outdoor) near my work.

i must say he's put some effort into creating the counter, and display stand.

at first i thought it was a coroprate stand selling insurance or something, then i saw "awake".. he had a really comfortable chair, and looked bored watching people walk past.. the local gov allow market stalls there three days per week.

I say have someone go in and record some of the conversations where they ask some thought provoking questions and then put them on Youtube.

how many of you have ever worked on a quick build?

here's a good one.

i am a professional pencil pusher by nature.....but many years ago i decided i would volunteer at quick builds so i could help "build a house for jehovah".

Used to go to a few in the Southern part of the USA and one night when we were getting ready to go to sleep on the floor on a blanket I hear a few of the key brothers in charge in the living room ( they were drinking) starting to get loud and start using the N word. I looked at the brother I rode with and asked if I could use his car to ride to a local Hotel to sleep instead of being in that house of prejudiced idiots. Of course the guys that used the N word were white and the hall we were working on was mostly black brothers and sisters.

They were the key people in charge of putting the building together!! Not administration.

on jwtalk.net, the jw apologists are all over the conti case, about how "dumb" the jury was, how it is certain to be overturned on appeal, how jehovah will vindicate his name, blah blah blah.. meanwhile, on another thread about the sandusky verdict, you will find these comments:.

so sad that it took all this time and ruined those young boys lives.

but what about the school officials, didn't they have a responsibility to report this to the authorities??.

If Jah will vindicate his name in the near future, why didn't he just "sway" the jury the first time?

I mean is it better for JWs that this made the courts and media and then get overturned in the future after the damage is already done OR just keep it out of the media to begin with?

Flipper Jr. & Flipper Sr. Leave Child Abuse News Releases at Kingdom Halls

of course everyone knows about the news of the candace conti child abuse case which has gone viral , ( one would have to live in a cave, under a rock, or another planet not to know about it ).

that being said - it may very well be that those jehovah's witnesses who do not use the internet, or read newspapers, or in simple english are neanderthal's, still living in the 19th century or before , out of fear of negative reprisal from wt authorities may have not even heard about this case because they are in the habit of not watching the news or using the internet.. so- with those particular type of people in mind my son flipper jr. & myself decided to print up about 20 copies of the candace conti child abuse lawsuit from the england daily mail issue , here's the link : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2160605/candance-conti-molested-jehovahs-witnesses-member-age-nine-wins-28milion.html?ito=feeds-newsxml .. so what we did is since we are doing some out of town jobs in several counties we figured we'd leave these child abuse news releases under jw car windshields at kingdom halls while they are out in field service.

we left about 15 so far at 3 different kingdom halls under car windshields .

Missing family dearly

hey people it's been a tough couple of weeks for me, my wife and i have seperated i expected this, but it has been much more difficult than expected.

my family has gotten a million times more distant because of my inactive status and questioning ofthe org.

i do have wordy friends but still feel pretty bad being alone i have even contemplated returning to meetings for the sole purpose of not losing y family and life, but i cannot fathom the thought of bowing down to their rules and sacrificing my own integrity.

Keep fighting the fight for what you know is right!!

You would be miserable going back to something that you know is a lie, not a easy choice but it is the best in the long run.

If you did go back, you would more than likely end up at this same spot in the future, after even more heartache.

Hang in there.

I think the Society might drop its appeal over the Conti case

i've been giving some thought to the recent development in which the judge has ruled that the society is barred from completing any property transactions until the appeal is over, which could take up to two years or even more.. i've submitted an article to randy at freeminds in which i basically argue that it is no longer in the society's interests to appeal this case.

if i correctly understand the restrictions placed on the society by the judge, then the governing body has far more to lose by appealing than they could conceivably gain.. think about it.... by appealing, they buy themselves time in which to formulate a long-term strategy for dealing with the fallout of this case, but will be barred from liquidating $1 billion in property assets at a time of global economic uncertainty when their donations are dwindling.

there is also no guarantee that their appeal will be upheld.by dropping their appeal, they take a hit and pay $23.8 million but retain the freedom to see through their real estate projects; retain their financial flexibility to respond to dwindling donations, and get to pretend to their followers (as with the un scandal) that it never happened.of course, i am only saying that dropping the appeal would be the only intelligent option for the society, assuming they are aware of how legally precarious their child abuse policies are.

I think that either paying in full and taking the "hit" is one option as it will get the media exposure put to bed sooner than later. Of course it would set a precedent to others thinking of, or currently sueing the WTBTS for abuse.

Or they can put up the cash and proceed with the appeal and also be allowed to move forward with the selling off of properties, moving up state etc. ( that is if the Judge would allow the money being deposited to release the hold on the sale of the properties)

I would opt for putting the money up and praying ( I know right?!) for a over turn of the judgement with the appeal. This would prevent others from moving forward with the case and also vindicate God Holy Name (I know right?) and would allow all the current Jws to breathe a sigh of relief as then they would really know that they are infact, in gods chosen organization. Because you know that if the WTBTS wins a court case Jah had something to do with it, and if they lose a court case, it was from the DEBIL!!!

I would think that if they took the cash and deposited it into a account that the courts had control over, then this hold on selling property would be lifted.
