yesterday, a jwn poster e-mailed me asking if i would post on this discussion board his recent email to steven unthank and also post stevens reply.
the reason for the request is because the poster has need to remain completely anonymous.
i agreed to share the email because i knew you would find stevens reply informative and interesting.. .
TO play Devils advocate, has this letter from Mr. Unthank been confirmed?

today i was doing some research for a new article, and i came across the following quote which succeeded in raising my eyebrows.... "the obligation to hate lawlessness also applies to all activity by apostates.
our attitude toward apostates should be that of david, who declared: 'do i not hate those who are intensely hating you, o jehovah, and do i not feel a loathing for those revolting against you?
with a complete hatred i do hate them.
" ,.....As individuals, those of 'the faithful and discreet slave' are imperfect humans. "
But when we meet together each and every week and our golden rings touch in unison, not to be mistaken with the pagan practice of toasting, we are no longer considered "individuals" and out powers together override our imperfectnesseses!!!"

service as a way of relieving our pain.... .
no, not field service.
i cant believe all the empty hours i spent knocking on doors, going where i was not welcome, not wanting to be there either, foisting magazines on people, occasionally studying with people in an effort to indoctrinate them.
I think that this might apply to going out in service.
( I had to make a edit and removed the word "severe" and replaced it with the word "MILD" as "severe" was used in both examples in error)
Further information: Effort justification
Dissonance is aroused whenever individuals voluntarily engage in an unpleasant activity to achieve some desired goal. Dissonance can be reduced by exaggerating the desirability of the goal. Aronson & Mills [16] had individuals undergo a severe or mild "initiation" in order to become a member of a group. In the MILD -initiation condition, the individuals engaged in an embarrassing activity. The group they joined turned out to be very dull and boring. The individuals in the severe-initiation condition evaluated the group as more interesting than the individuals in the mild-initiation condition.
---------
I believe that going out in service, aka severe initiation, would have us rank the JWs as "more interesting" of a group to be associated with as this would help us reduce the dissonance.
The more unatural or severe the initiation. What's more unatural than going from door to door to tell people that they are wrong and also giving public talks as public speaking is ranked high on the list of phobias.
Food for thought.

gems from the latest km on how to behave at the 2013 dcs..... .
if possible, care for restroom needs before the start of the session.
turn off your cell phone so that you will not be distracted by calls or texts or be tempted to text others during the program.
"And in case you did not notice, your still under our control while out in the corridors as you will notice the attendants with signs reminding you who is in charge as they tell to "please keep moving" and " quiet please"

i hear they may have wifi in some halls ..... and then we have cell phones, don't we?.
ever heard of a witness teenager who can blind text with the phone in his pocket?
you could download porn while the brother on stage condemns it.
I think that they can grab your MAC address from your phone etc and possibly see who was downloading what, not sure.

last week a sister in my new hall made the following comment,.
"a brother once told me that it is better to be wrong with the organization, than to be right and be on your own without the organization.".
wow.
From an elder
" Man is so smart that he can fire a spacecraft all the way to the moon and never hit a star!!"

lest we forget -- joseph rutherford, the man who wrote "millions now living will never die," has been dead more than 70 years now....
I realize that JF Rutherford meant that those that he was speaking to we're the ones that would never die. And he meant never experience death at all.
But the confirmation bias ( I think I an using the correct term) in the brother had him figuring out a way that the statement from JFK Rutherford could be made to work. And since these people did wind up experiencing death in the past, the idea that in the future, after being resurrected and passing all test from Jah, it could be said THEN that they would never die.

I probably read this on here in the past.
Someone said that they heard that some JW had reasoned that those that died and then will be resurrected in the future after the big A WILL not die in the New Order. And this would make JF Rutherford words actually come true.
He would make a great attorney or GB member.

recently i have seen an increase number of former members trying to argue ttatt with jws on youtube, news articles, facebook and public forums.
for the most part, i do not see a lot of vicious or hostile debates when former members are trying to show ttatt, but i have seen some arguments and approaches turn out very ugly, to the point of many face palms.. i remember there were several instances that completely turned me off towards ttatt as a believer because "apostates" would be entirely reprehensible and would fit the bill of what the society termed "mentally diseased".
i cannot fault ones here who have gone on a similar rampage now that i understand how people lose everything and everyone they love.
On another note, I watch quite a few of the Videos on Youtube and many of them start off by stating something to the effect of " If you are a current Jehovahs witness you should not be watching this video, please turn it off now."
So I'm not really sure what is happening here, would you want to trigger the lurking Jw to go into cult think and exit the video? What is the reasoning behind making an opening statement like this?

i ask a question on my other post but i think it got lost.
what is wt policy on what is approprate way of handling a person that is deceased ashes?
the reason why i ask is because we are having a family disagreement of how to handle my fathers ashes..
A close relative of mine said if he had his father ashes, he would flush them down the toilet. This was said while he is an elder.
Also as a side note, you can have ashes net off and have a man made diamond from the ashes, which is kinda neat
