  the girl has a quarter and is going to get an ice cream but then puts it in the contribution box instead.

  the gb want to make sure they guilt and suck the kids meager allowances dry as well and prep them as they grow up to keep giving!

  Plastic Surgery and JW's

  has anyone ever seen any articles on the appropriateness of plastic surgery for wittos?

  just popped into my head at work and don't think i can ever recall this even being given a mention at the meetings or in the literature.

  i guess it would fall into the same sort of bracket as tattoos, but then again looking at some of the mutton in our circuit it looks like they've indulged in this at some point.

  But what will happen to all those titanium rods and screws holding bones together in the new order? Will they dissapear into think air? Will the same happen to all the sisters that have had breastusist implants? Will they slowly deflate infront of everyone in a roar of " I knew it!!"

  with the official letter from the gb to all bodies of elders, a stylized jw.org banner can now be appended to kingdom hall signage.. what an auspicious year this will turn out to be for the organization!!.

  among other outcomes, the "link" with the old, baggage-ridden "watchtower bible & tract society" recedes into the background.

  furthermore, now you don't pretend to need feet trudging door-to-door - your worker is done at the press of a few directed fingers.

  Many cities have a sign ordinance that limits the amount of square feet allowed for a "business" . Usually an entity will use up all of their allotment when th initially build the sign and would need to get an approval for additional sq footage to be added.

  We know the kingdom halls will be adding these logos in the near future it might be nice to find out ahead of time from the department that over sees this from the city if there is a sign ordinance and if a church would need to be compliant with the ordinance.

  Do you think there would be any benefit to explaining cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias, sunken cost fallacy etc prior or at least early on in a conversation like this to prepare them for the mind wanting to back out of the logic trail?

  I would also explain what the Mormons etc that are discovering their religion is not what they think it is are experiencing when they start to investigate.

  Here is a great link to share, IMO, with someone willing to look at the WTBTS as possibly being wrong. It is the story of a Mormon thinking his way out of his religion and he uses the jws as a proxy religion so that he could remain somewhat unbiased.

  this is one of the most extraordinary interviews i've done on youtube to date and i'm not just saying that.. shawn "zen" dean shared his harrowing story with me of being raised in the jw "truth", going to watchtower farms and then getting his teaching degree only to end up homeless... lots of stories along the way, told with humor, sincerity and a heart full of love.. this is a tender-hearted guy that has had the ass-end of the stick his whole life... that's "the truth"!.

  hello there i am new to the faith and have been studying for about a month.

  i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.

  we do about 2 bible studies a week.

  What did I learn from this thread?

  I learned not to be quick in calling "troll" at the expense of scaring away a person who came to this site for answers

  about the WTBTS/Jw. The upside of making the "troll" comment was being first to call them out with the downside being that you more than likely prevented a person from seeing the WTBTS for what it truly is.

  There are so many variables that could happen in the future that could make a person "look" like a troll but in reality are not. A person could have misunderstood what was said, the person that share story X could have been lying, the story could be true and would be dealt with on a Judicial Commitee later, etc etc etc,..

  I hate seeing a person come here and get pounced on in a free for all with everyone jumping in sharing stories. I think its almost like information overload for the person asking the question. I wish there was a better way to handle situations like this although I do not know how to go about doing it.

  I would just ask everyone to think about the potential fallout regarding this person from the way this thread went down. I'm sure eventually she will hear from her study conductor about those that have left the WTBTS and their motives etc, What do you think JNJ will remember when this topic comes up?

  Why does the article state " Five members of a family of Jehovah's Witnesses were injured after being struck by lightning during a violent storm."

  What is the reason for this bit of info? Does the reporter think it will be humerous to its readers to possibly wonder if this was Gods doing?

  I just find it amazing how this would be pertinent to the article.

  About the reporting of the YMCA meet ups and you telling the other Jws and the elders. They will not chastise this person infront of a new prospective member. The last thing that they would want you to see is a current member being counseled about something so silly.

  Here is a video showing the article from the Jws stating that fact. The video actually has another reason behind being made but it covers the YMCA issue perfectly. There is so much you need to know, we are trying to help you with this and I know that you are hearing some conflicting info and I would like to share a few other links where you can go to get info about this "High Control Group" aka cult.

  See Steven Hassan, cult expert, website at freedomofmind.com and see that he list the Jws as a High Control Group. Look up the BITE model from Steven Hassan to see HOW the group will eventually, if you continue to buy what they are selling, control you and your husbands life. There are some great videos from user Brad Zook on youtube showing how the BITE model relates to the Jws.

  Also consider checking out jehovahswitnessrecovery.com for plenty of other meembers input on your questions. The time you are spending now researching this group, that we were all involved with, WITHOUT BIAS, will show what they have done in the past. Psssst,.. Don't focus on their carrot they are dangling out infront of you, they do not control the carrot. Several of the comments you have made show that you are experiencing confirmation bias a bit, you cannot swallow the idea that these people are not telling you the truth. The people themselves can be very nice and I agree, they are nice. But this does not prevent them from being also douped.

  You need to look at this group and their teachings as you were a person that had nothing to gain or lose by discovering the actual teachings and history about the group. Once you are buying into the carrot they dangle, it could be too late to see it from an unbiased condition.

  Also check out this site. It shows other info to show if the Jws might be a cult group. Now remember that a group does not have to meet all the indicators to be considered a cult. Also understand that they will not be sharing this info and they will actually work toward preventing you from finding out this info by telling you not to look anywhere online except jw.org when researching the jws. BIG FLAG, a group should not be afraid of critical info about the group. The truth can stand on it's own, if it truly is the truth.

  feel free to skip the intro down to the actual purpose of the thread lol!!.

  i'm a born in, 32 years in and almost 6 out.

  i've been out of the jw's since october of 2008. i came out due to a variety of factors, blood, historical roots, false teachings etc... my older sister helped me out back in 2008 and i subsequently helped my brother exit and the 3 of us became "born again" christians.. i've been mostly lurking but occasionally posting on jwn for around 5 years.
