  I think that sounds reasonable at first, but when you think about the bad guys who do not care to follow the laws of "turning in the guns" when a country makes that decision, then only the bad guys will have guns as the lawful citizens will have obeyed the law and disarned themselves. Then the bad guys, the ones that have kept there guns, now know that the good guys are disarmed. They do not have to worry about someone fighting back with a gun or at least not as likely as before the "turn in your gun order"

  So since guns exist, and are out there already, would it not be better to allow law abiding citizens the ability to protect themselves from those that are armed and have ill intentions toward others?

  i was 25 years a congregation member; ten years an elder; all told, up to 18 years an appointed man; a decade or so as a full-time minister; assembly speaker, with the pinnacle giving the public discourse at a district convention.. .

  i stopped being an active member of the congregation in november 2010, but it had been brewing for several years, with the customary gradual drifting away - all the necessary mental gymnastics as my spiritual views changed and doubts set in; quitting the theocratic ministry school; ceasing to answer; sitting quietly off to the side.

  i think the straw that broke the camels back was when family worship inevitably became family worship.

  As I mentioned on JWR get a digital recorder and record it all, also leave it in the room, covertly and excuse yourself to the bathroom just after it gets interesting for some later review of what is being said out of your presence.

  if the governing body could turn back time and do a rewrite or change their past teachings what would be their top priority ?.

  would they have to eliminate everything and start again?.

  any one want to tell them what to shred before forensics arrive?.

  Hubby is doing research on D'fing to present to the CO

  he thinks the light needs to get brighter on this so we are going to put a report together to give to the co. it's really bothering him because his dad was d'ffed for over 15 years - he has schizophrenia and even a co said he didn't think he should have ever been d'ffed to begin with.

  he went to texas to save a woman from cockroaches - clearly this was because of his mental state.

  he got f'ffed for that because they said he cheated on his wife and even if he didn't he had no business putting himself in that position.

  I Was Offered A Bible Study By The Elders

  2 elders, the cobe and his sidekick, a former bethelite and a young ms (elder in waiting) stopped by my mom's home while i was visiting with her.

  they were very congenial and eventually asked me if i got invited to the memorial and whether they could arrange a future visit with me and a possible study.

  i thanked them and told them i appreciated their invitation but that i was going to "pass at this time" but thanked them for their concern.. they recited a "wonderful experience" about a young man that was raised in the "truth" but wanted out so he decided to go to asia where he could not be found by witnesses.

  i have a personal theory about russell, rutherford and franz.. it extends to end times religious people in general.. that is, highly intelligent...end times believers.... .

  there is a tension to believing something that never seems to overlap with reality.. your intelligence keeps flashing "something's wrong".. but, your deeply held convictions (faith) tells you to shut the f**k up!.

  so, you live your live with a "gnawing" away at your brain.

  Kingdom Hall remodel - scam

  i was wondering from any here in the know, does it seem like there is a lot of "remodels" going on?.

  in the last week i had the occasion to talk with two jw's in different halls, about 10 miles apart.

  they both are undergoing major remodels.

  Worse case scenario you would think that they might place a lein on the property until the loan was paid off, to assure that the WTBTS gets the loan proceeds back. But once the loan is paid off

  then the lein is released and everybody is happy.

  Kinda crazy thinking that they are handing over the deed AND paying back a loan on a remodel.

  How many angles can they get money from?

  many people will scoff at the thought that the org will collapse.

  i agree that it will never collapse but the crumbling has begun.

  think about the following.....they have a serious lack of potential future leaders.

  What about the investing in Hedge funds, does this not show that they are taking more risk with what used to be our money?

  I was told that the reason for the closings of some of the branches in other parts of the world was due to this new "cloud computing" that would make the branches obsolete.

  I now think that it might be to cut expenses in countries where it cost more to run than it brings in.
